Alright, a little off topic, but I just finished Deus Ex human revolution.
Best game/story of 2011.
I don't deny that it was a great game, but I would humbly suggest that Batman: Arkham City was superior.
Edit: Until I played Arkham City, Deus Ex, might have been my favorite game from last year. However, it was a strong year for gaming, and I don't necessarily like to declare that one game was THE best from last year. Almost all the major releases that year succeeded in what they were trying to accomplish.
I absolutely loved the story. I loved the combat and stealth system. Those killing cutscenes looked freaking awesome. And crawling behind desks with FEMA soldiers scanning the area in Vancouver was a one in its kind experience.
Well, that IS a good reason for you to think it is best.

I remember a german game magazine writing that in some ways it was very similar to Mass Effect. So, is it?

I found deus ex's realistic and engaging story to be slightly better than batmans.
However batman has better gameplay and more puzzles.
I dunno i still like deus a tiny bit better. both still amazing games.
Like I said, last year was a GREAT year for games. Almost every major release succeeded at what it was trying to do. And for me, Arkham City was the best. For others, it might have been DE: HR, Portal 2, BF3, Skyrim, or any number of other games (My favorite shooter from 2011 was actually Crysis 2, although it could have something to do with how I never played BF3.)

I don't claim that it's anywhere near DX: HR. I just think it's a fun game, if you can look past the slightly clunky gunplay and the myriad of bugs and glitches (Like I said, it's made by Obsidian. If you don't expect bugs and glitches from one of their games, you're definitely going to be disappointed.).

It's not as good looking or polished as Mass Effect, and the gameplay is clunkier, but in some ways the dialogue, or at least the dialogue trees, is/are actually deeper, and the decisions can have major effects on the way the game progresses.

I'm guessing it involves modding. Maybe Bioware shouldn't have put so much of the DLC on disc.

Yeah, I third this. It's VERY likely that the devs would have watched Blade Runner, so they would know what's what. I wonder where they stand on that particular debate?

Eh, I've been playing Fallout 3 a little bit, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Part of me says that it's pretty atmospheric, but another part of me says that the gunplay is clunky and the game seems to lack drive. Although, the experience of frenzying the Fire Ant Queen and then killing her with a COMBAT KNIFE while she was distracted by a robot is something I don't think ANY game will EVER let me repeat.

I think the addition of this particular scene in Director's Cut pretty much settled it and there are a lot other hints for the same conclusion imo. But yeah, I'd like to know their opinion on this=]

IT: he is waking up on Earth
NON-IT: NO HE IS NOT! YOU STUPID
if he is not on earth, than is the Citadel now made of cement and Rebar and just covered in Metal? because if that is the case then why have it with Mass Effect fields? to keep it afloat? no need in space. to give people an atmosphere? that is part of it, but ME fields are mainly used to protect Ships and Stations from ship fire. so, why would the council okay the use of a primitive building material to repair the Station? or did they use Cement and Rebar on the Crucible, even though it is a stupid idea?
