I would love to see Tevinter, especially with the mage/templar war going on, I think that could be very interesting.

I would like to discover more about the Avvar and also about the time and people from Calenhad's reign.

Also... what lies further to the South? Are the Chasind telling the truth about an icy wasteland? Cuz that sounds like there could be some fun monsters there.

More areas to explore. I'd like to see more of Thedas such as Val Royeuax, the Anderfels, Minthranos and even perhaps Par Vollen and Rivian.

Further char customisation, I want my Dalish Arcane Warrior from DAO back.

Plenty of side quests. I can knock over the main quest in about a day, but the side quests and full companions quests keep me going to many days.

Ability to customise armour of the companions. Every time I had an upgrade my companions got the left overs.

Less giant spiders.

Less recycled textures. Dungeons get boring once they all look the same.

None of the "waves" in combat. Where on Thedas do these extra mobs come from? I have seen them literally appear from nowhere in front of my eyes.

I know this might be pushing things a bout, but I'd like the option to take sides with either the mages or Templars (more so than in DA2) and have different multiple endings (unlike ME3 with a single ending really just different colours) or even take the "neutral" side of the Seekers.

In a nutshell the epic scale and story telling of DAO, with the graphics and game mechanics (especially combat mechanics) of DA2.

first of all, I admire your company for being so close to its fans/customers.It really shows that you care about the product you're putting out.
Like it's been said, Tevinter, Orlais and the qunari homeland would be nice to visit. Also, some backstory on the seekers (I know the anime has something to do with seekers but an explanation in-game would be more suitable).

as far as past plot-lines to be resolved: obviously, the story of morrigan and the child must be concluded. and who is flemeth ? and are orlais and ferelden really at peace ?

1) I want Bioware to take their time. No rushing, and NO recycled maps. The latter destroyed Dragon Age 2 for me.
2) I really want to see a structured story which knows where its ending lay. I'm all for options and choices, but lately Bioware seems to have taken the "there's no great options" route. I felt like no matter who I allied with there was just no "right" choice at all, and I had to choose between the lesser of two evils.
3) Bring back the Grey Wardens, or at least integrate them more into the story. The Wardens had a very unique story that I felt had more to tell, but kind of fell by the wayside. I like the fact the Wardens WERE in DA2, but it felt like they were forced into being corrupt/evil, which kind of went against how they were portrayed in the first.

I am a huge fan of Dragon Age Origins, and I was hoping Dragon Age 2 would be great as well, but that just didn't turn out to be the case. Though, playing through Dragon Age 2 really reminded me of all the things I liked about DA:O. I won't get into that in this thread, but what I'd like to see in the next game would be:

1. The Warden return. I don't care what you have to do, but I really want my Warden to come back and start putting things back in order. Even if you have to retconn some things, I would love to see this happen.

2. What happened to Morrigan and the baby? I figured this would have been answered in DA2, but seems like both games didn't have much to do with each other.

3. I'd like for more of the world to explore and lots of quests to get lost in. Less corridors and more open ended design.

4. Please don't make every character gay. I don't have anything against gay people, and a few of my real life friends are gay, but just seems crazy and unrealistic to have every character turn out to be bisexual. There should be characters you can pursue and others you can't. I liked that about Mass Effect.

5. Bring back Grey Wardens as a group. They're just such a powerful group that when they jump into the scene you feel like things are about to get real. That's something I noticed in Dragon Age 2. If there were Grey Wardens in the scene I would get all giddy.

6. Really, I don't care which area of the map you decide to focus on as long as we get a chance to explore it.

I think that's about it. Most of what I wanted to say has been said already. The biggest thing is to bring back our Grey Warden. You guys are a creative bunch, I'm sure you can do it right.

I am very curious to visit the other countries like Trevinter, Andefels, Antiva, etc... in Dragon Age 3 or perhaps future DA games. I like the idea of interacting in the society perhaps involving intrigue in High Court, an Orlaisan Ball seems like a good setting for that. Getting involved as a freedom fighter with the fog warriors or slaves in Trevinter.

But in general I would be happy to learn anything new about Dragon Age world (the more the better!)

Oh, lord. There are so many things to list!

