The only perfect way to handle it would be to split the canon both ways.  Just like the Zelda canon diverges based on what happened in Ocarina of Time, there are two timelines and both are canon.  Or is it three timelines now?

It should be both. just hit both triggers at the same time for the first time in the series. I would cheer.

Okay, now that we finally have a release date, I have to say I’m a bit nervous about what’s coming. I so desperately want the EC to be good, IT or not. The fact it’s nearly 2GB in size is promising, since that’s bigger than any ME2 DLC I believe, but still there is this niggling feeling inside me that this is just going to make the whole ending situation worse...

Is that not the the feeling of all of us? because they could very easily make it worse.

Don't lose faith now...It's bigger than LotSB, and that was epic (even more so if you are Liara fan, like me).  I think that Bioware knows how much is riding on this - I can't see them screwing it up.  Will IT be true?  I don't know...I do know that I won't care as long as the EC is good...and again, I can't see it being anything less than that (and maybe even more).

Yeah, that would just be embarasing.  Also disappointing, but very embarasing.

OK here is my EC wishlist:

1) Shepard doesn't have to die in every ending, and if she dies she doesn't die alone.
2) Harbinger actually plays a meaningful role.
3) The ending does not contradict the major themes of the series and isn't embarassingly nonsensical.
4) Shep gets to reunite with her friends in at least one ending

That's what I can think of at the moment. For me, #3 is the most important, and it's the one I am least confident about getting.

IF there are people who don't like IT and if EC proves IT is right then don't download it. Just don't if you don't like IT or just don't want to change the ending as it is.

They should be institutionalized. Because clearly they've lost their minds if they suddenly cannot write good endings. And we know they can; just look at ME2.

We have confirmation from Jessica Merizan. Reuniting with your crew is possible.

Well, based on what Jessica said, I think you'll at least get 1 and 4 as long as you chose Destroy.  As for 2 and 3, here's hoping.  I still want a boss fight with Harbinger where I get to use the sync laser to direct every single ship in Sword to fire on his position.  That would be the most epic thing in the entire series.
