So when Shepard gets near-hit by that beam, who's to say that it didn't leave Shep in a coma? The Reapers could have swept in, grabbed his body, popped out the brain, plugged the brain into the Matrix, and then simulated the rest of the game. Control, Synthesis, and Destroy would become a measure of how useful that brain's mindset could be to the Reapers in terms of direct application: Control represents a brain willing to direct action, Synthesis represents a brain with useful enough thought patterns to be dispersed and replicated, and Destroy would.... I dunno.
Ah, the benefits of a redundant nervous system.

I always thought that was weird no matter how you look at it. Much like the "born in London" scene. Hackett was basically all like: "Holy S*** she did it! Someone made it to the citadel!"TheConstantOne wrote...
So I've noticed something that helps prove that Anderson and TIM, as encountered in the Citadel, illusions created by Shepard as he fights for control of his mind. The evidence is so blatant that I'm ashamed I've been missing it until now.
In the EC scene where Hackett discovers that Shepard made it to the Citadel, he announces his discovery like this: "Holy ****, he did it. All fleets, we've got reports that someone made it to the Citadel."
Notice that Hackett refers to the Citadel boarding party with singular words. By his accounts only one person got to the Citadel.
Now I am of the belief that Shepard is actually on the Citadel after being hit by Harbinger's beam, but this dialogue indicates that Shepard is the only person (from the Alliance) to get that far. So if Anderson is an illusion and TIM is interacting with it, we can thus conclude that TIM is also a hallucination.
