It's from a leak that is apprently somewhat trustworthy

"An expanded ending for Mass Effect 3. Additional scenes and an extended epilogue reveal the impact of Shepard's choices on the future of the galaxy."

http://www.reddit.co..._to_believe_me/

Except his EC 'leaked info' is basically just paraphrasing what the EC has already been described as.

And on top of that, his other leak was just MP stuff, so I'd assume he's a beta tester or something. The multiplayer and single player stuff is done by different groups, so I dont see why a person involved in the multiplayer portion would get advance info on the EC.

Yeah, not really anything new for the EC, but I think he somehow gets to see the official descriptions that go onto the website before they are uploaded. He did correctly predict rebellion pack and his descriptions seem copypasted.

All the leak says is EC will come out about the same time as some Earth MP maps, which we expected anyway. I don't know why people keep looking so much in to the wording which say what we know already.

No press release or statement by anyone at Bioware (to my knowledge) has said anything along the lines of, "reveal the impact of Shepard's choices on the future of the galaxy", regarding the EC. And this is apparently the product description. IF the leak is true, then I find it interesting. It could be referring to the ending choices. All I'm saying.

Do we know that they're actually counting the overall scores from the weekend events and not just giving us the "right" answer each time to advance us towards our ultimate plot point of the "take back earth" multiplayer DLC?

No idea, to be honest. They could be making up the results for all we know...

Well, i remember the "kill tons of banshees" one failed. Or at least i think so. So at least they don't let us win all the time.

I personally dont see any reason to doubt the leak. Is that not the way BW would word it? Why would he post a fake leak regarding the EC if it doesnt include anything controversial?

I still dont fully buy that we actually failed Operation SILENCER.

The description for it said that they were going to let the vorcha loose on the Reapers as soon as we completed SILENCER, and conveniently, we dont complete it, and have to wait a few more weeks for vorcha to be let loose.

Plus its pretty convenient that our failure of SILENCER forced us to abandon lots of asari colonies, just like what happened in the single player story.

Also, Hackett's message announcing the failure said the reason we failed was because the Reapers learned from GOLIATH and know how to protect their own forces now.

Even if we did fail SILENCER, it seems like it was designed to be failed.

Good point. And this guy was spot on about Rebellion. Like, SPOT ON. He basically copied the product description into his leak, and I think that is what he has done here as well. IMO, no reason to distrust him.

So if the leak is true, this also implies that Bioware is going to remain silent about what's in the EC until we download it and play it. Wouldn't you think? I mean, if the details are vague in the product description, then I doubt Bioware will say anything more than that pre-release. It sounds like whether or not the IT is true, we will have to find out in game, not from Bioware's mouth beforehand.

So I'd bet the 'stuff' Gamble mentioned he'd be talking about at SDCC will probably be a release date. Maybe a coupe other things. But as secretive as Bioware has been playing this so far, I doubt for them to say much more than what we already know before we actually play the EC. Gamble also said at PAX that he wants the EC to speak for itself. So, to me anyway, it sounds like we won't know much of anything until we find ourselves replaying the ending with the EC.

Which in a way kind of gets me excited. If they are going to reveal the indoctrination twist, that would seemingly be the way to do it. In game.

I agree, MP is going through it's own story line that will sync up with SP. What happens when it does sync up though? Will MP just stop being updated. I think the war with the reapers will go on in both SP and MP, after the reveal.

Also earlier someone posted this from the Cerberus News Network:

01/10/2011 - Scientists on Mars Assess New Chamber in Prothean Ruins“Controversy brews tonight as scientists on Mars assess the contents of a newly opened chamber in the Prothean ruins. The opening has been a dream of exoarchaeologists for decades, delayed by the many steps necessary to replicate Prothean code keys and crack the cryptography for entry. Critics say the Milky Way Foundation, which provided supercomputers for the cryptanalysis, could hoard any Prothean discoveries. Dr. Unira T'Lam, liaison from the Citadel Committee on Paleotechnology, says she's been kept in the dark. "Foundation personnel have orchestrated a security system that keeps out everyone except a select cabal," she accuses. "Anything could be taken from inside and we'd never know." Dr. Ilsa Warren, who heads the analysis unit, dismisses the allegation. "We've made it clear all technology stays in situ throughout the cataloging and analysis process, which could take years," she says. "Dr. T'Lam's fears would be more appropriate closer to the end of the decade."”

