Okay, I want to get back to the Dark Space Invasion Hypothesis that was presented on page 743.  The more I think about it, the more I like it.  Opening the citadel relay and traveling to/destroying the reaper home/base/whatever would be a simple yet elegant way to wrap things up without using any :wizard:.  Moreover, it would present lots of different opportunities for confronting Harbinger or seeing the consequences of your choices.  For example, maybe if you saved the rachni queen she and her forces will volunteer to hold off the reapers while the rest of the fleet blows the relay and escapes before it closes forever.  If you didn't save the relay, maybe Hackett has to stay behind.  Something like that.

I still like the idea of the Crucible being a trap or a distraction, but if it has to have a useful function, opening the relay to dark space is the best idea I've heard yet.

Here's something to ponder:  Assuming that DSIH is true (yes, I realize we don't have any kind of evidence whatsoever to assume this yet), does TIM know what the true purpose of the Crucible is?  And if so, how does this fit into his plans to control the Reapers?  Does he want to travel to their base, use his new reaper-controlling skills to somehow take over the place?

Yeah, keep the same setting, add another Galaxy into the mix. and make it a true intergalactic war plus all of the inter-species squabbles. For now the war has only been in this galaxy and the politics in this galaxy. If a Relay was opened to Andromeda, it could be disasterous and amazing. It'd feel like playing ME1 all over again with the same sense of newness and awe but on a more epic scale. Do you see what I mean?

Honestly for me it all feels like the same idea just adding two galaxys instead of one, just seems like more work for BioWare to do with little actual innovation in the plot.  More isn't always better, a good, well-told story doesn't need to be big and epic with lots and lots of stuff in it.  A good story is executed well within the confines of its setting, characters, plot, and theme.  grandiose things can work well if done properly but going to another Galaxy is just too much imo.

the biggest problem with this is we don't know what's in the Andromeda galaxy, we barely know anything about our own, even in the ME universe.  we have more real-ife context when constructing the initial ME setting because we have actually SEEN some of these things with the Hubble telescope, or whatever new model they use now.  If ME were to go into the Andromeda galaxy, BioWare would have to invent it's interior alot more.  idk how many of the star clusters and systems were based on actual photographs taken by our space telescopes, the Horsehead Nebula definitely is, but if alot of them were based on actual RL phohos then BW would likely have to invent all the new star-clusters for the Andromeda Galaxy, not to mention all the new races, environments, cultures, civilizations, it just seems like WAAAAAAY too much unnecessary work when the galaxy ME is set in has so much else to offer.

If there were to be an ME4, I would rather it start off with a new MC, maybe a system similar to DA:O where you can choose your origin, where you came from, how you were brought up, your current occupation at the start of the game (are you an Alliance marine, a Space pirate, an poineer etc) maybe even your race.  then  the plot might end up being something like you getting wrapped up in this big adventure that pulls you along with it, whether you want it to or not, finding out the importance of it along the way.  that's the kind of game I'd want to play, if it was executed well of course, since the formula isn't anything new lol.

*sigh* man, you are a buzz kill.

well it IS just my opinion, I tried to word by post so it conveyed that.  I hope you don't take it personally.

no, I didn't lol. I was joking. We just don't see eye-to-eye. That's okay.

I still think the crucible is a trojan horse or a wild goose chase created by the Reapers for every cycle to waste their time and resources building.

Oh, I definitely would prefer that too.  I just don't know how we would defeat the Reapers if it is a trap. Being able to use the Crucible to enter dark space is a nice way of defeating the reapers that isn't offensively stupid, like, err, the literal interpretation of the current ending.

I agree. It's the only logical explanation for why the Reapers didnt find it and put a stop to it before it was done. Their indoctrinated spy and espionage network spans the entire galaxy. There is no way they didnt know about it.

That is very convincing.
they would eventually come across it over countless cycles and manipulate it to suit their own needs.

Agreed, and if you do manage to build it they have a perfect false objective to draw you into a killing field with so they can avoid a drawn out and costly, to them, guirilla war. It's the only way I can make sense of the reapers actions throughout the game, particularly with regards to the Citadel and Earth at the end, and how conveniently out of nowhere the crucible plans appear.

Edit: I'm gone after this, BTW.  Like I said, if any of you need anything (Like a Gibbs slap maybe.), just message me.

okay ASSUMING (yes that is an intentional pun) that the starkid isn't Harbinger, EDI could hack Starkid and they could get vital intelligence on the Reapers including places where they build new Reapers, where they hide in Dark Space, new IFF's etc.
But I think the Crucible isn't the relay, the Citadel is. The Citadel connects directly to Dark Space (which is why saren and Sovereign tried to get it working after the Protheans sabotaged it) so they could use the power of the Crucible to build up energy in the Citadel to use it as a Relay, I guess

Still replaying ME2. Gotta love Harbinger's line about pain and fear being illusions. If the end of ME3 is a hallucination, then it's one based largely around pain (personal injuries) and fear (of immeasurable loss).

think of how many indoctrinated hands the plans have gone through like TIM's, the crusible could have easily have been manipulated

On the subject of spamming.

ENOUGH! It's done, over with, and no one should take part further.

I am not going to tell you to be ashamed, enough moral authorities have done that on their own, and if you feel it is suitable, you will on your own.

I am however going to tell everyone that enough has been said. No more.

This is not the crime that some of you are making it out to be. It was however, childish, pointless and rude. You all know you can conduct yourselves better than that.

Make what amends you choose, and the subject is buried.