Geographically: I'm the most interested in Tevinter, though Rivain wins for "place we don't know much about and yet I find myself inexplicably curious." Also Antiva and Seheron. Par Vollen/the qunari and Orlais do not interest me as much, though I seem to be in the minority there. I've heard DA3 may cover a larger geographical range, which would be cool; on the other hand, I really did like the way Kirkwall got built up over time in DA2. (How's that for contradictory?)

Plot-wise: Flemeth is pretty obviously Chekhov's Gun on the Dragon Age mantel. I'm looking forward to seeing that get fired off. Ditto Morrigan's demon baby, presuming that can somehow be worked in regardless of whether you did her ritual or not; ditto the Architect and the sentient darkspawn. Sandal. The primeval thaig and red lyrium. I just read the Silent Grove comic, and am also curious about the dragon-related things in there.

I'm not . . . *un*interested in the Grey Wardens and the Anderfels, etc, but on the other hand I love the fact that Thedas is a setting with multiple major conflicts, of which Grey Wardens Vs. The Darkspawn is only one. We got a good dose of that in DA:O and DA:O:A, and DA2 was plenty (more than I needed, really) of Mages Vs. Chantry. (Skewed too well toward the Chantry, I feel; having played through the game on both sides, I found myself wanting a t-shirt that says "Fenris Was Right.")

And, since I don't know what future questions you're going to ask, I'll just toss in here: I very much like the skill tree setup from DA2, *adore* the friendship/rivalry system in place of approval/disapproval (it made my second playthrough radically different, which was *awesome*), and think it's nifty to see my companions have distinctive gear, but miss being able to suit them up with loot I acquire -- maybe let me give them helms/gloves/boots, but keep the body slot individually tailored? I'd rather have blood magic be disallowed as a player option than to go on being able to fling it around in front of templars without them noticing.

Dear: Dragon Age Team

I would just like to start by saying "Hi" from Lethbridge, just a few hours south of you guys up in Edmonton.

Now in hopes that someone even reads this I will share my opinion.

One of the many things that really made Dragon Age: Origins stand out in my mind was the incredible detail to the storyline. I kept on being fed background tid-bits of information on everything in the world. It really made it come to life (Stumbling upon Codexes/random NPC dialog for instance). Also the ability to stop anywhere and talk to your companions was awesome and made DAO different from ME. Having lots of conversation options was nice in DAO, but I felt the conversation wheel was too much like Mass Effect's in DAII (increase conversation options). I loved Hawke having a voice but you could've kept the previous dialog layout. Also please no loyalty missions in the next game, seemed like your writers were getting a little lazy :). I enjoy wooing compaions instead of  earning affection through quests...

From what we've heard your already planning on making the world a lot larger, with more variety in the scenery. This was something that help Dragon Age feel like a massive awesome world that you were going to save from the blight. When it comes to character design I really didn't like the way you took to it in DAII, I like characters with real meat on their bones. Every single character in the game felt fake (I know right...), in DAO they felt and looked real.
World design was beautiful in Dragon Age: Origins, it was new and unique. I felt the change in Dragon Age II was unneeded, and wounded the game overall.

When it comes to gameplay and UI DAII was a completely different game than DAO. I felt the GUI was way too much like Mass Effect's, Dragon Age is its own game and universe, please don't be afraid to do things differently in it (The Menus' in DAO were excellent and felt very much like a fantasy game menu should). Combat was another change though I felt I was constantly button mashing, I enjoy feeling the power when I press one button a single time and my character moves in for the hit (Yes, sometimes a bit slowly, but still). The feeling of success after taking down a mob in DAO was unrivaled. One more thing: In many instances I felt that there was a lot of overkill in the amount of enemies spawning in DAII, it didn't feel realistic, especially when the bodies disapeared after 5 seconds. I'm not a psychopath but I get a sense of achievement when I look upon the strewen corpses of fallen enemies.

And of course when it comes to customization you guys really dropped the ball (no offence). My Warrior Hawke stayed with his same armour and weapon throughout the whole game. Please add more variety. Companion characters included.

To sum it all up: Keep Dragon Age an original property, you don't need to copy Mass Effect to create a good game. Stick with what worked in Dragon Age: Origins that made it the game we all know and love.

