Just wanted to jump in for a sec to give my opinion on the useless sound dissections. Its well know that sounds effect artist goes to use object or even scenary that arent really related to get a feeling they like to their sound tracks.
Just because the sound of a rail road are used to make an effect does not give it any meaning, because thats how sound effect works you have to use real sound then transform them into something you are looking for. Thats the art of sound effects.
This work can be attributed to any video game and movie actually ever made. We can have many more exemple in mass effect alone. The reaper sound we grow to love so much is actually just a highly modified sound of a giant garbage container door closing.
The sound for the T-rex we all learn to recognise as the beast itself even outside of jurrasik park is a combination of multiple animal and machinery combined and modified togheter.
If anything we can conclude that this train track percution beat was actually one of the good sound the artist used to make the ending sound epic. I always though it sounded pretty spot on, which is what the sound artist was most likely going for. If only the ending writing was as solid as the sound artist work.
Short: dissection of sound effects wont give IT any clue, because sound effect itself is already a more complex work, some of the effects can include many sound at the same time coming from totally unrelated object, scenary, person, etc. It cannot be dissected like the visual asset or the story itself, because those have to be completly related to the story itself, unlike the sound effects used. With sound effects only the end result matter.
