I know a lot of people are at BioWare's throats right now, but explain to me this: Why would any form of multi-player gameplay be something Gamble considers "the best we've ever put out"?

Maybe it's the best MP content they've made?

IDK, the new Ex-Cerberus Vanguard with BIOTIC WHIPS looks like it could be a lot of fun personally. :)

I'm just saying, there isn't enough detail in his tweet to say for certain what he is talking about. I'm excited to hear it, regardless of whether it is EC or MP related.

Hope there is a female version, sounds fun xD

I'm still disappointed it is Ex-Cerberus and not Protheans, to be honest.

Also, an interesting part of the rebellion pack:

Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will demand that teams retrieve a high priority package and securely escort it to a designated extraction zone on each map.

Didnt someone predict that at some point in the future there'd be a multiplayer map on Earth and one of your objectives will be extracting a critically injured Shepard from the rubble?

I know it was just speculation from someone, but with the addition of that kind of objective it sure seems possible we'd have that happen in the future.

Wasn't that part of that fake as hell "Terminator" leak?

even IF they were charging for EC it still wouldnt be a valid argument.

selling games without their endings is know the industry standard. (thanks balanc for the links)

The new objective was seen by people who were modding their MP games; it had to do with retrieving Prothean artifacts and dropping them off at the shuttle. There is a N7 mission in the campaign with this mechanic.

Well, the main complaint about that I've seen is that some console players dont have the internet connection for xbox live, but cmon guys, if you cant get internet where you live, I'd suggest moving.

Its 2012. Even Mt Everest has full 3G coverage, I'm sure somewhere close to you has broadband.

To which I reply, MMO's and any games that you have to buy DLC for are already incomplete games so we've been sold incomplete games for at least a decade or more now.

Personally I think that the best response to this arguement is politely linking them to AD's Marketing Theory...which is bloody brillant, imho.

I recently got FiOS back in like 09 or 10 but until then when something interesting came out I'd grab my xbox and go to my friend's house to download it.

To those complaining you don't have internet to dl the EC then how are you complaining

To those who are mad but can't see this go to a friend's house you're bound to have a buddy with internet within a mile of your house.

I think the incomplete game thing is in relation to the ending. Each ME game before three had an ending and DLC was either before the events of the end of the game or bridges to the next game. But each story concluded. If ME3 is the final game of the series or at least the last of Shepard's story and the game didn't "end" because of IT then the story is incomplete.

Which people see as the game being incomplete.

And before people come after me, I don't side with this unless Bioware releases a Pro-IT EC and admit that it was planned and still manage to leave a lot of questions.

By the way, since Byne reminded me, I just wanted to state that it's still possible for Protheans to be brought back in DLC and in the multiplayer. In the From Ashes DLC, when Shepard is watching the data before opening Javik's pod, the Victory VI states that there are some of his people left in pods deep below the city that may survive the bombardment, although he has to shut some of the pods off to protect Javik during the bombardment. I think there may yet be some Protheans still buried beneath Eden Prime.

The thing is that people know it's not in the game or that they need to wait for DLC for the rest.

Bioware has confirmed neither.

Ummm.... I'm not going to go nuts here...  But I live about 2 miles away from broadband access.  My internet use is at work and then at home I can tether my droid to my computer (but the speeds aren't great.)   It's actually good enough for Guild Wars and I can play ME3 MP on weeknights.  (Not weekends.)

File sizes a GB or more take a while to DL though.

There are no plans for broadband or DSL to expand to where I live.

And sure, I could move, but I also love my house and it's a great place for me to raise my kids.  We have a big back yard - with trampoline, plus a full finished basement that is full of their toys.

So I'm ok as far as internet goes - but not everyone is.  And it's pretty sad actually.  As you say, it's 2012, why doesn't everyone have high speed internet access.

In rural areas there is satelite internet (HughnesNet for example)  Their service sucks because they know they've got you by the balls.  It's $70 a month and isn't even as fast as 3G.  Plus they limit how much information you can transmitt & DL in a rolling 30 day period.  Last I knew it was 16GB in any 30 day period.  BS!!!

