Just cured the genophage again and noticed that the Shroud bears an uncanny resemblance to a Prothean Beacon. I'm not saying that means anything, but there seem to be some great minds here and I want to know if anyone had given this a thought.

I made a thread about this but it just got shat on for some reason :/

All threads are shat on in this forum, for the most part, unless they are hate threads. Hating things is what the cool kids do, didnt you know? No need to feel bad about it.

I've never considered that the Shroud might have symbolic meaning, because it's been around for so long. It predates Humanity's discovery of the Mass Relays and the start of the Reaper story arc by a long shot. The Salarians also have no obvious connection to the Protheans. So I cant really come up with any symbolic possibilities. Anyone else want to try tackling this one?

Yeah, I agree. But it hit me pretty hard when I saw it for some reason. A giant beacon even with waves shooting out of it like a signal. I don't think it means anything but it seems so bloody symbolic I can't let it go Xd

Have you guys not noticed the uncanny resemblence in your usernames?

Yep... we had a "moment" when he first showed up in the thread a while back. It was touching. I even used to use that same Harbinger sig banner that he's using.

Shrug. Like I said, necessary evil in a trilogy like this. I suppose they could have made it to where importers did not have to be subjected to such blatant rehashing, but IMO it wasnt really obtuse enough to be bothersome unless you focused on it.

It wasn't just there. It happened multiple times with James. It was like James stood for the new player. Whereever he went, things had to be explained, and that bugged me.

**** it. You know what I realized? I disagree with the method you used to reach this point of veiw, but you're right. Synthesis is the cowoard's way out. It's giving up, accepting that you cannot deny or defy the Reapers, so you instead work for them, living off their benevolence and magnanimity.

But, thats basically what I said, just hitting it at a different angle.... You do see that, dont you? It's the same exact concept.

Hence why I agree with the end, but not the logic you used to reach it.

Synthesis still does involve action, it's not just inaction, you are working for the enemy, you are a traitor of the worst kind, a coward. Control you're misguided and foolish, ground down until you give up yourself, either way you are forced into a mental surrender, it just changes whether or not you chose to fight your way there and be ground down, or gave in to intimidation.

That's my eventual point though. You're just taking it further than I did. That inaction and indifference I was talking about causes you to be easily coerced into believing the Reaper's viewpoints and thusly wind up agreeing with their philosophies entirely, ostensibly proceeding to end up working for them the way Saren did. You're skipping that part and going straight to what happens as a result.

I'll think about this let me get back to you.

What I'm thinking about Control vs. Synthesis vs. Destroy is this.  In Destroy and Control, Shepard is exerting his will over the Reapers, either to destroy them, or force them to leave.  In Synthesis, though, his choice has nothing to do with the Reapers (Well, technically it does, but you'll get what I mean in a minute.).  What happens in Synthesis, is Shepard combines organic and synthetic life, and the Reapers just leave.  He doesn't do ANYTHING to the Reapers in Synthesis, they just leave.  To quote the line, apathy is death.  He doesn't even bother with them anymore.  He has possibly decided that the Reapers don't matter.  He definitely doesn't try to influence their fate in any way.  He just let's them go.

Added to that post:

Dumb reason to force certain sqaudmates on the player. That kind of history lesson can happen at another time, onboard the Normandy perhaps, with a conversation with James. I don't like when they shoehorn you into situations. ME is about choice, and I should've been able to tell whoever I wanted to go back and check on the Normandy.

If new players want to understand the history of the trilogy they can play the f****** trilogy. I shouldn't be punished because new players have to be coddled.

Sorry, that aspect of ME3 has always frustrated me.

Continuing playthrough.

So Eva's full alias is Dr. Eva Core (accent on the e).

Eva core.

Good grief how did I miss that one...

Anyhow, I have to wonder if perhaps a little bit of EVA survived in EDI, or if EVA changed anything about EDI when EDI took control of Eva's body.

I agree. But I didnt feel it was obtuse enough to be insulting. Walking the line perhaps, but not obtuse. Would you have liked the option to have turned it off? Maybe something to suggest to BW for future titles.

So just to sum up the infrasound thing so far:

-There is infrasound in the dream sequences.
-There is a low-frequency (but largely audible) hum during certain London conversations, notably with Coates.

I'm off - back in 18 hours

No, I havent seen Evangelion. I dont watch much Anime.

Funny thing about Evangelion; the last two episodes were the very Trope Namer of 'Gainax Ending' because the devs didn't have enough left of the budget to make it the way they wanted. After that, they made a movie - the End of Evangelion - which was what they had intended to be the original ending all along.

Replace those devs with Bioware, Evangelion with ME3, budget issues with time constraints (I think), and those devs making EoE with Bioware making the Extended Cut, and we have some creepy parallels going on here.

Yep, thats essentially another way of looking at the same concept I was describing. Many different approaches, same concept in the end. Like you said, apathy is death. Arian for some reason just thinks you need to follow a very specific logical process to arrive at that conclusion. <_<

And it shouldn't be 'an option to turn off'. That sort of dialogue should simply ONLY trigger when someone starts a completely new game on ME3, aka a new player. There should have been two sets of dialogue in those situations, just like there are in some LI/non LI interactions. Like if you romance Garrus he says one thing, and if you didn't romance him he says another. Should't be difficult.

So has there been any audio sweep done neer harbinger/london beam yet? Just curious if there's infrasonic sound coming from either or both of them.

Note: Sorry if it was recently answered; I'm on my iPad and it's a pig for searching through these pages.

Uhm, a friend of mine just said that IT has been 'nixed', and pointed me to this article as evidence:

http://www.forbes.co...ing-complaints/

and the fnial line:

BioWare has announced the Summer release of free DLC to expand on elements of the ending – although it is not apparently planning to go for the narrative Hail Mary of the last map having been a hallucination or dream. Without a total disavowal, no amount of free DLC will be enough for some, but most are waiting to see if their complaints and comments will be addressed.

I don't know how the author of the article comes to this conclusion, was there something in the ruling that addressed IT? Have we discussed this yet?

Just people drawing the wrong conclusion about BW's carefully worded press statements and Q&A. I'm surprised someone that writes for Forbes would make that mistake, though.

You know, I was thinking about the Control ending, and I realized why it was so bad at face value.  Never mind the odds of Shepard actually being able to control the Reapers, forget the lack of blue babies, the worst part is that the Citadel GO WITH THE REAPERS when Shep makes them leave.  If there are possibly millions of people still alive on the Citadel, then he pretty much just doomed them all, assuming face value.  So much for Control being "Paragon".

Having freshly read ME:Evolution before playing ME3 I was shocked when Liara first said "Dr. Eva Coré" I was instantly like "What? How? She's dead!" and than it made so much more sense when I found out it was a fembot designed by the illusive man. I find it interesting how he named a fembot after his old teammate, ... makes me wonder what kind of "infiltration" jobs he used it for...

Excellent, the Citadel being a mass indoctrination/harvesting device theory I've been working on just got the weight it needed ... hmm, interesting that the two 'weather devices' the Geth use in ME2 are identical to it
