It might sound weird but I don't like that the HUD in MP doesn't make me invincible for the time it's visible allowing me to take my time and carefully choose what power and on whom I want to use.Dwailing wrote...

I always want to slap the players who are like 4-5times ahead of the rest of the team(unless the rest of the team are really useless of course)
I felt like that about teammates with Reegars.
I have seen that gun a lot, can't say I have it yet though. There is another sniper rifle(geth I think) that basically acts as a cannon simply shoot near the target and it does damage(it's my favourite sniper rifle mainly because I suck)
Are you thinking about the Turian Krysae sniper rifle? I really want that.

Thanks for linking that. For some reason I have never heard of that before. I understand the idea (Ferris Bueller) but never gave it any thought outside of comedy. I think it gives more weight to Dwailing's idea. I made the comment 3 months ago that Bioware is playing their own version of eXistenZ. ME3 is the gooie intestine that connects to the brain and we are all characters in an alternate reality game. Not a great analogy but it's all I got right now.paxxton wrote...

EDIT: This. http://dictionary.re...wse/fourth wall
Some sitcoms use that now and then.
Recent example is Two and a half men: Jon Cryer does a dramatic chipmunk into the camera.
classic example is Fresh Prince: Will does that multiple times.
More on topic example: Fight Club has Brad Pitt and Edward Norton doing that. Edward Norton's character even explains the principle of cutting film rolls together to the audience.
In ME3: we assume that Admiral Anderson looks into the cam (aka the player) when he says "No, they're controlling you!".
So in cinema and tv it's a common tool, since it originated theater. In video games...not so common. Hence, though a very powerful technique but in video games the audience doesn't know what to do with it, yet.
Best example of breaking the 4th wall. Marvel vs Capcom Deadpool(would it be anyone else) rips down his health bar and beats his opponent with it

OK, that might be the coolest thing I've heard all day. Also, on an unrelated note, I just bought Dragon Age 2. I think I'm going to just start it and work on it while I'll play DA:O.

OK, I had an idea last night in the shower around 12:30 a.m. so it's a little crazy, but I think it's worth sharing. We've all talked about how the gun represents Shepard's willpower and Anderson represents the unindoctrinated section of Shepard's mind. So, I was thinking last night about this, and I realized that it's possible that the scene where we see Anderson holding the gun has meaning as well. (Just as a heads up, you guys should know by now that I'm of the opinion that the hallucination started right after the crash. Also, I'm going to go with an idea that popped up earlier that the beams being fired by Harbinger represent his attempts to invade Shep's mind.)
Now, we first see the gun in Anderson's hand. To me, this could represent that the unindoctrinated part of Shepard's mind is able to fight back against indoctrination. It's armed and in control. Then, the beam comes, and "Shepard" gets knocked out and Anderson disappears. When he comes to, he finds the gun, his willpower.
So now, I'm going to share the REALLY crazy idea. What if, Casey Hudson was being quite literal about the player being Shep? Meaning, what if the Shepard that we control in the end sequence is LITERALLY a representation of the player. We have Shepard's willpower litterally in our hands, and it's up to us what we do with it. Jump to the end, now, you, the player, are completely in control. You have to decide what to do with Shepard's willpower. Do you throw it away by choosing Control or Synthesis. Or do you use it to stay strong, stick to Shepard's beliefs, and win this battle?
I think this could be an explanation for the presence of an actual representation of Shepard. I mean, think about it. Anderson is the unindoctrinated part of Shep's mind. TIM is the representation of the indoctrinated part of Shep's mind. What could the actual Shepard that we see and control be? A representation of the player. Yeah, I know it's kind of crazy, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share.
Edit: Wow, I think I actually made a wall of text. Wasn't sure I'd ever make one of those. Glad I was wrong.
Bumping and tweaking slightly.

What you are talking about is actually the main premise of Indoctrination Theory. Battle Shepard's willpower wages to save his mind's unindocrinated part (Anderson) and destroy the Reapers' influence in his mind (TIM). Then his wounded mind (willpower joined with the unindoctrinated part) is once more attempted to be compromised by the Reapers in the Starchild's Chamber.Dwailing wrote...

Wouldn't it be great if an english teacher could look through those 16 lines of dialog and let the red marker speak.

Yeah, I know, this thread and it's predecessor have already seen a discussion about the Catalyst's words in terms of pure logic. It's just that he often switches words in odd ways and uses his infamous 'yo dawg'-logic.
Thus, mostly making sense if you put his talk under a rigorous analysis, but not if you're in Shepard's fried shoes where he's battleworn and tired.
I know what it's like. I, too, have morning lectures.

VERY interesting indeed. I actually only know one other game that does this. Secret Files, a point-and-click adventure. The female lead has several remarks that break the fourth wall, such as "The lead designer did not allow us to put in timed puzzles." And stuff like that. At one point she speaks about being in a game too
Edit: And of course Monkey Island. I'm a ****ing retard.
I was just playing Monkey Island (Xbox Live version -as an aside love it, have both MI and MI 2: Le'Chuck's Revenge)...and they break the 4th wall several times...
