For the first time in all my plathroughs I finally managed to get around to playing a fem Shepard with Kaidan alive (don't always like Kaidan but I usually pick Ash on impulse, honest). Didn't romance but the femshep line "You're my brother, Kaidan" OORH that just, right to heart y'know? I want my femshep to say that to Ash and Garrus.

Yeah, I always say... Garrus is my Shepard's best buddy. Kaidan is much much more. Their relationship goes beyond friendship, that's for sure.

You're right! I never considered that he survived that attack in shady circumstances! The same goes for Ash!

I've always wondered that, even toyed with the idea that Ashley/Kaidan are Reaper traps waiting to be sprung. You could say Kaidan got out with Biotics but then how did Ash? Two logical explanations: the Collectors did something to them and left them to find Shepard. Or, they were somehow left behind along with the rest of the frozen colonists when the Collectors pulled out (even though Ash/Kaidan were relatively close to the colonists being packed up).

It still can be for the events pre-Citadel Return (clarification) and a closing cutscene (closure). I hope it'll be more than that (some gameplay maybe).
