Alos, for the guy who thought the Citadel was Ass-backwards in one of the CG shots, it's not.

..That's actually interesting, though I guess someone just forgot to add the beam in that scene. Just as somebody discovered in another thread that the Crucible actually docks on the wrong side of the Citadel in a cutscene. Embarassing mistakes.

It does not dock in the wrong side, it was proven that the person who claimed that was wrong.

The beam is there, but you have to remember its size. Its about 1.5 meters in diameter, compare that to the lights on the citadel which are each about 25 meters (if not more).
Keep in mind the Citadel is emitting the beam (in that screen the lights are at least 50m wide), and it just isn't visible as its too narrow to see from that distance.

Thanks Megumi for that shot; where exactly in the game is that scene from? I don't believe I've noticed it before. As for your observations; an object with a 5m circumference probably shouldn't show at that distance even if it is producing that many lumens, but I thought that they'd include at least some indicator of the connection from a theatrical point of view, at least a closeup would have been nice considering the london beam is a pretty big deal.

It's strange because when the beam is activated we can see it from very far.

Assuming the Citadel is roughly in a satellite orbit of about 384,000km from the earth I would assume it's about two to three times that from the camera angle I provided, where as when Shep's in london we would only be about 48km away at a maximum (I'd honestly say no more than 20km at the furthest). Also, can I point out that the Citadel must have one heck of a GPS system, how else would it keep the beam in such a constant static holding pattern :wizard:)

If I knew that, I'd get a Noble Prize for inventing the Space Elevator. Posted Image

EDIT: Actually, there is a way. The Citadel has to have a specific angular velocity when stationed at a given orbital height.

I think you were just yourself, which confirms the hypothesis that just being yourself is the best way.

I disagree partially.

You are playing less the role of "self control" and more the concious part of the mind, the Ego, while Shepard listens to appeals from his Superego (Anderson) and his Id (TIM).

And yes I already know that Freud has as much to do with modern Psychology as Phlogiston has to do with modern chemistry, but well, tell writers that.

Besides, it still makes an interesting dichotomy.

Interesting. We ALL know about Walters's degree in psychology, so he would know this stuff. I just thought this was an interesting idea. Don't you have a minor in psychology?

Off topic certainly but just out of interest, as a Brit (who clearly knows nothing about the Anerican education system) what is a minor (in this context obviously)?

For those who care: episode three of RvB season 10 was pretty good. Mix of Freelancer and present day stuff this time.

Plus I think Simmons might be a hipster, since he's listening to music you 'obviously havent heard of yet'

I don't think it's humanly possible to have as much resonance as old Baz, kind of scary that I still assessed your speaking voice based on the way you write.. As for Lou Rawls, we should celebrate his awesomeness with some lasagna and this.

University thing (we call it college)

when going for your degree (which ranges from Bachelor - 2 years, Associate - 4 years, Master's - 8 years i think and Doctorate - 8+ years) you decide on a field to major in, like Anthropology or psychology or education or nursing, ect. Sometimes you can dual major and major in two fields, like I have a dual Anthropology/Philosophy major. You can also elect to minor in something, which basically means you have made a study of it, but it not your focus even though you have some qualifications.

Hahaha, I am sure that in the next 200 years that our tech (let alone Reaper) would be more than able to keep a consistent pinpoint accurate vector, but I just find it the thought of Shepard about to limp into the beam only for it to bump 3 meters away from him at the last moment hilarious.

Former choir Bass singer (My old choir teacher kicked me out when I asked her "Is this the part where you tell me how to think?") and generally my speaking voice sounds more like;
Come to think of it, so does my attitude. ;) and indeed, lasanga for everyone!

Oh wait. Lasanga for no one. Which can still be just as much of a celebration if you don't like cheese, true?

Thanks alot, I've been wondering that for a while, our system is similar just differently named and less 'official' for lack of a better word. Also I realise I could have just googled this but that would require making sense, and what fun is there is making sense.

"Now that's just mean...." (Garrus) :P

However my favorite conversation I overhear with Garrus was this one....

Garrus Vakarian: All right my turn. What's the first order an Alliance Commander gives at the start of combat?
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau: Uh, I give up.
Garrus Vakarian: Correct!
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau: All right big guy. What do you call it when a turian gets killed by a horrible spiky monster.
Garrus Vakarian: Friendly fire. Come on that one goes back to Shan-Xi.
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau: Gotta respect the classics.
Garrus Vakarian: How many humans does it to activate a dormant relay?
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau:
602, 600 to vote on it, one to ask the Asari for technical help and
one to ask for a seat on the counsel afterwards. How do you know when a
turian is out of ammo?
Garrus Vakarian: He switches to the stick up his ass as a backup weapon. Why does the Alliance hire pilots with brittle bone disease?
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau: You're ****ting me! The turian military has one about me?
Garrus Vakarian: Oh, absolutely. I heard it myself from a private back on Palaven.
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau: All right why does the Alliance hire pilots with brittle bone disease?
Garrus Vakarian: So their marines can beat someone in hand-to-hand drills.
Jeff 'Joker' Moreau:
Damn, you need to tell James that one. Hey what's the hardest part
about treating a turian who took a rocket to one side of his face?
Garrus Vakarian: Figuring out which side took the hit!

I believe you mixed up an Associate (2 years) & a Bachelors degree (4 years). A Masters is usually 6 years.