*EDIT*  Actually, here in the US, because of lobbying and all that BS - municiaplities are actually not allowed to establish their own highspeed internet services - even if the big companies do not want to service a particular area.

There are some exceptions I believe, but generally that is the case.  (When I lived in Wyoming the county did have their own phone & internet company)  (I live near Buffalo, NY now.)

Thats one of the main things I like about console gaming.

Sure, I may not get cutting edge graphics like the PC, but people who develop games for consoles know everyone has the same setup, and can develop for that specific setup. They arent gonna make new games requiring you to go out and upgrade your xbox to play them.

Blizzard never told you until later that they were going to do expansions to World of Warcraft that you would have to plunk down another 60 dollars for. So World of Warcraft was technically incomplete. They're not selling you a new game, just expansions which are glorified, extensive DLC.

An expansion is different. Expansion qualify as an entirely different game sometimes. Look at Age of Mythology, A game I played religiously and ran a clan of 20-30 people. They came out with an expansion called the Titans, which instead of adding additional chapters to the existing story, branched off into a new story about the Atlantians. It also introduced new unit types and game mechanics.

What we see with ME is an expansion not of the game but of the ending. It will not introduce new mechanics, new campaigns or even new chapters.

600-700 bucks can buy me an xbox, one year XBL subscription, the entire Assassin's Creed series, the entire Mass effect series and I'll still probably have money to spare.

EDIT: Besides PCs are trouble anyway most PC games aren't PC exclusive and all they really have over their console equalvelents is graphics. Those games that are PC exclusive are usually MMOs with the very rare strategy game (most PC only strategy games are on the consoles too). MMOs are life sucking money holes I refuse to get myself trapped in.

Well, yeah, but honestly it's not BioWare's fault the state of internet access sucks so hard in America. They shouldnt really have to appease everyone who doesnt have broadband.

Hell, years ago I lived in Turkey, and all we had on the Air Force base was crappy dial-up, but I never blamed video game developers for releasing DLC that took me forever to download. They cant be expected to not release DLC just because I cant download it in Turkey.

Yes, but on the PC you get: superior graphics, superior controls (especially for shooters), a versatile system that can do pretty much anything, and Steam, which allows you to save enough money to compensate for the investment.

Edit: Oh yeah, I also forgot that for almost all games you don't have to worry about having a subscription service to play multiplayer.

but then you wont get a regular PC which almost everyone need these days. Im just pointing out that the difference isnt that high if you take into acoount that most people have a regular computer anyways.

just get a high-end computer instead of that regular computer and you have no nead for a console.

Blizzard never told you until later that they were going to do explansions to World of Warcraft that you would have to plunk down another 60 dollars for.

Some good points. Maybe we should just say this entire situation is a new precedent. We as gamers want companies to be creative and when they finally do, we don't like it. We seem to be a fickle bunch.

the argument I get tired of hearing the most is...

"...but of IT is true then that means bioware sold us a incomplete game!!!!"

This should only be a valid argument if they were charging for the EC...they're not. Yes they sold us an incomplete game but they aren't exactly capatalizing on it

In this modern age, a gamer with no internet connection knows what theyre missing out on.

You know Diablo 3 is the fastest selling PC game. Yeah, you need a constant net connection to play that

Diablo III is a PC game...I'm too poor to afford a good computer nor do I want to shell out the several hundred dollars needed to upgrade it every few years. Console gaming is nice and cheap for me.

a PC isnt THAT expensive.... almost everone has a regular pc, thats like 300.... a console is another 300....

you could get a decent gaming PC for $600-700.... and PC games tend to be $10 cheaper- and you get realy sweet offers on steam. (complete assassins creed series for $50)

600-700 bucks can buy me an xbox, one year XBL subscription, the entire Assassin's Creed series, the entire Mass effect series and I'll still probably have money to spare.

He said get one PC for 600-700 instead of a bad PC + XBox. Especially when the new consoles are coming out you have to pay at least 200 for the console alone if you also want newer games.
