Ah, well as long as it isnt you going crazy from laptop deprivation like I feared it was.

Nah. I don't live on it that much. Most of why I care is really that it's my most valued posession, it contains my life's work, stories, essays, everything I have ever written that wasn't on a bar napkin.

In a way, it's an extension of me, my tastes, an extension of my personality, hence why all of my computers are named for facets of my personality. This desktop is Arian Dynas, the laptop was John Nobody, the next could be Nathaniel Karasin, Matthias Tantras, Dynas Armelin, Eirak Ice-Veins, Darius Dragonheart, Gareth Kenthur, Aedan Cousland or Tristan Lyonelson.

Yeah, I'm a weird fella.

Wait, Commander Shepard isn't somewhere on that list?  Blasphemy!

Sounds like they're getting close to the release of... something.  I'm guessing the EC, but it could be the upcoming MP pack.  Or maybe both.  The SDCC is coming up, and it wouldn't surprise me if they're gearing up to reveal something there.

Probly both. The reddit guy with the leaks is already proven to be legit, and he leaked both the upcoming MP Earth DLC and the EC descriptions at the same time, so I'm guessing they will be released concurrently.

We are the gibberlings three, as merry a band as you ever did see!

We've come to devour Athkatla and find it most palatable though you've nary a sausage to feed us.

Arian, whats up with you? Normally you're a lot more serious. You've been acting off the past few days.

Baldur's Gate reference RIGHT over your head. :?

Ah! Theres the Arian I missed!

Anyways, I never played Baldur's Gate, so yeah

How old are you anyways? For some reason I thought you were younger than me, though I dont actually know where I got that idea from.

Doesn't matter how young either of you are, I'm still probably younger.

My body is 19. My mind is stuck in the 80's and 90's, only more like totally cool dude. B)

This may have been brought up before, but I’ve always found that quote in the ‘final hours of mass effect 3’ very fishy. I originally read the app when it first came out which was long before I joined the ITD ranks and even back then I found the quote was deliberately misleading.

Firstly there’s this: “...The gameplay team was still experimenting with an endgame sequence where players would suddenly loose control of Shepard’s movements and fall under full Reaper control...”

So the first thing we can garner from this is that it was intended by BioWare to have Shepard indoctrinated at the end of the game, so the argument that BioWare aren’t clever enough to come up with ITD is false. Anyway, If they did intend to have Shep indoctrinated than there must have been some point in Shepard’s history that lead to his indoctrination, especially if it was full-blown enough so he’d be under complete control. This sentence also alludes to the fact that there are multiple stages of indoctrination by utilizing the adjective “full”.

“...(This sequence was ultimately dropped because the gameplay mechanic proved to troublesome to implement alongside dialogue choices.)...”

Anyone who just glances over this sentence might be lead to believe that it says “The Indoctrination of Shepard was dropped because it was too troublesome to implement” but it doesn’t say anything of the kind. All that sentence says is that the mechanic of having the game suddenly take away control from the player was dropped but not the indoctrination concept. It also says that it was hard to implement along with the dialogue choices, but it never says that the related dialogue choices were ever removed and hence we are still presented them in the game during the end sequence. It also makes more sense not to take away control from the player to make the indoctrination process much more subtle by almost turning it into an alternate-reality game, which is the way it should be... Anyway, my point is that the sentence never once mentions that Shepard being indoctrinated was dropped, just that one physical gameplay component was.

For me this quote was actually what lead me to the ITD forums as it made me suddenly realize that they had intended Shepard to be indoctrinated all along and that they just implemented it into game in other ways other than a physical gameplay mechanics.

As I have said multiple times. If I was DMing a game with something like Indoctrination, I wouldn't waste time with a mechanic, I would go straight for the player.

Bioware is no different.

I turned 25 on the 12th and I feel ancient. Still being in college and living with my parents, I also feel rather unimportant. However, the latter seems to be a massively growing trend given the economy.

Guys, quick thought on foreshadowing that I had whilst looking through the sound files from the beginning - the cinematography from the whole "walk to trial" scene seems weird, but it seems to be absolutely loaded with foreshadowing of the ending.

Which got me thinking, could it give us hints on what will be in the EC?

What happens in this one? The beam hits, shepard gets knocked out or almost and you hear the reaper noises from the dreams (the ones complete with proper infrasound), then Anderson snaps you out of it, just like he does when you're talking to the child later...

You hear the sound of groaning metal as he does so, very similar to the sound in the "breath" scene at the end, then Anderson gets you on your feet and hands you a Predator pistol.

I think it's worth a look generally, there's other stuff but it's getting late here and I'm off.

Nice connections! It seems Anderson may be emphasized as a symbol of Shepard's resistance to Indoctrination even more than we thought.

Well, I just can't get rid of my head-theory, that all of ME3's SP we all replayed multiple times until now is just Shepard either remembering or retelling it to someone (nothing to do with Stargazer). Maybe that's the story he's telling to the judge during the trial.
Because, who says (if existent) the ending DLC that plugs right on our saves won't start the way ME3 started: throw you right into the story like a short story: Whoop, there are we as Shepard, telling (or dreaming) about what we just did to make us end up wehere we ended up. Or a trial because we as an indoctrinated Shepard did something we shouldn't have done, which is what DJBare suggested a few days ago: that we were on the Normandy all along but only thought we were in London.

Ummm SDCC is next month. A month is a looong time. I will be sooo disappointed if they don't give ANY info on the EC before then. Currently I'm dying to get EC, cause I'm losing interest fast and then they can start on different SP DLC. Shep's story is not over YET!!!!

It's like when your grandpa told you a great story and then before the ending came he just stopped/gave you a cliffhanger. You want him to finish the story but the build up makes it better. However he waits too long and the build up/interest starts to go down.... COME ON BIOWARE!!!!!

But..... Anderson was born in London. =]

Not sure if I'd like the "storytelling" thing. Seems like it would just be thrown in there for no particular reason, and it would only work in certain endings. One of the problems with the Stargazer scene now is that its the same regardless of the ending you get, despite the fact that they are vastly different.

Yeah, you shouldn't feel bad about that.  I just (finally) got my bachelor's degree in biology last year, and I'll be starting a master's program in the fall.  I will mostly likely be the oldest person in my group, but I've sort of gotten used to that.  Everybody takes a different track, yours doesn't make you unimportant.  I for one know that mine has been pretty winding and bizarre.  :)

Make that 24 and it's me.
And it seems everyone feels old. Do we all feel that way because we really do, or is that a defense based response equivalent to "but I already have my own TV" to not feel so young in front of the older 'kids'?

Anyway, am I the onlyone who forgets his age because it becomes less and less important? Or is that again a way too appear 'cooler'?

Or should we get back on-topic?

Then again, I liked Jar Jar Binks too, so maybe I'm just a masochist
