I do not see much difference. In both cases you deal with army of sentient alien creatures, which are hostile to everyone. In both cases you change their intentions according you will.I'm disccussing significance of such action, not possibility. And, by way, no one managed to destroy them either.Now imagine having to hack the Reapers, a race which has existed for at least 1 billion years in which no one has successfully hacked them. Now can you see why I am skeptical of Hacking the Reapers?
But the question is how do you change their intentions according to your own?
We know the Reapers use a a combination of varius stimuli and nanites to cause the change in person, but such a change is not permanent as the person breaks down after a while. It is not true control like with Hacking a Synthetic at the deepest level.
So how do you change the mind of something you dont even know if thinks by organic or synthetic means or a combination (probably) and even more so when you cannot even develop a viable way of controlling the way weaker Synthetic you yourself created.
And on the second part you are wrong. While it is true the Reapers asa whole have not been Destroyed, individual Reapers of all sizes have been destroyed, both before this Cycle (Derelict reaper) and most certainly during this cycle.
The mere fact that they can be destroyed by such means, means they can stopped. Control offers no such promise beyond the words of a Reaper.
