Indoctrination has certainly got it's hold on me, I'm playing ME1 and at the point where I need to make a decision on whether to save the council, normally my paragon would not hesitate to save them, but thinking the council has been in a location where they themselves can become indoctrinated has got me thinking twice about it, if they are indoctrinated and signs to point to it ("ahh yes reapers, we have dismissed this claim") and they order all evidence to Sovereigns attack to be removed.
Hmm, writing that out helped me make a decision, sorry council, but you have to go.

This makes me smile. I just finished my latest ME1 playthrough and I chose to hold the fleet back as well. I never did that in like 20 times through the game. ME3 has had a profound effect on how I'm seeing things in regards to the other game.

The problem with that would be that you would need to eliminate the new council at some point too...not to mention Udina (which I wouldn't cry over and you do get to do)...but if the original council is indoctrinated, then there is no reason why the new council wouldn't be.

Agreed, I have to admit it's meta gaming on my part, but I've got several different outcomes stemming from ME1, I'd like to see how each play out in ME3 if Bioware decides to go with I.T in the EC, as I said in an earlier post, what's intriguing me most now are the conspiracies, can those you've come to know really be trusted, I mean I expected Udina to be an ass, but I certainly did not expect him to stage a coupe, I really hope we get more of this kind of thing, it's makes the story so much more interesting when the protaganist(and player) does not know who to trust.

But if the first council in indoctrinated, and you let them die, then the next council is indoctrinated anyway, so not only would they have to die, you're choosing to potentially have to kill twice as many people.

Also, the Destiny Ascension has a crew of about 10,000 Posted Image

So, you're willingly letting that many people die, whereas not only do you lose less human lives total if you save the DA, they die fighting for something, instead of helplessly dying for no reason.

And, the DA's asari navigator has a really cute voice Posted Image

I wanted to ask something that I tossed out there a couple of days ago, but it just got lost in the shuffle.

Playing through Mass Effect 1 again, specifically the Noveria mission I noticed something in some dialogue that I had previously missed. It's from the conversation with the Rachni Queen.

Shepard: 'Are you a survivor from the war? A clone?

Rachni Queen: 'We do not know. We were only an egg, hearing Mother cry in our
dreams. A tone from space hushed one voice after another. It forced the
singers to resonate with it's own sour yellow note.'

I am interpreting this as Harbinger's influence on the Rachni during the current cycle. Do the books/comics/games mention anywhere whether Harbinger has been more influential in the current cycle before ME2 and the Collectors?

That ones an old one, but to chime in I think it would be Sovereign not Harbinger who engineered the Rachni wars. Mostly because Harbinger is only shown controlling Indoctrinated creatures.

In short though I think the Rachni wars were engineered to get rid of the Rachni as they were developing outside some of the normal paths (heavy reliance on thier natural acid from what we saw which could bypass shields and melt armour, potential Reaper threat) and because they seem to develop a resistance to Indoctrination over time (Rachni Queen from ME3 who mentions hearing the Reaper voices but they hold no sway over her.)

As we know from Javik the Portheans tried to control the most warlike Queens, but failed and as they pass down memories from Queen to Queen that would mean the Queens of the Rahcni War would probably also have been warlike. As such not much was probably needed to push the colflict forward and then just letting things escalate, easily handled with some mild Indoctrination.

You're also forgetting something. Yes, the council might be indoctrinated, but in the long run, the loss of goodwill and all of the good sentiment from humanity's heroic reputation will only serve to hinder the war effort in the  long run, making you less likely to be seen as someone worth cooperating with, meaning humanity will be up the creek with no one willing to bail them out.

More insider info!

My Target cashier source just confided to me that Bioware is almost finished creating the ec dlc. I have been informed about 3 things:
Jacob has an unlockable personality.
Diana Allers is starchilds father.
Garrus is still ****ing awesome

Hi All,

Been lurking today, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I will probably be playing quite a bit of PC multiplayer this weekend. , If anybody wants to play, feel free to add me as a friend (or whatever EA calls it) - my username is someotherguy86.

Haven't played any MP...but just thought of a question for those that do...are the matches exclusive to the platform you are on?  I mean can 360 players only play w/360 players, PC players w/PC players, etc. or can you play with anyone online?  Just morbid curiosity more than anything else.

Yep, the MP is platform-exclusive.

Very true, but we better keep it to ourselves, lest we start another pc vs. console flame war.  :innocent:

Found another possible view to match Shepard's hallucination, just a reminder, I'm talking about the view with the single control panel.

yeah, the council chambers figure heavily in the hallucination. A lot of pivotal things happened there, so of course it would be foremost in Shepard's subconcious.

Up until ME3 I would have used the same argument as you, but it's no longer a moral decision, it's a pragmatic decision, the same paragon will also sacrifice earth if it means saving the entire galaxy, so that's 11billion humans in comparison to 10'000 aliens compared to trillions that make up the galaxy, I believe Garrus has it right, sacrifice one billion to save two billion, I'm not talking about attrition in the same way as the protheans, I'm talking about strategic sacrifice, most don't like to make the call, but sometimes you are left without any other choice, sometimes there is not "always another way"; and sacrifice is certainly one of the themes in ME3.

Yeah, but I also said that after something like 20 times through the game I still have never decided to sacrifice the council. I figured, **** it? Why not. I also disconnected the com feed after the turian councilor made that comment about going to any lengths to save a human colony. I had never done that either, Joker's commentary was funny.

This is my snarky playthrough I guess, not renegade, but definitely not paragon.

Hey fellow IT'ers, I've been lurking for a while now. Ever since the new Mark II thread opened up I've been trying to catch up. Honestly, between work and my engagement I've gotten to page # 133, I cant seem to catch up. Every time I read 20 pages, ya'll jump up to another 30 or so. So, If it's not to much to ask (even though I know it's alot of pages to cover), could you help a girl out and fill me in what I might miss by skipping towards the top of this valuable information, whether it be by links to interesting subjects, recommendations or by PM. I would be very grateful!

Nah. Unless the indoctrinating electromagnetic waves are in the visible part of the EM spectrum.

A more probable course of events would be for the Reapers to capture him after the trailer and then indoctrinate.

You know what I think?, everyone on earth is already in the first stages of indoctrination, you got reapers all across the planet and the citadel in orbit, and Shepard is the key to reversing the process, Shepard has had the ability to indoctrinate people throughout the series.

I have been thinking that he is kinda like the "anti" indoctrinatation, so many people believe in you and even say thing like "you give me strength to go on" and thing's like that. There's something about Shepard that the reapers can't touch.