Thank you Bioware for taking the time to read my feedback on both Dragon Age games, I hope this will help you in the design process for the next one; which I am extremely looking forward to.

Sincerely,

MaladorTheGreat

Edit: I now realized this topic was Discovery and Learning for Dragon Age, not feedback. Either way I hope you guys read what I wrote above.

Some things I would like to learn more about in future DA products is the Orlisian Empire or what it used to be, it must have been pretty powerful to have taken over Ferelden. Also I would like to find out more about Flemeth and what her role is in the greater Dragon Age story (she seems like some sort of Gandalf type gaurdian). Of course I cannot forget about the Tevinter Imperium, it sounded like such a cool society-maybe allow us to travel to a ruin or add a few codexes for us to read.

I have a feeling we will learn more about the Chantry hierarchy and the politics that goes on between the different members. Maybe even flesh out the history of the Grey Wardens a bit, I wouldn't mind learning more about them and their ancient order. Possible cameo of the Warden Commander :) I could also just settle for some codexes about their history.

All in all I just want you guys to expand the DA world, add unique zones, cool new factions/societies, and of course some awesome dungeons/ruins for us to explore (that are all different and not the same model). Don't forget NPC's who could tell stories of the world through conversation. I love those.

Thanks for reading my Edit about what I want to Discover and Learn about in DA, I hope it helps you guys during the development process.

Cheers.

I personally would like to learn more about the Grey Wardens and if possible have Dragon Age 3 be about the Grey Wardens again. Where do they originally come from and how long has this conflict been happening? What about Duncan does he have any family or descendants, his legacy should live on, he is probably my favorite character.

So yea more Grey Wardens and more like Dragon Age: Origins. I loved the dwarf commoner storyline, rising from the ashes of poverty to become the hero of the world!

Although I do want to know more about Flemeth, I love the idea of her being forever mysterious and I think the Dragon Age setting would lose something significant if she was fully revealed and done away with for good. The knowledge that she is always out there in the shadows, scheming about things beyond our understanding I think it is a vital part of Dragon Age.

Also, I want to know more about Corypheus. Did he indeed posses Larius/Janeka? What doe he intend to do now?

Hi Everyone

Please check out the new BioWare Blog. This entry kicks off a new monthly series of questions from the Dragon Age development team that seeks input from you as to where you want to see the Dragon Age franchise should go. These questions and your answers will help the team better create games, novels, comics, etc within the Dragon Age franchise.

The question lasts 1 week. You will have the week to post your thoughts, desires, and hopes before we close the thread for review. Moderators and developers will pop into the thread to chat every now and again, so keep an eye out and come back often.

BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka has mentioned that we’d like to open up more in future Dragon Age titles, so now we turn to you: What kinds of things would you like to learn more about? Antivan weddings? Orlesian balls? The remnants of the Tevinter empire? Burial customs among the Chaisind?

What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

We look forward to hearing from you. :)

Ticking it off on my fingers...

Flemeth. What's up with Morrigan implanting the soul of an Old God into her fetus. The remnants of Tevinter, definitely. The conflict between the Black and White Divines. The Golden/Black City and the Maker. Qunari society in more detail. Exactly how/why the elves lost their immortality.

I'm not much of a lore buff myself (I have trouble retaining specifics like dates and places unless they're hammered in via a lesson plan in a school), but something i always enjoy when games share the universe history is when it gets really personal.

People are what make history, and I really enjoy reading character's personal accounts, reports, conversations, diaries, folk tales, or legends, all of which build upon each other to build the world. Not only are you building the world, you're also populating it.

That's not to say there's no place for a text book objective format, but even then you can get rather personal. Taking the first mass Effect game for example, the planetary reports that detailed things like the "Leviathan of Dis" or the fate of the one Batarian pirate as he tried to escape the Alliance were infinitely more memorable, by design I reckon, than the vanilla reports of temperature and core make-up and such.

