Dream starting with the crash would make the pile of bodies make more sense.

It makes the entire suicide run make more sense... conduit on Ilos anyone?

Yep, that's the impression I got. It's even called "the conduit", isn't it?

Yes it is.

You know, there's a few weird things with the dialogue in this game. A few time when it seems like they are talking to the player and not just Shepard.

The Arrival: "Step forward and you'll have all the PROOF you need."

- The proof that Shepard has indeed had the contact needed to be indoctrinated.

Directly before the mako crash: "Alright everyone, this. Is. IT." *crash*

- We were still on our way and had no idea what was to come yet, why was THAT it?

On the "citadel": "They're controlling YOU!" Right as anderson turns and faces the camera, turns and faces the PLAYER.

I'm probably reading to much into this but if all these interviews are any indication, Bioware is pretty good with words when they want to be.

That line becomes sweeter, every time I hear it.

It's ingenious:
A game, where the player is controlling the main character, is in fact being controlled by a character and loses control. Some got controlled towards chosing control.

I can understand why some players don't like a theory that suggest/hints something like this.

CONTROLCEPTION

In some way, even Synthesis is equivalent to control. Besides both not having a Shepard-breath scene, both are choices where the Guardian successfully convinced the player away from Destroy.

Now, consider the following: At the PAX Patrick Weekes explained, that in order to make saving the Geth an interesting choice for the player, the writers had to make the Quarians less innocent and the Geth' motivations more understandable.

And they accomplished that pretty well. Tali seemed now more of a racist, as did most of the Quarians, too. That felt like a naturally motivated shift of opinions the player has.

So the writers knew that the player's view on the previously bad guys had to be altered WAY before the actual choice had to be made, not a few minutes before that. It's a slow process to make the bad parties intentions more attractive.

That did not really happen with the idea of Controlling the Reapers. Yes, TIM always said how he thought it was important, but besides the mumbling at the end, no real arguments were given. No effort towards relativating both parties' standpoints.
Maybe I am too Paragon, but I didn't exactly feel like someone was challanging my world view in a natural way, but more in an aggressive way, forcing me into rethinking. And if I thought to much, I got a critical mission failure.

Ok, I have to ask this.

Is the planet shown after defeating Illusive Man even Earth?

It is when Shep and Anderson watch it. It becomes donut shaped in the catalysts room.

I need to go back and play all of Priority: Earth again, and pay attention to the frequency that the conduit is mentioned before they actually come up to it. Been a while since I've done so anyway (been a while since I've played non-MP, to be honest).

It's actually only called conduit after you've reached the camp.
There it's only EDI calling it conduit

Interesting to note is there are two versions of what Anderson says:
"We've got to drive right through the heart of Reaper-controlled territory, break past their defenses, and get to that beam."
and
"We've got to drive right into the heart of Reaper-controlled territory, breach their facility, and get to that conduit."
The second seems to be unused though.
Also in all the mission before killing the Reaper with the missiles it's called beam.

There was a third version that went viral: "There can be no stepping forward, no defeating Reaper forces, innocent people die."

Posted this yesterday with no response...but I am really curious if anyone else has noticed it.

"While playing SP today I seemed to notice something about the James "Hum" banter...is it just me, or does it seem to occur at the end of dialgogue strings that happen after missions that have heavy indoctrination implications (for example, it comes up after Sanctuary)."

Thoughts, dismissals, comments...

What about the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery? Or the Turian Reactor?

Not sure but what I remember from my last playthrough it does seem to appear after missions with direct Reaper involvement.

It doesn't show much indication other than clouds that it is Earth. Where are the shape of the continents, the distinct blue ocean?

How does it differ from this? http://www.youtube.c...1FFtVk3oE#t=47s

I think that we are on the same page...it does seem to have that obvious Reaper connection, but not so plainly that every mission where there is a reaper you can here that ending banter...for example I don't think I have ever heard it after Tuchanka or Rannoch (both whch have Reaper involvement, but not necessarily direct indoctrination implication).

This is just one of those things that is so easy to gloss over...but when you really think about the game from the IT perspective - it jumps out at you.

Maybe the bodies are real before the hit. Makes sense if the Reapers send people to the Citadel.

Doesn't explain the the bodies all being flat textures of Ash and Kaiden. Though I suppose from a distance they're real and Shep remembers and incorporates the piles in the dream but never saw  them up close so doesn't know what they look like.

Oh, I've gone cross eyed.

Personally I just think the low quality of the piles of bodies is a necessary evil. They aren't in main focus and actually building piles of real bodies is fiddly AND consumes memory that can be better spent.

The weird people on the citadel however...I mean, if they are being turned into a reaper why haven't they been melted down? And surely the Collector thing implies they need us "fresh" for making a Reaper, otherwise why not just kill everyone outright? And of course the blank, doll like features.
