If you have low EMS with only control, the catalyst sounds a little pissy at Shepard.

The catalyst tells Shepard is going to die if you pick control. Even in destroy the catalyst only implying Shepard is going to die. And there are a lot of players that care much more about Shepard than the synthetics. Or they play a Shepard that doesn't give a damm about synthetics. And even with the extended cut, the catalyst saying it's more of an organic death rather than an actual death, what he says doesn't sound too compelling.

Also, if you argue with the catalyst about control, he says he doesn't really want Shepard to replace him. Shows he also doesn't really love this choice.

So if control indoctrinate Shepard, why be so against it?

I'll go with classic reverse psychology. One of the better ways to convince someone to do something is to tell them not to do it/that they don't want it. Just my two cents.

Destroy = somewhat secretly doesn't want<_<
Control = secretly does want:devil:
Synthesis = OMGOMGOMG You totally gotta pick this one Shepard. Herpaderp.

Hell, at 750k you could buy a BMW M3 with the amount you've lost from currency depreciation in the past six months 

I'm on £-1400 in my bank account (free overdrafts ftw) but +quitealargeamout in my brokerage accounts and some cash in high-risk stuff like bitcoin investments and the like

Most bank fraud is based on either:
-Cheque fraud (not really relevant if you don't use them but it's a huge problem).
-Keylogging/retrieval of stored passwords.

So it's more about the software integrity of the machine you use for financial stuff. I know a guy who lost $7500 after a guy got into his bank account due to an infected cracked bit of software. Bet he wishes he'd just bought it now

Mass Effect is absolute gold for EA, which is part of the reason I can't see them not running with our angle in this thread. It makes way beautifully for ME4, plus DLC, plus ME3 DLC, plus extra multiplayer revenue.

The catalyst comes accross like a used car salesman, trying to push you towards the one they've been struggling to sell 
"well you could go for control if that works for you, but have a look at this fantastic synthesis choice over here. The world will be all rainbows and kittens!"

BTW, if destroy breaks the indoctrination/Hallucination... Why does Hackett sounds so happy in the destroy epilogue? Wouldn't the reapers want Shepard to feel bad for choosing destroy or something?

There are better reasons than mine but one of them is just because Shep broke the indoc attempt doesn't mean they have to wake up instantly. Hackett sounds happy to please literalists . Seriously though it would be kind of obvious if he didn't.

I find that last part very compelling. Isn't there something about a beam of sunlight in the FMV only?

I don't trust destroy either, let's take the reapers interest in Shepard, particularly their option to take Shepard alive, it's not a priority but it is something they wanted, what if destroy actually destroys Shepard's mind, basically Shepard becomes a husk, now if we consider that a living Shepard merged with the reapers would be more useful to them, then destroy would annoy them.
Keep in mind I'm looking at this from the perspective that everything that takes place in the decision chamber is in Shepard's own mind, the reapers are in there too trying to take control of Shepard without damaging his/her brain.