That provides a satisfactory face-value explanation for why the Crucible plans werent found until now. But I'm still leaning heavily towards it being a Reaper trap or contingency rather than what we believe it to be. If it were a mass accelerator or something similar, we would surely be able to determine that.

*raises hand* 'twas I, resident lore nerd. And I agree it's very likely a Reaper trap. I didn't mean it as in "no it's legit, look here", rather "no they mentioned it before ME3, look here".

Raistlin Majare 1992 wrote...

Not necesarily. If it as i theorize it might do, turns the Citadel into the Mass Accelerator cannon by reconfiguring the Citadel relay then it is feasible it would b impossible to know before you connect it.

But it is good point none the less as we with all those sciencetist working on the Crucible should have some idea of what it does if it in itself was the weapon. To me it is almost dead certain that the Citadel is what is really gonna determine the affect (whatever it is) as that would explian why we dont know what it will do.

The thing is the work of "countless" cycles, each one improving upon it. Think about that for a moment. The Reapers clean up thoroughly enough that new cycles don't even know the Reapers exist, there's just ruins of the previous civilization. To quote Dr. T'Soni, "It's as if something came along after the Protheans were gone and cleansed the galaxy of clues." So they're that thorough, but each and every time the plans for this omniweapon slipped by? Even though at the very least the last 2 cycles didn't even manage to get off an "OMG, there's an army of synthetic Cthuhlu's out there, don't let them take you by surprise!" scrawled in blood somewhere? No way. I positively refuse to believe that. If the Crucible isn't a Reaper trap, I'll consider it a plot hole so massive that it has its own gravitational pull.

I like the balls(?) that asari scientist has, accusing humanity of trying to keep prothean discoveries secret.

I guess the asari would know all about keeping prothean discoveries secret, wouldnt they?

Ha! Nice catch! I can't believe I missed that the first time around.

I'm pretty sure they are counting them, but they're setting the goals to be either very easily accomplished or virtually impossible. The last few have been "seriously? that's it?" with the exception of the banshee one, which was insane.

I think it is more likely that they are "putting their hands on the scale" by choosing how difficult the criteria for a successfu mission will be. For example, killing three million banshees is very very hard, whereas I think we would have completed 100k retrieval missions even if there was nothing special going on.

Yup - it's nice to be proved right on that hunch a month later
I reckon they'll keep it going after the big reveal - I'll bet someone £20 that there'll be an "omega" map and surrounding MP event to go with the "Retake Omega" DLC after the EC.

Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love the multiplayer, but simply making news posts and adding maps in chronological order seems like kind of a weak tie-in. There has to be something else they could do to have a more profound effect. Maybe they'll surprise us.

Not only that, but if it did turn out to be a mass accelerator of some kind, it would probably turn out like an episode of space-dragonball z, complete with Harbinger cursing Shepard's name and going NOOOOOOO as he's vaporized. Not a very strong climax to the series, if you ask me.

I still like the idea of having random events where instead of the shuttle arriving at the end of wave 11, some huge enemy arrives, and you have to take it down before the shuttle can land. It'd give bonus credits/xp and be good incentive to actually bother trying to survive wave 11.

For maximum effect, BioWare should just subtly include it in a patch or DLC pack without mentioning it.

It'd be all 'Get to the extraction point! Ha, just kidding, it's actually a thresher maw! Good luck with that!'

A retrieve objective will become a hundredfold more interesting once you have a destroyer waiting for you if you chose the wrong path.

That quote seriously made me laugh, lol.

What would also be funny is if the pilot prematurely says "The team is down, returning to base!" as soon as the Thresher Maw showed up.
