The Borg are the consequences of picking green and the red looks more brown to me.
But yes I see your point.

Hello, new here. I realize that this stuff has probably been said before, but there are alot of posts to go through between the two threads.
1. I believe that at a minimum, BioWare wanted to leave the ending open, with indoctrination being one of the possible interpretations. One question I have though, is have we seen anywhere in the series where indoctrination consists of a full-on hallucination?
2. Unrelated, but I was reading the first Mass Effect novel and there is some foreshadowing of the literal interpretation of the end. The passage talks about the danger of AI - "[AI] would teach itself; quickly surpassing the capabilities of its organic creators and growing beyond their control... conventional theory held that this doomsday scenario wasn't merely possible, it was unavoidable... the emergence of artificial intelligence was the single greatest threat to organic life in the galaxy." It cites the Geth rebellion (although they were not true AI's) as support of the theory.
1 - I disagree, actually. I believe Indoctrination was the intended ending all along, and that belief is reinforced by the statements from Bioware that, in no uncertain terms, state that they are not "changing" the ending, and that they believe in their "artistic vision" for it. As for full-on hallucinations, I'm not sure if that has any precedent, but even if it doesnt, that doesnt necessarily preclude it.
2 - I dont agree with that interpretation, actually. If anything, I think the Reapers are the very thing they insist was inevitable - a creation that rebelled against it's creators, and is a threat to all organic life. They arent our protectors and guardians against that inevitability, they are that inevitability.
edit: Sorry, I'm being rude. Firstly, welcome to the topic. Feel free to post anytime.![]()
Thank you sir. Regarding #1, I agree that no precedent wouldn't preclude it, but i'd just feel more confident if there was one. As for BioWare "not changing" the endings - that works with IT, but you could make the same argument about the literal interpretation. They could clarify IT with the EC, or they could clarify unanswered questions or perceived plotholes with the literal ending. For #2 I suppose the reapers could fill that role (although we don't really know about their creator(s) unless you believe the starchild), but i think that more closely fits with the starchild's explanation of the reaper's purpose. That wouldn't necessarily make the literal ending true, but it shows that the idea hasn't been pulled from nowhere.

have you tried the asari vangard? their melee is similar to nova.
im not to fond of vangaurds myself though...
Their melee takes time, and doesnt reduce the cooldown on charge like Nova does though.
Plus you can nova cancel and be invincible for a few seconds.
Nova is awesome if you know how to use it.
Human vanguard is best vanguard

Uhhh... You guys know that there's a whole forum dedicated to multiplayer discussion, right? Why don't you talk about MP there?
I would really hate to see this thread get locked again...
Multiplayer discussion never got the old thread locked.
Anyways, we have that theory that multiplayer is somewhat related to IT, remember?
Any discussion of multiplayer is therefore technically sort of on topic.
if you want to see something that's on-topic, take a look at my post two pages back!

I'll give it another look at the weekend and that means I'll have to reload the whole thing again. God why can't you quick save during the final sequence? Seriously, my Shep is stuck shooting at the tube and the Catalyst just rage quits unlike in Control.
You can.. although not in the original way. When the kid is done talking with you and your left to choose RGB options, quit the game and backup the autosave. Next time you wanna see something just copy back this save xD

Ok, I just replayed the ending and detected something that's pretty weird...
after the starchild conversation, you get to make your choice, right?
Well, guess what?
Shepard's shadow.
When you move, you should pay attention to Shepard's shadow. It moves in a circle around Shep. But you know what the weirdest part of it all is?
Shep's shadow always points towards control and synthesis. Never to destroy.
Seriously, replay the ending, and pay attention to Shep's shadow! You'll probably immediately see what I mean...
Moar shadow oddities during the Citadel scene? Looove it!
Will definitely check it out.

I was trying to find where you guys had this discussion, but I can't seem to find anything. Is it simply because MP increases your GR and EMS and therefore, get all three of the choices and the Shepard breath scene? If not, anybody know whereabouts I could find it and read about it?

Arian talks about it frequently. Here you go:

They already stated they had no plans to make the EC, that doesn't preclude them from having planned IDT.
What I picture their DLC schedule as having been was something along the lines of;
A). Start up the ANN twitter, giving "real time" newsfeeds from before the attack, and leading up to the attack, and into the beginning of the war, create some story and plotlines and finish a few others off, get fans hyped.Release Mass Effect 3 to general applause, multiplayer is generally enjoyed by people, and it is used as a way of integrating the war effort into the story, it also allows players to become soldiers in the war in a sense, giving them a feeling of being involved in the war effort, the game is much beloved, excepting the ending, which is seen as strange, out of place and mediocre at best, but it satisfies fans, while also causing them to speculate to keep them interested and involved in the game even after they finish.
C). Keep doing multiplayer events, which coincide with major operations in the war, on certain dates, release single player DLC, which coincides with major battles and events, such as the retaking of Omega.
D). Keep updating the ANN twitter feed, keeping fans interested and involved in the progress of the war as they follow along.
E). Keep releasing multiplayer packs, allowing the players to take part as new races, as these new races gradually join the war effort.
F). The ANN Twitter timeline, which is about a month or so of when the Siege of Earth is supposed to take place, finally reaches the events of Chronos Station, at which point, the next day, when the Siege of Earth is supposed to take place, a DLC featuring the "true" final ending is revealed in which Shepard was undergoing indoctrination, and players end up having to load from their "Legendsave" and are forced to play through that paticular playthrough, facing the consequences of their actions.
G). Mike Gamble, Casey Hudson, Ray Musyka and Mac Walters all share a bottle of bubbly as Bioware is hailed as the most brilliant game developer of all time.
The problem with this whole thing is step 2 didn't get off the ground, people WEREN'T satisfied with the ending and chose to get mad rather than speculate, Bioware expected some of this (how could they not after DA2?) and was prepared for some backlash with a buisness plan where the only thing at steak was their reputation, but they didn't count on the sheer AMOUNT of pure, unleaded vitriol leveled at them, and the sheer number of people whom just "didn't get it" as well as the fact that they felt they hadn't been granted enough closure to stomach the ending.
Hence why Bioware has to make the EC, to make things a bit more obvious so that people will be satisfied to wait for the "Seige of Earth DLC".
Edit: I keep spelling things wrong, sorry.
