Well, after the Citadel was open and Crucible installed and place, it should be obvious that Shepard is alive. When Hackett contacted him. So, Normandy may have been landed on Earth, and took the crew to go to the Citadel and try rescue Shepard.
But when it all went strange, so Joker may have decided to run away from dangerous thing.

*snip*

How does Shepard survive the citadel blast though?

And going back to the discussion about birds in the endings, it looks like Control is in fact the only one without them in all instances that I saw.

BUNK! Again. Birds in the control scene. Looks like the birds might tie into your LI, or Joker/EDI.

Throughout the game and in the destroy ending I understand that predator = paragon while carnifex = renegade. What does the star child's ghostly form represent in relation to his corporeal form?

I think the point is that the blast wave highlights the tool or "means to an end" being employed by Shepard.

In destroy, it highlights the gun as his tool, and changes it back to the Predator, which has been a symbol of good and of breaking indoctrination.

In control, it highlights starbinger as the tool that is manipulating Shepard, by momentarily changing him into the corporeal form he was in when they first "met".

Let's look in the synthesis ending then, maybe where there's a shockwave? I find the lack of Starbinger in it odd, though

Yeah, I havent been able to put my finger on the Synthesis ending. I believe that in Control, Shepard is submitting to becoming the consciousness for the upcoming Human Reaper. But Synthesis is just him agreeing to the concept of organics being melted down into Reaper building material. So why would that be Starbinger's preferred outcome? There has to be something we're not seeing.

Then a few seconds later, a logical explanation was revealed.;)

To answer your question, I'll refer to the audio files on the disk that have dialog between Anderson and Joker arriving on earth "just in time." There are also files of Shepard yelling go get out of here in that same package. This can be heard in the deleted scene of garrus and liara getting hit by the reaper beam.

Bioware cut out the part where joker picks them up if they survive. Why? I have no idea.

I do. Because it hasnt happened yet.

In any case... how do literalists explain that your squadmates during London mission are in the Normandy in the end? Can't think of a bigger evidence supporting IT. Well... in fact I can.

Well, I prefer IT. But that ending also works for me if they make it nice.

EDIT: Actually I misunderstood it, I don't like it a bit.

@Lord Goose

Joker told you earlier in the game that he's with you till the end, I doubt he would leave even without Shepard's corpse...

I really want to know the situational parameters in which BioWare gives us the bird.

*rimshot*

This is really, really peculiar.

If it was cut, it shouldn't be considered as part of an explanation because strictly speaking it did not happen.

Birds are probably an asset in that scene. They are moving freely and randomly so when recording those different videos they are in different positions.

I think it's fairly clear the birds are always there, and that they are just randomly placed somewhere in the sky. The only time we have no opportunity to see the birds is during the bad destroy ending, because we dont get past the door opening. Though in that ending, we have that creepy volume echo thing applied to the bird sounds. I wish I could figure out what that means.

That's where my mind was at earlier, which indicates free-roaming environmental elements in a very brief scene with no gameplay.

Hmm.

And thats the same reason I dont buy the whole "Dark Energy" thing. Even if it wasnt a red herring by Bioware meant to throw us off, it is NOT the ending we got, and cant be used as a factor in any theorizing.

A long time ago, in a page far far away, TSA uploaded the six different sound backgrounds (cleared up) for that scene. In my opinion, during the bad destroy ending, it is marching sounds in it. Don't have the link anymore, but maybe when TSA pays us a visit, he might.

The only justification would be if BioWare was planning to use "Dark Energy" in the future.

Here are the possibilities I can come up with, in order of most to least likely (imo):

1) Dark Energy ending was always meant to be a red herring to throw us off
2) Dark Energy was originally meant to be the Reaper's false motivation used to try and indoctrinate Shepard, but was changed to Synthetics vs Organics
3) Dark Energy ending was planned, but scrapped due to leaks/player feedback
