The diameter doesn't fit. The "pin" part has a smaller diameter than that where the energy is released, but the platform where you choose is just a little smaller than the diameter of the dented part of the crucible, and that actually fits the diameter of the base of the tower. It is more likely that it gets retracted:

Ok I get you but then isn't that still the case even if Shepard is on the Citadel?

The diameter thing? No it fits about the base of the Citadel Tower, just take note of the diameter of the dent in the Crucible and it's easily comparable.

Idk it's hard for me to picture it in my head. I'm not good at that, unfortunately. let me look around a bit.

In the mean time, thing about this.

It always bothered me that the base of the tower is flat and smooth, yet when we're making the choice, the room we're standing on is full of holes, grooves and isn't flat and smooth. There are structures carved into the floor like the platforms that raise up when you're about to choose. Where did these come from? The crucible couldn't have created all of it on the fly.

*takes a look at title of thread* ah, well that explains it.

LOL, yeah I was just thinking... "Wait, what does it matter. None of this crap really happened anyway".

:)

No actually. I think this is where the confusion is coming from.

7:13-718

I zoomed in on that part.

EDIT: On closer inspection that object you are talking about clearly has the prongs on the end of it. So sorry your wrong.

You are actually talking about the extended part the prongs are part of. You are just mistakenly thinking it's a different object. Look at the shot again showing it about to make contact, the part you are talking about is above the prongs, looks a bit hidden in the shadows but it's clearly there.

Can you tell me which pic you are referring to?

I think I found what the platform and base connect to. They don't penetrate the citadel, they connect to it via this structure.

Dude, only a few seconds later you can clearly see this part and that it does not!

Yes you are right, it makes no sense why the platfform is flat and then suddenly Shepard goes there and it has all that those structures to make a decision...

The fact it doesn't mkae sense is because it's BS. Not because the Crucible contained that stupid crap.

No, it's gone. The crucible is so large that you would be able to see it in the empty space within the Presidium ring.  It's not there.

is this what you were talking about?

No, look at 1:50

Looking at this video again, it looks like it's the Crucible that is that biggest explosion, I think that's why it's gone, it blew up. Not that it makes a difference to anything, I don't think.

Also, I can't unsee that Predator now

This pic was taken from the same frame as the others. A second later we see the crucible docking from from another angle opposite the base. The we see the prongs light up at another andgle which doesn't show the base like the others did.

BTW, tried to play Arrival without music on and heard those high pitch notes already in the hangar while Kenson was hacking that elevator.
You know, the notes that were posted about yesterday (while the Crucible beam is charging).

So +1 from me for the Crucible acting like something along the lines of Object Rho.

Really? How certain are you that it's the same sound? Could be significant.

The three files that contain the Crucible notes can be found in the Wwise_End002_Streaming.
Here's the link from prettz:
www.youtube.com/watch

And here's where I heard it in Arrival:
www.youtube.com/watch
It's not the music, I had the music turned off...still there. And I don't think that it's caused by Kenson tinkering with the console in the background. Whatever it is, it seems out of place during that scene. Hence, I can't really offer an Interpretation.

But since I couldn't find the files in the Arrival folder, I guess they might be from the core game. Maybe someone will notice them during ME2 their playthrough...sorry can't help more.

This should make it clear. You think there is an additional extending part where there is not one. Both things drawn around in green are the same part.

EDIT: Also note that platform bit at the top right that you thought is where it was connecting. It clearly is not.

Are you seriously trying to say the Carnifex -> Predator transition in the destroy ending is an accident? Maybe you should go back and read the overwhelming evidence we found to the contrary.

She obviously just put her rifle away for the pistol, it's not like her pistol changed to another pistol while the camera was focused on her. The camera is focused on Shep while his gun morphs, you can actually see the before and after frames.

Right. Could it be that they went with a predator so that it was more visible in his hand or for other developmental issues?

Whoever's in that scene has an Avenger, ME2 did it a lot, especially that scene with the door in the Collector Base.

It's because they coded it to be an AR, and if that charcter can't have one, they just have the default weapon; an Avenger. They have to code in the guns for everything that's a cutscene, like this, even if they want it to be the weapon that character has equipped.

The Carnifex turning into a Predator at the end has to be on purpose, because they had to code in the Carnifex to appear as soon as the Destroy cutscene started, but then code it to change into a Predator later in the same cutscene. If they didn't set anything for that cutscene, you would have been shooting at the destroy tube with the gameplay Carnifex, but it would have been a Predator throughout the whole cutscene.

Bottom line, it couldn't have been by accident there.

I know. I saw them. But it is implied in Hellish's post that I think bioware did it by accident or neglected to take it out. I've repeatedly said that I don't think bioware is lazy or incompetent, and yet I keep getting accused of believing that.

I just like presenting other possibilities, rather than just going with whatever sounds good. If this is a pattern we see since ME2, why is this one occurence so special?

Can you see something weird here? Does this description remind you of anything?
