Ok  then smart guy, why not inform me what a realistic soloution would have then? NO answers for anything? Yeah that makes alot of sense.

This may be the tired talking but: If "The very fact that it solves everything is what's wrong with it" then  "a solution that doesn't answer everything" is positive therefore his interpretation of the literal ending which has many questions but very few answers would be satisfactory by his own definition...SO he shouldn't be upset at all about his literal view and should praise Bioware for the current ending without complaints....Right?

@BleedingUranium: I'm amazed that someone who wrote a long and well thought out essay on the problems with the endings would immediately get all mardy as soon as someone expresses a different opinion. Must be Sheldon Cooper.

I was just thinking about how the game really rubs in that you totally defeated the reapers, no doubt about it, with the track title, stargazer and pop-up. It seems either they knew the ending was way to vague and decided to tell and not show to sort it out, or they're giving false assurances.

I was also thinking about how 'an end once and for all' is immediately followed by 'das malefitz'. It's almost saying "the end... psyche!"

What is
'das malefitz'? This is the first I've heard of it.

Nothing he said, from what I could force myself to read, made any sense to me. It seemed that he was just demonstrating a complete and utter lack of depth and understanding.

It's the tune that plays over the credits. I've always found the name suspicous.

I think he is basically saying that it would make it so "easy" to fix the problems that it would essentially be a cop-out.

Now I have a bad taste in my mouth because I'm trying to rationalize his thought processes....

I'm not trying to win, I've come to the conclusion that arguing with someone who believes BW sucks at writing or is lazy is no different than arguing with a solipsist. For those who don't know, that's someone who believe's that nothing other than themself is real. You can't show them evidence because it goes against their core belief.

BleedingUranium, I've gotta say, I have a tremendous amount of respect for your ability  to deal with unreasonable people like that in such patient fashion. It's truly a shame that those people dont allow themselves to open up to your reasonings and at least acknowledge them. I wouldn't even attempt to engage with those individuals, much less be that patient with them.

Also, I love how he instantly dismissed my point about each choice matching perfectly to Shep/TIM/Saren, and that even in a literal ending you should know which choice to pick, as being subjective, but insists that we can't debate that the end was bad writing, because him thinking it's bad writing isn't subjective Posted Image

His "long and well thought out essay" is borne from willful ignorance and lack of depth. A coherent thought process, perhaps, but based on a misunderstanding due to lack of comprehension.

I'm pretty sure our old friend Sovereign has a fitting quote:

I just mean it's interesting someone would go to the effort of writing a detailed summary of their opinion and then decide it's the only valid opinion. I ony skimmed it by the way, I've read enough other blogs and stuff to know exactly what is wrong with the ending.

Here is a youtube comment I turned up while looking into the title of the credits song:

BTW The credits song's title is "Das Malefitz" which is a rarely used German expression that roughly translates to "Renegade action" (Evil, ruthless, godless action). "Der Malefitz" would be a renegade. (from lat. Maleficium (profane/godless) misdeed, or maleficus evil, bad, godless)

Welp, looked it up and "Das Malefitz" means nothing, other than it is the name of the song by a group called the Faunts, an electronic Rock band from, you guessed it, Edmonton.

They also created M4 Part 2, the song that played over the Mass Effect 1 credits.

Das Malefiz is german for "The Malevolent"

Das MalfiTz means nothing.

It's not Czech, Bulgarian, Belarusan, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hungarian or Icelandic.

Apparently, **** Google translate.

If that thing that Hellish turned up is true, that's HUGE!

It also sounds like M4 Part 2, also by The Faunts, that plays during the credits of ME1 (the 8 minute tune) but without any lyrics. Interesting note, the lyrics for the song are thought to foreshadow the events of ME2, but can also potentially foreshadow a bit of IT sounding so similar to the ME3 credit music,

I have wondered about you

Where will you be when this through

If all goes as planned

Will you redeem my life again?

Fire the fields the weed is sown

Water down your empty soul

Wake the sea of silent hope

Water down your empty soul

Fight your foes you're on your own

Holy war is on the phone

Asking to please stay on hold

The bleeding loss of blood runs cold

And I need you to recover

Because I can't make it on my own

Oh, well, excuse me then [/feigned frustration]

Well, Google translate sucks balls, so we need a German. I'll get the Sauerbraten, you get the fishing pole and we'll go find a metroline someplace and see if we can catch one.

EDIT: Or I suppose, if you want to be boring we could see if the band has a twitter page and ask them what the name means.
