So the nomandy is trying to indoctrinate you?

Why else would the Normandy be generating infrasonic noise?

Well aren't sound waves from indoctrination often heard? Could this be a sound effect from the Core?

No, and No.

I thought Vega heard a humming noise in the shuttle bay and that thought to be an effect of indoctrination.

I'm not sure about anybody else, but the reason I found that comment to be significant is that the only other time in the series that a humming sound is nonchalantly mentioned like that, it turns out be really important to the plot.

Havent you noticed anytime Hackett is available to talk to, Traynor tells you Hackett is available on the QEC?

Its not like he's always there, its more like he's there at certain times and Traynor lets you know when its possible to contact him.

Yes, but I can do subquests for hours and he still waits on the QEC.

This is no different than the invincible Dreadnought in the prologue that waits for Shepard to step forward far enough before it decides to blow up. :P

We should just keep Shepard standing in that one spot in Vancouver for the duration of the war and use that one dreadnought to single-handedly slaughter every Reaper in the galaxy.

I do have to say though, despite how "stressful" that scene was, that deep, bassy thrum from the Hades Cannon firing was very impressive if you have the audio setup to accurately reproduce it.

Oh, very cinematic.  Just terrible to play through.  I remember having to time when I could actually pop out of cover to shoot, which isn't very comforting when you're being overwhelmed by Husk forces.

Speaking which, the landing is actually a more intense firefight then even the Missile Trucks section.  For me, at least.  Dealing with loads of Brutes and Banshees isn't hard when there's a bunch of Cobras handed to you, but a bunch of Cannibals and Marauders, with a Brute coming at you when your screen is shaking?  Eeek.

I completely missed those Cobras. :P

Fortunately, Mass Effect has never been a frustratingly hard series.

I missed the cobras too, andi t was definitely a frustratingly hard fight for me!  The sad part is that I was playing as a vanguard.  :pinched:

Well they probably were, ever game has its share of angry fanboys/trolls.  Just not in such large numbers.

And hey, if they don't like what's coming then its no loss to Bioware really.  They already have their money.

Wow, that was cold of me.

A trilogy-in-one 'remastered edition' would be amazing though.  So long as they leave the Mako alone.  Don't touch it!

LOL. I once stood there for several minutes waiting to see what happens and it refused to be taken out.

I think it still stands, since its would then be catering to a small audience but is sold to a bigger audience.  Hense, the hardcore fans (who will keep talking about it regardless, and we know what word of mouth can do) do all the replaying and theorising, and enjoy the twists and turns.  And then when the dust settles, the hardcore fans spread the word to everyone else about the new improved ending.

And thus lots and lots of money is made.  Twice.

Problem is, Bioware wasnt counting on the third audience. The one that becomes irate over not having an ending that is what they pictured and were promised, and then close off their minds to the possibility of IT, which just so happens to be the only thing that can end up fulfilling those promises.

But yeah, several of us have come up with similar theories. I can already picture the box sets that include all 3 games (sorry, PS3), with all the DLC.

I don't even care so much about missing out on ME1. Just give me an interractive comic that doesnt completely skip out on the events surrounding the Thorian on Feros. WTH where they thinking when they skipped that?

Playing as a Vanguard in my recent ME2 playthrough.

I've cursed whoever balanced the game several times already.  Its mega frustrating, and the worst thing is I know its because I suck and not because Vanguards are bad.

Though Shotguns are.  Definately.  Terrible.

Yeah, every time byne mentions how easy the game is when you're a vanguard, a tiny piece of  my self-esteem evaporates!  :crying:

Nah, just kidding.  I have long since made peace with the fact that I suck at videogames - it doesn't keep me from playing them!

Only two things I can imagine are that Bioware outsourced the creation of the comic to someone who wasnt aware of the major overarching plot-important points, or that the Thorian on Feros isnt as significant as we might believe.

I have a hard time getting behind either possibility.

Or maybe they've hidden its significance by making it seem insignificant.

On a similar note, that Thermal Pipe you get for Adams never goes anywhere either. On my first playthrough I was like "Oh, this is going to be just like the three important upgrades in ME2", especially when they described the exact situation it would be useful in...

Well, not every player can run around with sniper rifles and land headshots without zooming.

I was proud of myself after having discovered that that destroyer's laser could be used to take down the reaper troops. Sadly, I was too stupid to effectively use it without getting fried myself. Ironically, I was preparing myself for Harbinger beam.

Yeah, really hard to believe that over 2 or 3 dozen lines of cutscene were spent on something that gives you a few EMS.

Huh, random side note:

I was just watching the fake Siri Horror Movie trailer on my iPhone.

I do this every once in a while, to let my phone know I'm on to it, and that it'd better not try anything.

Anyways, I accidentally dropped my phone, and when I picked it up, the Siri menu had come up and was waiting for a reply...

I think my iPhone actually is  trying to kill me...

"One study has suggested that infrasound may cause feelings of awe or
fear in humans. It was also suggested that since it is not consciously
perceived, it can make people feel vaguely that supernatural events are taking place."

That is very interesting, yes.

It helps quite a bit. Over time we've researched all of the various elements that are cited as causes/signs of indoctrination, and they all seem to legitimately link up to real life sciences. In that particular example, infrasound is cited as a cause for people becoming unsettled and experiencing sensations of "fear and awe".

It also means if such sounds are in the game, that heavily hints towards attempted indoctrination of the player! Or at lest some sort of emotional manipulation...

Interesting indeed...

"respondents reporting anxiety, uneasiness, extreme sorrow, nervous feelings of revulsion or fear, chills down the spine and feelings of pressure on the chest."

That would explain the exhaustion I mentioned.

Yeah, I'm dying for video based proof of the infrasonic sound on the normandy. I trust TSA, but we need proof in order to present it to the playerbase at large. We need video of a woofer vibrating at inaudible frequencies while on the Normandy.

I really wish my expensive ass subwoofer didnt come with a crossover that limits it to 19hz....
