I just checked the lines your team says in the N7 Fuel Reactors mission (the one with loads of Reaper forces) and again the post Proto Reaper lines:

Proto Reaper:
Garrus: "I thought hospitals were ugly to fight through. This is so much worse."
Random bleh.

Javik: "Reaper atrocities have no limit."
Random bleh.

Tali: "Keelah, this thing is horrible."
Random bleh/frightened.

Ashley: "That thing's creeping me out. Like it's watching us."
Like the Codex says: feelings of being watched.

Kaidan: "Fighting through this thing makes my skin crawl. It's like we're bugs crawling across a sleeping giant."
Like the Codex says: superstitious awe.

Liara: "I don't like the feel of that thing. It's as though it knows we're here."
Like the Codex says: feelings of being watched/superstitious awe.

James: "Fighting through this thing's like partying in a graveyard. Like I can feel it watching."
Like the Codex says: feelings of being watched/superstitious awe.

Note that superstitious awe includes an ignorant or irrational fear of that which is unknown or mysterious.
Note that Garrus/Javik/Tali are all answered with "Least it's not trying to kill us this time." while Ashley/Kaidan/Liara/James are answered with "Tried to kill me last time. It can watch all it wants."

N7 Fuel Reactors:
Garrus: he gets angry.
Nothing special.

Javik: he gets angry, wants to fight like always.
Nothing special

Tali: seems a bit torn, answers Garrus' "There were a hundred turians stationed here. Now? Nothing." with "Maybe they retreated." which seems just to be practical.
If Garrus is not present she says something is wrong, but that is because of "All this technology shouldn't be so dead.", answers Liara's "Like a tomb." with "Yes, exactly."
Seems more focused that the machinery is dead, less frightened but still a bit.

Ashley: very frightened, tension in her face as Liara remarks. Answers James' "This place gives me the creeps." with "You read my mind, Vega."
Like the Codex says: superstitious awe.

Kaidan: either says "I'm feeling an ambush." as an answer to someone or "Something's not right here."
Can be counted as superstitious awe.

Liara: Answers Garrus with "Even the bodies are gone." and Tali with "Like a tomb."
For herself she says: "Something terrible happened here." and notices the tension in Ashleys face when asked "What was your first clue?"
Like the Codex says: superstitious awe.

James: Answers with "Yeah, I feel like we're being watched." or says "This place gives me the creeps." for himself.
Like the Codex says: feelings of being watched/superstitious awe.

In conclusion: in both cases we get a good idea of their state of mind. The interesting thing is that in both cases the squad can be divided into two groups:
Garrus, Javik who don't show any signs
Ashley, Kaidan, Liara, James who show heavy signs of what the Codex tells us are signs of indoctrination
Tali seems to be in the middle, it can't be distinguished if she is just a bit frightened (remember her age, she was just on her Pilgrimage in ME1) or if it is the first signs that show.

Tali is 25 at the events of Mass Effect 3.

Still much younger than any of the other characters, even in ME1. Maybe about the age of Ashley, but we all know how bad Ashley handled her situation in ME1, and that is even with extensive training.

Bioware isn't full of "videogame writers" they're novelists, who just chose a different medium.

They are?  They violated a bunch of sacred rules of writing to "end" their novel.  Not to mention failed to deliver resolution.  What novels are they writing?  Choose your own adventure D&D books?

You're assuming that IT is fale.  Obviously Arian - and most of the rest of us - do not agree that the writers screwed the pooch, since we don't take the "ending" at face value.

You mean fake?  At this point I assume nothing.  I have mixed feelings on IDT.  On the one hand, it's a wholly poor plot device, so I hate it.  On the other hand, I hope it really is the case, so I can obtain resolution and closure.  Anyway you slice it, it is a poor way to end a much anticipated video game that we all coughed up 60$ for.  I can say with certainty if they don't fix this, I will be not be purchasing any EA products.  Not just Bioware.  No more Madden, Tiger Woods, anything.  I'm sure there are others that feel the same.  It's the only real power we as consumers have: Withold money.

The Breathe scene in the rubble in London certainly suggests Sheppard was either being ID or simply dreaming.  Poor writing form either way.

Point the first. It's NOT a poor plot device, you're assuming it's the cliche of "It was all a dream" when in fact it's a false crisis, a battle in the center of the mind, and insert any number of possesion and mental combat tropes here, unlike a dream it has real world consequences, which is why it annoys me whenever I see it referred to as a dream. It's a hallucination. Big difference..

How is it a poor way? A cliffhanger is inherently bad to you? Don't watch television then.

Usually only when a series is near completion.  I hate commercials and I hate lack of resolution.  More and more of the better television has increasingly shorter duration in resolution to story arcs that satisfies until we receive the greater story resolution.

Your impatience is your problem, not the perveiw of the author.

Perhaps.  But I wonder what your response will be when EC DLC doesn't deliver what your believe it will?  Will you still be satisfied with the ending you've been given?  I hope your right, but it doesn't change the fact that I bought a game expending to have a COMPLETE game, and got 98% of a game.  It would be like buying the final book in a series and it ending the way this game did, then the author comes out and says I'm currently writing an extended ending.  You'd be pissed, and you'd be right to be.  But If you're okay with what your 60$ got you, I'm fine with you being okay.  I, however, am not.

Remember it's free, so if any author would do that it would include "anyone who had purchased the book earlier will get it free" so I can again experience anticipation and discuss it with other people. (Exactly what we do here) As there is no extra charge why should I be angry?

My response will be to play the EC, and depending on what's the content, either get over it and get excited for DA3, or quietly celebrate.

Morever, you never bought a "complete" game. You bought a game with a cliffhanger ending, and a promise to get the ending for free. YOU ARE GETTING THE EC FOR FREE. I fail to see why you should have a problem with this fact.

Using your metaphor, it's more like the novelist coming out and saying "Ok, well the ending didn't REALLY pan out that way, oh and I'm writing a new novel, which by the way, I will be sending to your door, on my dollar, just so that you can keep reading and come back to buy more of my novels, since you seem to like them so much."

So anyway, I came across another interesting tidbit in the control ending.

We all agree that Shep's eyes are indoctrinated in the end, right? Well, I've found something that supports this even more.
In Mass Effect: Evolution, when TIM's eyes are getting indoctrinated while touching the arca monolith, his eyes suddenly flare up in a bright blue, which we also can see on the cover of the comic.

Well, guess what? The same happens to Shepard's eyes after touching the control panel.

Here is a screenshot:
Posted Image

In the upper one, we see Shepard's eyes fully indoctrinated.

In the lower one, I will show you how her eyes look after touching the control panel.

So everyone would be okay buying a book tauted as the final installment and receive an incomplete book?  It's about expectations.  I paid for a full game, expecting a full game, and I want it when I pay for it.  I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

On a different note, since this is an IDT thread not a did the writers get it right thread, assuming IDT is correct, how is it that the Reapers are attempting to ID?  I mean he's lying in the rubble in London after being blasted by a Reaper cannon, so what, they have some sort of telepathy that hacks the brain?

The problem most people have is they can't see past ME3. Bioware told them it was the end and are steadfast in their belief of "this was it! If IT is true they sold us a game without an ending! Oh woe is me, holbibhbkvgukh..."

IMHO there is quite a chance ME3 truly ends on a cliffhanger and Shepard continues into ME4 (see $$$ for my reasoning). Possibly the EC won't offer gameplay and will just make Indoctrination more obvious, setting up ME4 or possibly just a large "expansion pack"/ME3.5.

Nobody really knows, but you can't judge the writers until the EC comes out. It's free, so if it sucks no skin off your back and you can criticize Bioware all you want. Judge them on the final story.

And something from the previous conversation, I don't know how anyone can look at Tolkien's use of the Eagles in the LOTR trilogy and say indoctrination is a poor plot device. Tolkien is one of the greatest writers of all time and his Middle Earth books are works of art, but those Eagles are just a huge "get out of jail free card". And of course is a great example of why Tolkien's Eagles can pull a deus ex machina and nobody complain, yet the Catalyst yields an unholy firestorm of hate (in the literalist ending). Tolkien had already established the Eagles as characters, so any intervention is acceptable by the rules of the universe, whereas the Catalyst is thrown in specifically to get the writer out of a jam (in the literalist ending of course.)

Sorry, bit off topic there ;)

Uh, yes. Yes they do. See Arrival, Saren, TIM, that Asari Matriarch, Collectors (ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL). Not to mention Shepard has been exposed to Reaper tech this entire story (specifically Arrival),allowing ample time for reapers to gain access.

I'm no expert on IDT and I've never thought of it that way (some sort of telepathy that hacks the brain) but now that you mention it I think the codex on Reaper Indoctrination can be interpreted that way.

It's the final game, and the end of Shepard's story. But this is the engine for the story to be completed, Someone put it quite well, no Mass Effect game is complete without it's DLC.

You got a full game. Arguing that this is not a full game is like arguing a season finale is not a full episode because it ended on a cliff hanger.

Also, Reaper indoctrination is a passive process, that can be magnified, since Harbinger, not being an idiot, would not actually leave in real life, he's sitting right there, blasting Shep with ultra/infrasonic waves and EM pulses. The hallucination itself? All a creation of Shepard's mind, Harbinger is just nudging things to suit himself.

But the fact is, the Catalyst CREATES the jam he's supposed to get the writer out of!

As for the eagles, he did have an explanation that they were off fighting somewhere in the north around Erebor as the northern armies of Rivendell and the Lonely mountain destroyed Dol Guldur, the Necromancer's (Sauron's) stronghold in Mirkwood.

It was tauted as the end of a trilogy.  That implies resolution.  If you watched the "final" episode of that tv show and got no closure, you'd feel cheated.  If I'd know Bioware was gonna release an incomplete game, I would have waited til EC DLC was available.  Same thing I do with TV series.  Wait for them to be complete, or near complete before investing.

Thanks for clarifying ID process.

Mass Effect 3, if you pick the Destroy ending with a high enough EMS, ends on a cliffhanger. I think that Mass Effect is going the route of Halo, in that Halo 3 was the end of the first trilogy, and now they are going to do awhole new trilogy. I don't think Commander Shepard's story is over. Bungie hyped the crap out of Halo 3 being the end of Master Chiefs journey, and included the post credits cutscene and Legendary ending as a way to throw a bone to the fans, by saying 'never say never'. If Bioware was absolutley sure they were done with Shepard, they would not have included his last breath.

Don't really bring in Halo in this. Halo 4 is not made by Bungie. They just own the rights to the material.

It's as if Bioware decided to conclude the story of Shepard in Mass Effect 3, and that's how it's going to be. Then suddenly, Relic Studios // THQ would proceed into owning the rights, then produce Mass Effect 4. For Bioware, their definitive end would be Mass Effect 3, but for consumers- it would carry on. If you feel like being entitled, you'd go with the conclusion of the sequels just being stupid spin-offs, or accept them. :alien:

You're right. Forgot that 343 was doing 4. ONly plus about it is a lot of people at 343 working on 4 are the same people that worked on CE. But I digress.

I am really hoping some kind of announcement is made at e3, maybe a trailer for the EC ala Broken Steel? Don't know if they should confirm or deny IT though. What do you guys think? You think an announcement at e3 is a good idea?

EpyonX3, in my opinion you're merely using blurry screenshots and even blurrier reasoning to justify your belief. And you're completely ignoring the fact that parabolee pointed out that you can see the "prongs" that end up above you in the decision chamber sticking out of the very tip of that extension.

In any case, let's just agree to disagree, because this got tiresome (not to mention pointless since we believe in IT, meaning this is completely inconsequential) long ago.
