Can't be, the conduit and the reason that Saren had to manually open the arms in ME1 say otherwise.

Just got in. So uh...I missed something. Could someone fill me in what they are talking about?

It's a little depressing but I think the final conclusion of I.T. is that we decide what really happens to "our" Shepard. Whether they were truly going to expand on player feedback or actually justify this with further content will be up for speculation until the EC comes out.
They did tweet photos of all those player feedback books they recieved on romances, etc...
So, considering the "whatever you like", this twist we're speculating about, also helps BioWare finish the story in ways that can please the most amount of the fans. I wouldn't call it lazy, I see it more like a final finish to a story that is co-designed by fans, and it really is. After all, there are up to 15k different stories floating around.
And with DLC, in the future critics would probably even accuse them of not having used the possibilities of DLCs to wrap up an interactive trilogy in an archaic way.
Yeah, I just hope people had good ideas and what not. A final confrontation with Harbinger isn't too much to ask is it?
Well, if IT is true, then technically we did that already. But since we had a showdown of words with TIM (even if he wasn't real) then having one right after with the other antagonist seems, odd. I definitely want to fight him in reality, in Reaper form
Yeah, that's what I mean. I know it may be too "videogamey", but since we already did the mental challenge with TIM and Harbinger, I'm ready for a physical fight with a monstrous TIM and I want to see Harbinger's yellow eyes fade to black.

Yeah, that would be a great ending to the game to destroy one of the lead reapers. We have been doing it for the whole game so why not put it at the end? Sure we killed one before going to the giant beam but that is not as satisfying as it would be if we killed Harbinger.

Why not you ask? Why not have a main "boss battle" in the finale? Well sir let me tell you why, because it would create the sense that the player is actually playing a video game, and no one wants that. No, why would the creative team behind ME3 decide to incorporate a boss battle into the "entry level" game to the franchise, even though it is in fact supposedly the finale to the story? I mean it's not like other very successful video game hits have had a boss battle, right?

Well....the last two Mass Effect games had a boss battle and they did extreamly well.

Okay I’ve
been looking through the in game models and textures again and I found something interesting. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the main idea behind the indoc theory is that the entire ending was a hallucination and everything we see is based upon something Shepard has seen while fighting the Reapers. While this could just be another case of Bioware re-using models/textures I found that the Reaper spikes/shards, whatever you want to call them, that make up the base of the conduit have been seen once before in the game. In the level with the Rachni Queen.
According to the game files this is one of the Reaper shards we see during the Rachni level.
And this is the Reaper shard that's a part of the Conduit.
Also I think the textures on the Shard look similar to those on that weird metal object we see in the scene
where Shepard breathes.

Congratulations Super Mario, you have reached the final battle, you must now choose to rescue the princess, defeat bowser, or help yoshi to grow some "magic shrooms" all choices while automatically doom all your friends with an asteroid impact rendering all your hard work absolutely pointless up until now, congratulations on wasting much of your youth...
...who else would have actually finished their homework if THIS is what Super Mario Bros. turned out?
1. According to the IT, the Joker/Normandy scene is all a dream meant to convey hope. While this answer may not satisfy some, it is far better than it being real b/c of the ridiculous plot holes if it is real.BlackswordSteve wrote...
Alright, so I've been reading up on the IT for awhile, and some of it seems convincing, but there's just a few things I'm not sure about.
1. What's with the Joker/Normandy scene and star gazer scene? Like, what do they have to do with Shepard being indoctrinated at all?
2. If Bioware actually had planned this all along, then wouldn't that mean that people without an internet connection would just be screwed from having the real ending?

Hmmm....Well I guess they'll be missing out on the ending and any other DLC.

I really am convinced 99% of the ending sequence is meant to be a puzzle, was thinking about the stargazer scene yesterday when someone brought up the lyrics to the song + image that seems to have inspired the scene. Seems like it could be another piece of evidence, if not a minor one.
That's a concern I've thought about ever since I started considering the full stretch of the theory, and it's still one of my aggravations with the idea in general. It'll certainly be a stress test on the online vs. unplugged crowd for the consoles, and I hope BioWare have a contingency plan (instructions) in place for the offline folks.
That's a problem, whether you're considering IT ... or the EC in general.

Yeah, I think making the image look so much like the space winter wallpaper was on purpose, not just "hurr durr copypasta hurr durr".
