I've got a question here that doesn't have anything to do with indoctrination.

An everest class dreadnought can fire up to 5 slugs a minute, right? Each one of them has the yield of three times the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, right?

The codex states that takes that 4 dreadnoughts can destroy a sovereign-class reaper, right?

4*5=20 slugs fired each minute.

Each slug has the triple power of a single nuke.

20*3= 60.

So, in order to destroy one reaper, one would have to fire off 60 nukes, right?

Does anyone know what the estimated quantity of todays nukes are?

Guess the Reapers got high evolved Cyberwarefare weapons, so it will be hard to aim, but basicly yes I guess.

I'm just wondering how many reapers we could theoretically destroy with today's technology...

Non ^^ they shoot down rockets quit effective I guess =)

So, off-topic, how do you create a hyperlink to a youtube video and have it start in the middle or so of the video when someone clicks the link?

Right click + copy video at current time, then paste it somewhere

Have you seen my video?

The Sounds of Possession

I'm watching it, and all I can say is sweet Jesus have mercy!  It's awesome.  Also, what's your face code?  You've done good work with the face creator.

Thank you. :D I spent about 10 minutes putting that face together way back on my very first ME1 playthrough. That is my non-spoiler, no-do-over canon Shep. He's made his way through the trilogy without help, hints, or second chances, and now he is proudly the face of one of the best IT finds so far. :D

I made him to look like me, as much as possible.

If you want the face code, I'll see about typing it up and getting it to you later.

HOLY CRAP. Okay I just listened to the indoctrination codex entry again for the first time in awhile. It flat out says "infrasonic noise." Wow. Um. Okay, I realized that sound discovery was a cool find, but...I now realize its overwhelming significance. Wow. Um. So...I guess that's "welcome to several days ago" for me, yeah?

Okay, I'm caught up now. I'm clearly a genius...lmfao xD

This may be a silly question, but have you watched ACAVYOS's IT video on youtube? It plays nearly the entire codex entry at the start of the video... Thats the main reason why I assume people are already familiar with it.

Yes, I think I've seen all the ME3 videos made in the first month. There are probably many I haven't seen since then. Yeah, I usually ignored that part of the codex and focus mainly on the parts that seemed relevent to our experience in the game, i.e. hallucinations, ringing or w.e and all that x]

Across the planet? Somewhere in the tens of thousands, I believe. Most are just warheads, though. They have to be equipped with a delivery system to be used.

Remember though that comparing the destructive force of a nuke to that of a slug can cause easy misconceptions. A nuke does its damage with force and pressure. In a way, it could sort of be seen like Infrasonic noise on an exponential scale. A slug does its damage through the force of impact. They are topics worth spending some time reading up on wikipedia if you're curious! It's good stuff.

So let's say that hypothetically, we have 50.000 nukes in the world...

50.000/60=833,33

So with today's technology, assuming we're able to fire them off in time and even hit our tarets, regardless of own casualties, we could roughly destroy 833 reapers...

However, the problem with this is that I'm only counting on that a reaper could be destroyed by 4 dreadnoughts within 1 minute, which is probably not likely...

I guess I'll have to do some more research on this.

I'll tell if I found out something interesting, if that's alright!:)

im just interested about something after just playing cronos station again. Why didnt the illusive man take the prothean VI with him rather than let shepard just have it, more to my point TIM wanted shepard to hear what the VI had to say. Now i know kai leng tries to kill shepard but earlier TIM said he wasn't writing shepard off as a loss yet so why send leng to kill him, unless he wanted shepard to win and hear what vendetta says

If you start looking at the game itself as an Unreliable Narrator
and do some research into what slow Indoctrination by a Reaper does to a
person, then you will begin to understand. Like I said, you're almost
there. You just need to be a little open-minded and consider some of the
observations we've made and how they fit the lore.

So who's the unreliable Narrator for ME3?

Bioware, of course. They're the writers.
of course they could also be doing Lying Creator or some combination of both.

Well if IT is true then Bioware is certainly the second one since they tell you Shepard ended the reaper threat and the story is over.

more unreliable because they never tell you when or how Shepard ended the reaper threat.

Maybe, but then we'd have to question all of Mass Effect and not just ME3.

