TSA, Salient raised the question earlier as to whether or not we're sure that the infrasonic tones are actually really just tones, or if they might be a pitch shifted message that we could reveal if we reversed the pitch shift. Thoughts?

What?! Posted Image A message? Like words and stuff? Or just noise? Posted Image

I think it's just a solid tone, so just noise. But its technically possible that it could be something else, like words or a recognizable sound, that has been pitch shifted down into the infrasonic range. Like the indoctrination equivalent of autotune....

Maybe applying some magical filter would rebuild the original message. What if the message is there but the waveform is scaled down so it appears as if nonexistent. You know, like viewing details from far away (you can't see them).

It isnt easy to hide things from a frequency analyzer, or in a waveform. If there is something there, it should be mostly visible just by looking at it. And pitch shifting isnt magical at all. Just ask any pop or r&b singer these days. <_< Though I guess you could consider the ability to hide one's lack of a pleasant, trained singing voice to be magic.

In any case, if its anything but an ordinary solid tone, it would just be a matter of isolating the infrasonic range and then pitch shifting it back up enough octaves so we could hear what it is.

The infrasonic sounds aren't solid tones, they sweep up and down, at least in the dream sequences - I tried pitch shifting up two octaves. I'll try it with all of them and upload a zip :)

LOL. By magical I meant fancy, unusual, not supernatural. Posted Image As for the difficulty of hiding anything from the frequency analyzer, did you mean that the spikes and valley would have to be preserved for the message to not lose information during filtering?

Yep, pretty much. Completely smoothing out the peaks and valleys would essentially remove whatever actual sound is there, or compress it so much that it would be nearly unrecognizable.

Looking for a little creative help with my video, guys:

When thinking about the Indoctrination Theory, what are the most significant things that pop into your head? What stands out the most? As in events, cutscenes, dialog, etc. Something you see in the game that just speaks "Indoctrination!" to you personally.

What I found out from looking at the list of soundfiles in Gibbed:

- The hearing in the beginning is the trial, it's also called '...trial'. And per definition, it's a hearing to exchange information. Stupid me, thought about a court, when I first read that there was going to be a trial at the start of ME3.
Well, per definition there was. I just failed to understand the word correctly. And mistook it for a court about Shep's deeds in the Arrival DLC.
I'm writing this because from some threads that were created in the last months I take it that some folks wanted a Trial DLC. But per files and definition we got a trial. So was their any specification on what kind of trial we were to get in the prologue?

- The flashbacks are titled 'flashback_anderson', 'flashback_joker', 'flashback_rom'. So the third one is supposed to be the romance. But we only saw Liara and VS. It can't be a sign of a rushed development, because they always denied it...but then again...who knows.

So those are my findings.

Google Doc about why the endings as the stand make no sense

Thank you for this, the dissapointment level after just finishing ME3 was crushing. How anyone thought it was a suitable finale is mind boggling, and that the basic logic of it has been broken down like this is excellent.

Perhaps trial could be referring to the initial assault on Shepard's psyche? As in an emotional, mental trial rather than the typical physical or legal trial.

Aren't sinus-y continuous sweeps (for you as an aeronautics engineer, like Fourier transforms over a finite interval) are a sign of spectral leakage? At least that is how I understand them. Feel free to correct me.

One word: Transcendence (as in transcends human's every-day perception of the world).

EDIT: Maybe because I'm listening to this atm.

Mostly every strange occurance during the Anderson/TIM/Shepard dialoge: The headaches, the fish lense effect, the odd surreal effects in the beginning when we approach the console chamber: sound dies down, whispers start.
But mainly, because this was he first thing that raised my brow about that scene: Anderson's totally stainless cloths.

This is the fifth "whisper" file after you've filtered all the audible stuff out as much as possible:

I'm building a triple crossfire system - they're not GeForce cards, they're these:

Sadly, it mostly gets used for boring stuff like bitcoin mining and CFD, which will humble that CPU almost immediately

They aren't Geforces, they are the AMD cards, I think their newest. Not 100% sure since I don't do AMD for gfx just cpu. I'm in the process of going SLI 680 or 690 once I get the approval of the boss, lol.
