By the way, if this next video even turns out to be 80% as awesome as I'm picturing in my head, I think you guys are really gonna like it. I'm really hoping I can at least finish this next one before the EC comes out....

Next one needs more voiceover!

Not sure why, but I prefer videos with a narrator...

Oh, and I'll volenteer if you don't want to.  Apperently I have a good voice :P

Hmm, I will definitely give that some thought, but either way, dont say anything further about that in this thread, cuz I'm keeping the topicality of this next vid a secret until it's released. *high five to Bioware*

I'll PM you about it after I think on it a bit! :D

I'm starting to think you know more than we know about EC... Are you a BioWare insider?!?!? It's like you know when the EC is gonna come out...

Sounds interesting.  Would also be nice if I could contribute in a meaningful way, considering my lack of ability in graphical design or video editing.

Edit:  And yeah, you're right about Sounds of Possesion needing to focus more on the in-game sounds and music.  The fact it was relatively short helped too, longer videos need a bit of narrative to help drive it onwards.  Its why I struggled to watch 'There is only ONE choice' in one sitting - 42 minutes and no narrative bar voice clips from the game!

It's VERY persuasive though. Even without I.T. it proves Destroy is the only option!

I loved every boss fight from ME1 .-.

Only 'boss fight' was Saren, really.  Unless I'm forgetting something...

The rest were just waves of enemies led by a slightly tougher mob (the Thorian, Benzia) or were so easy I'm not even sure they can count as a boss (Fist).

Oh, and that Krogan Battlemaster leading a squad of Geth just after you mean Liara.  I hated that part so much.

That being said, we did have plenty of Thresher Maws.  Those things were nasty if you didn't move properly in the Mako.

I saw Benezia as a boss fight. My first playthrough was on Veteran and it took me like 20 tries to beat her the first time. Noveria was my first stop, so yeah, I was a bit fresh, but it was a fun challenge. I consider the Thorian one, as well. Again, just sort of fighting mobs and doing a bit of damage to the boss every once in a while.

But yeah, I mostly think back to "Assuming Direct Control" Saren. That fight was so intense and the music was epic. I loved it. And they even mixed some cutscenes with Sovereign fighting the fleets into it, so it felt like you were actually part of the battle. Then, you defeating Sarenvereign (not to be confused with Saren-Varren, a Turian pornstar who is rather popular with the Krogan) actually affected the battle outside.

Idk, I thought it was cool. I want to fight Harbinger. And TIM. And Coats. And Indoctrinated Brute Vega.

Oh, its a brilliant video indeed.  Just sooooooooooooo hard to watch in one go.  Usually I like to leave videos running while I do something else, but when its all text and diagrams and pictures...  I have to focus purely on that.

I think I may have a very short attention spa...  Ooh a squirrel!

Oh some of those fights were hard indeed, like the aforementioned Krogan Battlemaster/Geth squad.  Made me rage so hard in two of my playthroughs (not helped by the fact you have an unskippable cutscene and video before each new attempt).

They just didn't feel like a 'boss'.  I think I play WoW too much.

Oh and by the way, the Sounds of Possession video needed to be voice-less to increase the dramatic effect. Voiceover/narration would have stymied the drama due to blurring the focus of the viewer away from the bass end of the spectrum during the exposition. That doesnt necessarily mean that would be the case for future videos, though, so I'll give it some thought.

I'd be glad to chip in as well, if you ever need voicework. I have a $100 mic set that hasn't seen nearly as much use as I wanted.

Yeah, same with Benezia. I had to have dialgoue with her over and over again. Then watch my Shepard get stasis'd awkwardly and all that fun stuff.

Haha, maybe. *sarcasm activated* I really like it when they build up an entire game to what you expect will be the father of all dragon fights to find it functions nothing like any other dragon fight and all you do are fight little things and do small amounts of damage to the main target every now and then...wait a second, I feel like I just said this exact same thing a few minutes ago...Posted Image

Yes, but the point is that his video is aimed at an audience that most likely already believes Destroy is the only option...
Andromidius is a perfect example of that. If he didnt already agree, he wouldnt have watched/finished it.

Everything from the title of the video, to the pace and length, all the elements of it are appealing only to people already interested or in agreement with the subject. I wouldnt go so far as to say it's pointless, because it was a great and very well put together video. But a good director always keeps the target audience in mind when making it all come together, and I fear he may have missed the mark on that one. It's like trying to get someone to watch a documentary on Tigers just because they like housecats. They wouldnt watch it. But, would they watch an action movie about Tigers that maybe opens up with just the right amount of exposition? Heck yeah, it might even turn them on to liking tigers! Jurassic Park anyone?

So I dont think that his video was able to sway anyone, because most people Anti-IT or on the fence wouldnt watch more than a few minutes. It merely reaffirmed our belief that we're backing the right horse.  Many people will hit the back button as soon as they see a length that exceeds 6 minutes. Each minute above that and you lose more and more viewers that arent already into the subject of the video.

In my video, everything from the length (a tad over 5 minutes), to the pace, to the "narrative flow" of my video is carefully crafted to grab and maintain interest throughout, while losing as few viewers as possible to disinterest.

Ok, I rambled about that a bit more than I planned, but hey, there's a science to this stuff. And I dig it. :)

Oh goodness, its like you have a spycamera in my room.  Was working on Heroic Spine of Deathwing this evening, and each time we'd not quite have the dps required...

/wrists

Would have been fun to have a 'boss fight' for ME3 where you're directing the battle but not actually taking part.  Sort of like an RTS, calling in certain units at certain times to counter what the Reaper forces are doing.  But yeah...

Oh wait, yeah, this is an IT thread.

I'm approaching the end of my ME2 playthrough.  Is there anything in particular I should look out for while I play ME3, maybe something I can record and put up on youtube for review?

Sounds good. I'll definitely let you know if I run into any snags. I'm using Pinnacle Studio, which a mid-range editing suite. Good combination of ease-of-use and power, but it lacks some of the more advanced features of the popular Sony and Adobe versions.

If I run into any issues, I'll let you know and maybe send some footage your way to be worked on.

Thanks!

I'm working on a playthrough myself atm. I'm making a list of what points in the game you hear the weird sounds that are present on the Normandy. Unless someone has done this and I missed it.

Smack on.  Though I also watched it looking for things I disagreed with or that I felt were wrong, though nothing stood out and it did pretty much just reaffirm what I already thought and brought up a few things I'd not even considered.

I still feel lucky that I picked Destroy quite by accident, despite intending to do so anyway.  Bioware really did disorient me very well - I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn't really know how.

A friend of mine met Jennifer Hale at Supernova yesterday, so of course I made him ask about IT. Apparently it came up at the Q&A anyway and her answer was the same as she said in this podcast:

http://techjives.net...oice-over-tips/

She doesn't know if IT is true or not, but has tremendous respect for the Bioware writers.

I am listening to the podcast now- it was posted on April 20, so may have been before the recording sessions.

I really hope at some point in the future Bioware eventually releases a documentary or making-of video that details the manner in which they seemed to universally fluster, bewilder, and confuse the vast majority of their audience into not knowing what the heck to do after regaining control of Shepard in the decision chamber. There is an overly consistent response from people that makes it seem like there is something going on beneath the surface that exploits some area of psychology that none of us are likely to understand.

Okay, was going over the video with the questions about the ending with the lead writers this came up and found that maybe you guys might want to talk about how it affects the IT. I have no idea myself.
