I should add that normally one could argue that it's simply the difference between the brain/heart that explains which low EMS choice you are offered, however that doesnt add up for a couple of reasons.

Foremost, as I've pointed out recently, Crucible assets are in no way tangibly related to the choices available to you. It is 100% based on your EMS value, not the individual assets. Secondly, the Catalyst's attitude is very telling in this regard. Why would he care if you only have one option instead of three? Something is disappointing him. In fact, the only thing that prevents him from being disappointed and contemptuous is if your EMS is high enough to have Synthesis available. And that, coupled with how strongly he nudges you towards picking Synthesis, implies that he has something to gain from you picking it.

sexism, pure and simple. Female avatars get no respect.:P

Nah, we respect you females avatars.  Look at Megumi and estebanus.  Anywho, I'm guessing that the other speculations were seemingly more pressing at the time.  It's a bit of a slow period, so this sort of thing is more likely to be acknowledged.  Or something like that, anyway. :P

Yeah, music is powerful stuff.  Have you heard Reignite?  The Mass Effect tribute?  It moves me to tears everytime I watch it, too.  It also reminds me of why we keep holding the line here.

Yeah, I've heard it, it's an amazing song. I dont like the video though. Something about her facial expression while she sings is just bothersome to me.

Eh, it doesn't bother me.  Of course, usually, I'm too busy watching the ME footage to look at her. :)  I tear up through all of it, but that part where it flashes through Shep's various squadmates always gets me.  I was singing, and my voice cracked when I came to that part.  I can't believe that this is the end.  I want to see what happens to my squadmates.  Actually, scratch that, I NEED to see what happened to my FRIENDS.

speaking of reignite, does that cloud mass on Earth around 1:20 resemble the RL photos of 'the face on Mars' or is it just me.

Uh, I don't really see anything, but it's after midnight here, so my eyes are probably pretty tired.

Does IT have a solid explanation as to why you're locked out of Control/Synthesis with low EMS?

I'm still contemplating whether or not the IT could actually be what Bioware intended all along but it's small stuff like that that still leaves me with doubt.

If you were only offered Destroy with EMS, we would have a difficult time figuring it out, but fortunately BW gave us a fantastic clue: the fact that you are offered only control if you have low EMS and saved the collector base instead of destroying it at the end of ME2.

This powerfully suggests that for some reason the Catalyst only offers you the choice that fits your natural inclination based on that particular choice. It makes sense, too, because while it doesnt heavily impact ME3 yet, that was a huge decision for Commander Shepard from a moral standpoint.

Do we exploit the technology of our enemies and try to control it? Or do we reject it in favor of our core values as a species?

It is currently believed that in a low EMS situation where you only have one choice and are treated with contempt by the catalyst, it symbolizes one of two possibilities: Either the Reapers no longer care about indoctrinating you, thus they only offer you the choice that matches your natural inclination, or that your willpower and belief is too low to resist indoctrination at all, so you arent offered a choice of any kind.

I..don't know.

I still can't wrap my head around this low EMS one choice thing.

I see. If I did notice your post, that might have been why I missed your point. Difference in the way the sexes think, perhaps? When bountyhunter said that line about "doing what he dreams" in regards to his strategy in chess, it clicked for me instantly that he would employ and play out that same strategy in a dream.

An endless stream of pawns being mowed down by a tactically superior opponent.

It's the large white cloud mass center screen in the video of Earth. But remember, I've watched this video dozens of times (love it) and I only noticed it a couple of weeks ago. So it is possible I'm just loosing it a little.:happy:

Yeah, I got that. I actually posited; "Why chess? in ME3. There has to be a link somewhere." And now we have that link!

That came out in a Liara voice... I play this game too much.

On the Coates theory:

I don't remember him being douchey. He was a bit pessimistic but I just assumed that was because of how strong of a force the Reapers are.

"We have dismissed that claim."

Seriously, though. It can't really be identified, and there is no concrete or concrete like substances on the Citadel.

Inconclusive, but many of us think it's more likely to be shelving from London than anything we see on the Citadel.

I agree, and I felt the same way on my first non-spoiler playthrough. Like many, I thought he was "off" in a "who is this guy and who does he think he is?" kind of way, but didnt take it beyond that. However if you consider what he says in his theory about how absolutely nobody calls him out on his overtly negative attitude, which is very atypical, it starts to look like a theme.

That is moderately compelling on its own, but when you add the infrasound discovery to it, it's looking pretty darn convincing.

Indeed, hence my use of the quotation marks.  I was just being silly!

In all seriousness, though, TIM's bizarre and contradictory behavior at the end should be a major red flag to people that something strange is going on.

@HellishFiend: I'm revisiting my EMS/Willpower comparison from months back to update, finess it and flesh it out some more, especially now that I've had more time to reflect on it (and it's get brought up so damn often :P). Is there anything you personally feel I might have missed?

EDIT: Also, anyone else who hasn't read it or has and would like to debate it or add to it please feel free to let me know your thoughts. You can find it here

Yep, barely a few hours ago he looked human and was "done helping you."

Now he looks like a husk and "needs you to believe"?
