Was the Ending a Hallucination? - Indoctrination Theory Mark II!

I'm not really one to jump whole hog for IT if it can't actually answer how the events resolve themselves. So shepard is in his head. I can handle that. But what's happening around him? The Reapers are basically massacre'ing the remaining military force of all life while he's laying on the ground in london losing his mind. It's capable of explaining why things are so confusingly off, but it's incapable of explaining what is actually happening.
While the reapers slaughtering all life is a grisly ending, it contradicts the "hope against the odds" theme that Shepard usually embodies. BW are great at storycrafting and I doubt that they'd just be willing to slap us all in the face that hard. My guess is it's got to be a middle ground of half in his head, half what really happens.

It does except for delivering the crucial component, if it was all just a dream then what really happened? I don't think BW would be so callous as to just toss /that/ kind of cliffhanger at people at the last 15 minutes of the last game of Shepards story. There's likely something we just didn't pick up or are misinterpreting.

That is why we have EC. Under the IT EC is for getting Shepard back up and finishing teh fight, or bringing humanity to ruin if you ****ed up.

Well, I think that's where ITers and non-ITers tend to diverge. Most of us believe BW would absolutely "slap us all in the face that hard". For BW, their "artistic integrity" is likely all about conveying the process and emotion of indoctrination directly to the player, which they have apparently done a very good job of doing. Indoctrination is pretty upsetting, after all.

Well that's just stupid, how can we know if they won't say? o.O
It's also rather arrogant to presume to know what would make me happy. Clearly their intended ending missed that mark, so they are already 0 for 1.

That's a fine point if they were intending to leave the series there. I doubt many would want to reinvest in the franchise if it ended like that though. Rule #1 of any good business, Don't ****** off your customers. if you make a bad product, no ones going to buy it.
There is a line between a good story told badly, and bad story told well. Right now we're teetering on the line of both.

multiplayer DLC? could be but not really noteworthy, operation savage? no, gamble would have been direct with the statement, could it be? EC fits the description of promising good news, time window within parameters, but still too many variables, people would get excited (inhaaaaale) perhaps...too excited.

Well, to be honest, I don't remember Mike Gamble tweeting trickery tweets.

The only reward worthy of us (of you, actually) is IT being true

Anyway, assuming IT is true, what really happened to the Illusive Man? I'm personally hoping for some redemption; I've always liked him, despite his shadyness.