Can you imagine you run across the beam, you gonna end the Reaper thread, once and for all. You are sad, so many terrible things happend you might have saved the Quarians and Geth died just because you love Tali and the she dies infront of you, together with Garrus your best friend?
Do I need to say anymore?

Huh, this does show that the Star-Brat has infrasound in his dialogue.  And perhaps more importantly, it shows that large amounts infrasound must be intentional, since Shepard has almost none in his dialogue.

Love you video dude. At first i thought you were grasping at straws, but then when you pulled up the in-game sound files in an audio editor it totaly clicked. As someone who's going into sound production, i've learned that its standard procedure to erase all frequencies that the human ear cannot hear to reduce file size and make editing programs run faster. There's literally no point in keeping those frequencies in the files, unless they were left there on purpose or Bioware fired there sound crew and replaced them with high school drop outs.

In no way can IT be considered an ending.

BioWare will expanding on the ending

Again this is implying the ending is already there.

http://sticktwiddler...shley-williams/

"The sessions I’ve had so far have been really simple, and Bioware’s not changing the ending, but it’s explaining and justifying it more.”

Again
fairly obvious here, says there not changing the ending which IT would
certainly be.. Justify the ending also goes against IT. Also note it's
implied the ending is already there.

Even
if you believe IT is correct 100 percent it's not readily apparent , so
denial cannot be applied to anti-IT without streching the definition of
denial.

Quick, grab a shotgun, and hold up in some very small space with no airvents!  That way, they can't flank you!

Well, I should have been more clear. What I was getting at is that the two weapons employ a different means of causing damage to a target. We know for sure that a nuke detonated inside a Reaper can destroy it, but we dont know if raw force and pressure from a nuke will damage a Reaper from the exterior. It could be a logical conclusion since they seem so intent on making sure all the nukes are destroyed, but we are never told if theyve been used against the Reapers in conventional form (or how manage damage they did, if we have). Since ME is science fiction, studying real life science behind slugs vs nukes may not determine if nukes would be any more or less effective against fictional kinetic barriers. Do share though, if you think of something. :)

That's not my point at all this is the problem. It got lost a few pages ago.

The original conversation was about what factors about your squadmates would lead them to be indoctrinated. Tali being an admiral was one but I disagreed since, even though she's an admiral in one possible playthrough, it doesn't mean she'll be an automatic target since she isn't a very influencial figure.

The Quarians still go to war for Rannoch, they still don't listen to her when she orders the fleets to break off and it still took Shepard to actually make peace by doing the server mission with Legion and convincing the Quarians to stop firing.

I'm still of the opinion that the whole "Crucible + Catalyst = Defeat of the Reapers" thing is very doubtful, but we'll see.

I agree :)

As I said before, I still think the Crucible is a Reaper device "used "in case a Cycle has become too dangerous. "Dangerous" doesn't necessarily mean that the Cycle would be able to defeat the Reapers. But it means that this Cycle might be able to inflict some serious losses on them.

EDI said that "self preservation" is one of the Reaper's key motives - if not THE key motive. So I believe taking heavy losses is something they would try to avoid at all costs. And we can be sure, that the united galaxy of "our" cycle would be able to do so in the final battle about to take place. Remember in a normal cycle there would not be a final battle, since the Reapers would take control over the Citadel AND the Mass Relays immediately. It would simply not be possible for the organics to gather all their fleets.

As for the "Catalyst" itsellf I'm still not 100% sure what it could be (but I doubt it is the Citadel or the Starchild ;))...I have a few thoughts on it though. But they aren't well thought through yet to be honest...it is more of a quick brainstorming:

As far as I can tell from the word, a "Catalyst" normally enables, speed-ups or directs a reaction. So if the Crucible is some sort of Reaper trap, maybe sending out some sort of Indoctrination signal, the Catalyst might be something that enhances this very signal. As Indoctrination ultimately breaks someones will, a huge Indoctrination Device might need someone strong-willed as a "Catalyst".

Maybe THAT is the reason why the Reapers try to indoctrinate Shepard. If this "remarkably strong-willed" person would "fuel" the Crucible, the signal might be strong enough to indoctrinate all organics in a certain area. Avoiding the losses of a final battle.

Have you tested for ultrasonic noise as well? Cause in the codex it says that they use infrasonic and ultrasonic noise for indoctrination.
