I tried pointing out that BW have never once said it wouldn't contain gameplay, just that they've never said it would; which there is a big distinction between the two. I also explained that if the EC comes out in July it's already taken twice as long as some of the DLC's for ME2 (including LotSB) and it seems that 4 times the amount of people have been working on the EC, but I feel they're so caught up in hearsay opposed to looking at the facts they've totally missed the point. Having new gameplay is completely feasible, sure it might not actually happen but it's just as likely that it will. I actually think BW wants the majority of their fans to think the EC will just be cinematic.

It just hit me. Coates is the only soldier other than Shepard to brave the hail of Harbinger-fire and survive (possible exception of Anderson).
We never truly see Coates (or Anderson for that matter) take part in the charge. We only see a bunch of redshirt alliance troops faceplanting into Harby's attacks.
I'm still convinced Sarge planned that charge.
Do we know if Shepard is a fan of RvB? It's quite possible that scene influenced his hallucination.
chess!! when shepard plays chess, he says thats what he would do! so thats what he dreams!!!!!!!

I also wish I had some point to bring up but I can't come up with anything that hasn't already been discussed.
im kinda in the same boat as you. been following this thread since nearly its inception, but havn't posted till this week.
What ending did you initially pick? My curiosity got the better of me and i read all about the endings and It theory before i beat the game. I wonder if i would have saw through Starbinger's little ruse.
Edit: random question. anyone here every watch the anime Evangelion? i have a feeling some of you might like it.
I picked destroy during my playthrough, I didn't know exactly what was going on other than that it was strange, and a few months back when the demo was released I played it with my friend and we believed the boy never existed so when starbinger showed up I wasn't accepting of its crap logic. I won't lie though i had to mull it over in the game for a
Nicely done on seeing through the trickery. Most people (including myself) werent so fortunate...

I heard about IT before I finished. I chose Destroy. Also, is it weird that the scenes with the kid in ME3 still manage to make me cry even though I KNOW that he's a hallucination and that that's what the Reapers want? Oh well, I'll just blame it on the music. Leaving Earth brings me to manly tears everytime I hear it.

That's... an interesting idea. I'll see if I can find the link to a video with that dialogue.
Here's the link. It's around the 1:00 mark.

I find it interesting how he named a fembot after his old teammate, ... makes me wonder what kind of "infiltration" jobs he used it for...

Yep. The point of having a twist is to push your audience ever so subtedly away from the direction of said twist. Then, when the moment is right, the suspension is built, and few expect it, spring the twist. I think Bioware is playing the deception game. And playing it pretty damn well. They have much of their fanbase believing the endings are it and the IT isn't true. They won't deny IT or gameplay, but they're leaving subtle hints here and there. As if to keep us interested, yet still unsure.
The point I made about the development time, really sums it up on its own. The entire team is working on this DLC. And right now its at 2 1/2 months in, the amount of time taken to create LOTSB, the longest ME2 DLC. And LOTSB was created by only a portion of the team. The EC is everyone. So, lets do the math. LOTSB only used a portion of the team (we don't know how big, just not the full team), and it took 2 1/2 months to create, and featured around 2 solid hours of gameplay. The EC is being made by the ENTIRE team, and we're already 2 1/2 months into developement and yet we still don't even have an announcment. So you've got, let's say twice the amount of people working on it, and you've already spent the same amount of time creating it as you did with ME2's biggest DLC, and yet its not going to have gameplay? So what, hours and hours of cinematics? No.
Merizan has said some interesting things as well. The last one of these you might be interested in unless you've already seen it.

I'm still contemplating whether or not the IT could actually be what Bioware intended all along but it's small stuff like that that still leaves me with doubt.

Good question. Been asked many a time. I'll leave that to Hellish since he seems to usually provide a pretty good explanation.

If you were only offered Destroy with EMS, we would have a difficult time figuring it out, but fortunately BW gave us a fantastic clue: the fact that you are offered only control if you have low EMS and saved the collector base instead of destroying it at the end of ME2.
This powerfully suggests that for some reason the Catalyst only offers you the choice that fits your natural inclination based on that particular choice. It makes sense, too, because while it doesnt heavily impact ME3 yet, that was a huge decision for Commander Shepard from a moral standpoint.
Do we exploit the technology of our enemies and try to control it? Or do we reject it in favor of our core values as a species?
It is currently believed that in a low EMS situation where you only have one choice and are treated with contempt by the catalyst, it symbolizes one of two possibilities: Either the Reapers no longer care about indoctrinating you, thus they only offer you the choice that matches your natural inclination, or that your willpower and belief is too low to resist indoctrination at all, so you arent offered a choice of any kind.
