The way I understand IT, Shepard's final choices stand for either breaking free of indoctrination or falling for the trap of Reapers. Now, without reaveal and after ending DLC the war against reapers is not over, the story is untold and it's just as bad as literal view of the current ending.
I also understand that last moments of the game could be combination of the dream and reality, but I kind of like the first option better, there last moments od the game is a war of minds and wills.
I agree that the IT is a much more meaningful ending of the game. Though it would mean a lot of the end and the ending scenes lose meaning and potentially didn't happen. And I personally enjoyed my ending to ME3 with the highest EMS and destroy. Gave hope to the series. I refuse to believe that I can't have both and the idea of having a Waking Nightmare seems to satisfy both sides of my experiance in ME3. (My literalist and IT sides.) Though as BioWare said, they don't want to be prescriptive and leave it up for interpretation. So I could be wrong.
Either way I'm fine to the ending of ME3 and I hope BioWare can continue to provide great expansions to the game/deepen my playing experience.
