I've repeated this numerous times over how many threads I don't know.

That scene is. Too. Messed. Up. To. Be. Real.

I really don't understand taking it at face value, I wish I could understand, but I don't.

Stargazer, I take it.  It's ... uh, unusual. I honestly still don't know what to do with it, or how to interpret it.

The only thing I take from it is "One More Story" which should speak for itself.

Another big giveaway is that the scene is exactly the same regardless of which ending you pick. I dont care whether you believe in fate, convergence, or even the butterfly effect, there is no way those staggeringly different choices each result in that same exact conversation in the future. Even Synthesis, which basically rewrites the entire galaxy.

Any speculation about the crystal Eva (the Krogan female) gives you? Just played that again... but didn't find a use or mention to the crystal in the game. It's also a one time conversation.

It's Eve, Eva the robot Edi takes over.

Yeah it doesn't fit in with any ending you chose, or really anything.

When I read my first reviews about ME3 before I played it - a few places mentioned there was an end credits scene that was not game related but more a little scene about the wonder of sci-fi and where its stories can take us etc.

I tend to agree.

Of course, not that long ago Buzz Aldrin was in Australia and he got a reputation for being an arrogant ****** so that kind of killed it a bit. Then there was the voice acting....shudder. I don't know, maybe if I'd liked the ending it would have been more touching or something.

Both of you knew what I mean. (Btw, translation issue, in Spanish Eve is translated as Eva :P)

I don't know, it could also be seen as an olive-branch of reassurance to the audience that it didn't matter which one you picked: humanity pretty much ended up at the same place, and had a heroic story to tell about "the Shepard".

Of course, Bioware intentionally made (almost) all of the clues have an alternate double meaning in order to preserve the mystery and speculation.

A lot of people say Bioware = :wizard:

I say Bioware = :bandit::whistle:

Oh, I ultimately agree. I just don't know what to do with that epilogue.

It has a similar issue to the relay explosions and the Normandy crash: no anchor, only raw, untethered interpretation and speculation that occurs out of the blue.

As do I, mostly.  Its lack of connectivity troubles me more than it leaves me basking in wonder.

I like the sentiment behind what you pulled from the dialogue's meanings, and I actually think BioWare intended similar thoughts to yours.  It's just ... yikes.  From a narrative perspective, it's just dangling there.

Technically she only tells one person when you think about it and that's Shepard.

Didn't every Reaper you've met say something like "You are chaos, we represent order." which has nothing to do with anything being wiped out?

Just relistened to the 'dialog':
"Releasing the Crucible's energy will end the cycle, but it will also destroy the mass relays."

So...how is a 'cycle' actually defined?

If it's this sequence of 50k years, then why does the kid say, "A way to restore order for the next cycle"? Was there a cycle before that?

If it's one 50k year period, the kid also said, that Shepard's choice "will end the cycle". Well, isn't that what the Reapers are trying to accomplish, anyway? End the cycle by restoring order for the next one?

A cycle is defined by the Reapers returning to dark space at it's start and end. 50k years is only a rough number which can vary, sooner if the vanguard sees need for harvesting earlier, or later if the species aren't ready.
There is a difference between cycle, as in one unit of the whole that repeats over and over, and cycle, as in the whole.

I've never thought about it that way before, hmmm.......

Or you could say that each ending always results in the same fate for the Normandy crew, so the cutscene is always the same because they are always stuck there, hundreds of light years from any other species. (Assuming the Stargazer is on the planet the Normandy crashed on, and assuming that they were able to somehow reproduce with their very limited population).

One possibility is utterly brilliant, the other is riddled with plot holes. Seems like a pattern here.....

Aha, ok then. So the Catalyst never gave a guarantee that this makes it the last cycle.

Hm, maybe I should stop poking wholes in an other airtight logic.

You could argue as you only silhouettes and the plants are covered with snow you can't tell if synthesis is chosen anyway.

See my edit "There is a difference between cycle, as in one unit of the whole that repeats over and over, and cycle, as in the whole." though he can be "sly" and really only have the current cycle in mind :P
"In my cycle we used the rachni as living weapons."
vs
"We've created this cycle so that never happens."
same word, different meaning.

Personally, I like it.

We've got a giant addressing Shepard, telling him about one more story to come, saying there were more details to be found and for us to be patient since anything we can come up with could be present.
