Yes I read that too but in the FAQ of this acrticle it says "No casting decisions have been made yet."
I can have hope.  I think a lot of fans would lose interest if some of the characters (Joker most obviously) are not played by themselves...

Screwing up the movie sure wouldn't help Bioware any. The current state of the endings (even with EC) hasn't exactly helped them and if the movie is a disaster (honestly it could go either way right now) no one will want to buy Mass Effect stuff. Unless IT.

My problem with them choosing broshep was it was the very first decision they made. I'd have prefered if they'd chosen broshep after thinking about it and maybe a little debate. As it stands it seems their thought process was "Dude, why'd we want a chick in our film, tthat's like, so gay."

That's not what I said. I would love for it to have a female hero too. I'm just saying not doing one is better than screwing one up. Hollywood has a habit of taking away femininity.

Well manshep is and has been the main face of Mass Effect since the beginning of the series. It would make sense to do the same in the movie. Besides, femshep has only been recognized as cover material since ME3. And even then they make the default femshep look like this:
