Friend of mine still firmly believes in the literal interpretation of the ending. Its fun watching him try to explain the physics of surviving a nuclear explosion in space and atmospheric reentry.

You need to increase your rep before you can convince him.

Man, those Paragon and Renegade dialog options are a  @#^%# female Canis lupus to unlock in real life.

Ok, for the sake of theorizing. Say after Shepard wakes up, some stuff happens  and then joker kills Harbinger, temporarily releasing a grip on Shepard and crew. Couldn't we use the thorian spores to anchor ourselves in reality (halting further indoc) until we develop some sort of cure or treatment?

The thorian is dead, where you gonna get spores?

Shiala could donate some blood and we could take some spores and clone them?

Liara is one of two constants.

Coincidentally the other constant already got Shepard killed once, and is in a relationship with an AI based on reaper tech.

What's he gonna do? Break his arm at me?

No, he's gonna kidnap your squad and flee the battle.

EDIT: Byne ninja'd me.

You seem to forget that Vega is guaranteed to be alive and also happens to hear voices.

F***in' Jacob man....

Like I said.... red blooded male....

Though I dont agree with Jacob's decision. A few months is too short to give up on someone you really care about.

Oops, we got off topic. Next topic?

Pro-tip: Shepard has only been incarcerated for six months.

When you ask Jacob how long he's known Brynn, he says a year.

Really?

OMG! It's so weird, first the angle makes it almost look like she's smiling (creepy) and then she snarls her line and dies.

Well, she's always been a bit of a hard-***, hasn't she?

Not everyone is into the polyamory thing. *shrug*
Myself included. If my fiancee brought home another woman and said she loved her too, and wanted us to live together as a threesome... Yeah, there's a small part of me that would be happy about the idea of two women in bed. But at the same time I'd be thinking what, one person wasn't enough? Greedy ****.
That's just me though, I prefer to keep things exclusive.

But this thread isn't about sexuality, it's about IT.

I dont know enough about how the spores actually work to know whether that is plausible.

I feel like it probably wouldnt be with the thorian dead and not actively controlling the spores, though

So the implication is that his love/lust for both Brynn and femShep overlapped? That makes him look even worse.

For shame, Bioware.

Indeed. Saying she hopes Shepard dies to the reapers is over-the-top, though. She'd doom the entire galaxy just to satisfy her vindictiveness?

I just have a question to all the IDT people. What makes you think that BW is going to provide you with the closure you believe is coming. I mean the only press release I've seen on the EC DLC is that it's gonna provide more cutscenes and address (or some of) the litany of unanswered questions. It didn't sound like there'd be any further gameplay. So what, Sheppard breaks free of ID, the Reapers go home, the end. I just don't get how that satisfies.

Thanks. I watched it today after lunch. I must admit it's a pretty strong theory. Everything fits perfectly (unlike the "real" ending) and Bioware is not precisely known for not paying attention to their stories. But I don't have any hope. Why have they done this? Why the Indoctrination attempt is the last we see in the game? Well... yes, the last we see ingame is Shepard breathing in London, but you know what I mean.

Yeah, it is a little graspy but the spores still seemed to be doing something after the thorian died.

I'm just trying to see a way that we can save the indoctrinated people... this game is depressing in that way.

I, just like the person I was pretty damn depresed at the ending (little embarased to say so but I think it was late, I was tired so I guess it's excusible). But after watching that video I felt much, much better about it.

We don't know. Hell, it could be good, it could be really bad. Depends. As for gameplay, they never said "no gameplay" specifically, and some of the devs have tweeted suggesting otherwise. We'll find out I suppose.

Ah the thorian. I had forgotten that it had that potential. The spore idea makes sense. Being a ps3 owner I only have 2 playthroughs worth of experience with me1's story on the PC. They need to throw that game on the ps3 or the interactive comic needs way more depth.

In general though creatures with some form of hivemind seem to excibit reistance to indoctrination. The Thorian with its spores is one example and the Rachni Queen is the same.

Still though the Rachni were Indoctrinated once, but one might start to question to what degree now. It is interesting because allready back in ME2 I theorized that Sovereign drove the Rachni to war not to defeat the Council Races, but to get the Rachni killed. My reasoning abck then was that the Rachni was outside the cycle when it came to their weaponry with their heavy reliance on their natural acid which would bypass shields and melt armor, a potential threat to the Reapers.

Now I think it might also have been their resitance to indoctrination Sovereign wanted out of the way, though it is all theory.

This is good. The thing is if the Rachni couldn't be indoctrinated how did Sovereign drive them to war?

It is pretty clear that Indoctrination still affects them in some way (sour yellow note from space) and the Queen says that she hears their voices, but they hold no sway over her.

Maybe it is a gradual process, that the Rachni instead of losing mental facilities due to indoctrination instead gain mental reistance against it, the longer it goes on? Or they can only be affected to a certain degree, as in they can be driven towards something by it, but never lose full control of themsleves and once aware of it can fight back?

Whatever the case Sovereign might have driven them to war, creating the first agresion and letting the war escalate from there. We know from Javik that the Protheans specifically tried to control the most warlike Queens and with the memories beeing passed on the Rahcni Queens of the Rahcni wars would have the same memories as those of Javik´s time and as such probably also be warlike. If that is the case not much should be needed to ignite a new war.

Under taht pretext maybe Sovereign had hand in the Krogans uplifting and later fall as well, all in the name of weaknening the cycle? Though that is pure speculation from my part.

I don't know, being shot to the gut by your ex-boss who you currently out-rank while trying to do your duty might make you say things you don't really mean.

Gut wounds are a *****.

But seriously. Shilelds down when in open conflict? Rookey mistake.

Ash doesnt outrank Shep, she's the same rank.

Always annoyed me that Ash and Kaidan got multiple promotions but Shep never got a single one.