I'm interested in whatever is relevant to the world and plot, but I'm even more interested in the people who lived/live it. :)

Probably the biggest personal letdown for me from DA2 was the teasing of goings on with Flemeth and Morrigan. I know it might be tricky to address, especially if your Warden from Origins was involved with her, but I feel like her story was so played up (what with getting her own DLC and whatnot) and there being a lot references to the child, that its absence was a big let down. I can understand if the team thought it might overshadow Hawke's story, but there were so many other elements that were carried over and done well, that it seems like that element was ignored.

In my own ideal DA3 world, the child is the protagonist. I know that might be difficult, considering that at the end of the DA2 story, the child could only be somewhere close to 10 years old, but depending on how long the time between 2 and 3 is, perhaps it could be done, but I understand that wouldn't be likely. At the very least, I think we need to see Morrigan again, and the child as well, considering it seemed like it would be so important in the future.

Learning more about the other major locations/nations would be a major plus, but it's better when the player is actually physically there.
I did hear a lot about all the different places mentioned in DA2, yet I was never quite able to "care" since I wasn't anywhere near those locations. Hearing about the ruling individuals of some far away land that I've never seen didn't really linger long on my mind if at all.

Any and every little tidbit about the location you're at is great, but better off if I can hear it as I walk by and some people are talking about how the city/nation's gone downhill since the old days when who and who was in charge and comparing them to today's leaders and such. And then finding out more about those people/places from the record halls or library or a book under someone's bed.

I like hearing current events being discussed in some way or form by the game, I always love going around finding trigger points for the game to spill its secrets whether it's serious or just some simple laughs. As much as I want to know more about the blights/old ones/maker, I think too much about it might remove the mystery of it, so I think I'll go more along The Fade, and what the world was like before the Veil, the supposed world where the dragons ruled...

I suggest taking a good look at the Witcher 2. It'd be much appreciated if DA3's graphics can be on par with that game.
Also, please improve the facial expression.

I would like to discover more of the series lore akin to Andraste's Ashes from Origins. Seriously just discovering something that was apart of the games lore in that fashion was just awesome. Also some more monsters from the add-on to be featured in the game like the wyvern or the armored orge. Plus I was to discover a new game plus mode. Please add one!

It would be too much to read through this entire thread, so if any of this is repetitive I apologize, but I suppose it would only emphasize it.

- Morrigan. Biggest part of DA:O. What happened? Where did she go? etc., etc. She needs to be back.

- Sense of accomplishment. No matter what you did, the ending happened, rather unspectacularly. Make a more exciting ending, i.e. ending a blight again.

- A way to interact with squadmembers without romancing them. See: Anders. I didn't want to be gay, but I also like to play as Paragon/good, so there was no way I found to do that without being his boyfriend. More ME like here would be great.

- Exploration. Seeing the same environment over and over was probably the worst part of it. Varied environments and locations, each being different would be great.

- Sense of world impact (Like DA:O). All your actions in DA2 felt very localized, not the king-making world saving decisions of the original. Please fix this.

It's probably been said a thousand times already, but I want to see more of what is left of the Tevinter Empire - or even some sort of controllable flashbacks in the Tevinter Empire would be interesting. I want to explore more of the Fade - the Black City yes but also everything else that's going on in there!

I want to see more of both the dwarves and the elves - someone mentioned seeing untoushed elven cities, which would be awesome, but I also want to know why the dwarves are detached from the Fade - did something happen to them that distanced themselves from it? Is there a way of reversing it? Could we see a mysterious dwarven mage who is reconnecting his people to the Fade, by force if necessary?

I want to see more of the sapient darkspawn we saw in Awakening - could they change perhaps and become a people seperate from the dragons and who don't want to ravage all the earth in a Blight?

And what is beyond the Kokari wilds? Where were all the other Grey Wardens during Origins, and where are they based? What would happen to them if the darkspawn ceased to be a threat, or if they somehow reformed? Could there be a corrupt warden who perhaps has set his/her sights on more than just protecting the world? And some more Orlais would be awesome, it'd be great to see this supposedly more cultured people in their own realm.

Just my thoughts :)

My suggestion (and no, I am not trolling) is to make it less like Dragon age 2, and more like Dragon Age Origins.

Yes I realize that the question is 'What would you like to learn more about', but seriously... Less EA, more Bioware, please.
