Step number 1: Put your designers back in the mindset when they made DA:O. That game is fantastic, and will remain one of the best games of all time. DA:2 was a hack-and-slash mess.
Once you get that, this is what I would love to see:
The continuation and linking of the Warden and Hawke. As much as I dislike DA:2, Hawke was a fun character, and I would like to see these two characters meet, or atleast know what happened.
Story, story, story. I want to know what happened and is happening with the characters.
What is Flemeth up to these days?
How is Morrigan and my child doing? Is my Warden still with them beyond the mirror?
Is Alistair embracing his kingship?
What is Shale doing? Is she still around? Is she in Orzammar?
Has Sten gone back home? Is he even alive?
etc.
Give us closure of the character we grew to love.
Diversity in classes, especially specializations. Mass Effect gave classes an identity. Dragon Age has just been Mage, Rogue, or Warrior. When you branch off, you are still just a Mage, Rogue, or Warrior. The only specialization who was really different was Arcane Warrior, as it shifted how you played. Barbarians and Reavers played the same, Assassins and Bards played the same, Shapeshifters and Blood Mages played the same. Specializations should be given a skill that defines their class more, like Charge and Cloak does in ME.
Do not pidgeon hole us into 1 race. There is a constant topic of races in DA, but in 2, we were forced to be a human. DA:O gave us so many different glasses to view the world through, as the characters in the world acted differently around them all. Dwarves were relatively unknown, but looked down upon. Elves were **** on. Mages were feared and hunted. It gave SUCH a good level of depth, to the point I wanted to play through with as many different combinations as possible. Hell, give us Qunari too. They would be amazing to play through as, especially mages.
Please bring back my hope in this franchise.

First, thanks to everyone involved in the development of the Dragon Age franchise for opening the floor to suggestions. I do understand that there is no guarantee that "everything" will be incorporated (them's the breaks after all), but it is nice to have an open forum - hopefully to minimize ANY negative blowback once the third game finally makes the scene. I didn't have a negative opinion of DA2, and considered it just another part of a bigger picture in regards to Dragon Age. I get in moods where I'm all DA:O and hang out there for a while, then the wind shifts, and for the next little bit I spend some time in (and around) Kirkwall.
Bottom line, is that I'm open for whatever comes down the pike, which also means that it irks me to see DA3 pushed further out as Bioware feels the need to shore up The Old Republic (a game that I have zero interest in).
As for personal suggestions, I would like to see you guys continue the practice of incorporating second or third string characters into subsequent games, as this allows for a nice bit of continuity to help tie everything together. I would also love to see more of the wider world of Thedas and am taking you folks at your word that this is a given for the next game. I would hope to see Grey Wardens continue to be involved in whatever story takes place, their concept and realization has been so well crafted; plus with the new cool Warden armors introduced in DA2, how could you NOT give us more of the wardens?
Flemeth definitely needs to return in a MAJOR way, and although I was very disappointed to learn that "Exalted March" had gotten canned, I hope to see aspects of that conflict specifically resolved at least in some way in-game. Design concepts that didn't make it into DA2 (female dwarves & Kossith) really need to show up, and a return to play options as elves, dwarves, etc. would be appreciated. Do multiplayer if you must, but please limit how that experience translates into the overall single player game. Role-playing, it's what's for breakfast!

please make da3 A LOT MORE like dao, not like da2 (meaning design, game mechanics and of course story).
you see, dao looks exactly like martin's 'song of ice and fire' (meaning political scheming, royalty vs commons, great mystery, apocallyptic and british (hehe) feeling to everything (blight = winter, tainted = walkers etc.) ).
please tell us more about the black city, old gods and the veil, about human sins and abominations, about treachery and coming apocalypse...
morrigan, flemeth, alistair, sten, leliana...yes even hawk and isabella...should all be present to make a conclusion to the story of whatever you in the end come up with (no, not like me3).
speaking of da2...really, anders blows up a church and in the end and we fight a japanese-style boss (with that huge sword!!!) O_o come on...
lots of people talked about inventory and all that stuff...take your time really.

There's so much I'd love to know more about.
-What's going on with the Wardens now that the blight is over (maybe a trip to Weishaupt?)
-What's the big deal with the Hero of Kirkwall, from the stuff mentioned at the end of DA2?
-What's the real story behind the Golden City/Black City, and what's it like there? Can we be involved in cleansing it?
-What's the deal with Morrigan's god-baby?
-Was the Fade and the Veil really created by the Maker, or is there something deeper behind that separation?
-Why don't dwarves dream? Why can they only seem to enter the Fade when in a group with one of the PCs?
-Where do the Qunari come from? What were the kossith like before the Qun?
-What really created the darkspawn?
-Why are the dragons suddenly reawakening? Is there some significance to that?
So many good story possibilities.

I would like to find out more about Leliana, Morrigan, Old God baby (assuming that the player chose that), Hawke and any remaining family, also what the heck Flemmeth is up to and of course ENCHANTMENT! I believe Sandal and Bodahn were heading to Orlais last we heard so definitely Orlais as well.

I absolutely LOVED Dragon Age:Origins. I think it was as close to a perfect RPG game as there ever has been. The characters were well-rounded with flaws and heroic traits, they had fun background quests, interactions advanced the story, romances were believable and rich. It was a roleplayer's dream. I think this is what DA2 lost sight of when it tried to incorporate more of an FPS style to it. Unfortunately, roleplayers want deep story lines and FPSers want to shoot- a compromise is extremely hard to find and usually both tend to suffer. I think DA3 needs to decide if it wants to be an RPG such as NWN2 (which I am replaying right now) or not.
I personally have always wanted to know more about Andraste and her life from her point of view. Her storyline always fascinated me in how she changed the world. I think she could be a rich source- play as Andraste!
We need to know more about Flemeth, as others have stated. As well as Morrigan and her child. Anything about the NPCs in DA:O. The cameos in DA2 were great.
Orlais would be a perfect setting, or Qunar. We need to know how women fare as Qunari!
The Black City. So interesting. Tell us more. Have adventures there.
The voice acting in DA:O was superb, as was the storyline. Do this again! The music score was beautiful (and this is something that was done perfectly in ME3). The ending needs to be credible, make sense, follow canon, be fulfilling even if not necessarily a "good" ending with options for multiple endings.
DA:O is the kind of quality of game that sets the bar for others that follow. As others have stated, take your time, don't rush DA3 out. Polish it and you will keep the players coming back for download content for years to come.

And how do you the idea to make a choice before the start of the character of Mr. Hawke in the sense of gray between the guard from the first part, or create a new, each should have its own prehistory and the other characters in addition to which you have chosen meeting in the game even if not as a partner, should meet all the characters from the previous file parts and accessories. In the new part of the game should be a lot of open world freedom of choice and freedom choice, it would be nice to make a multiplayer mode with the possibility of a joint passage history one more to the story he wishes to be completed so that the fans are not left matters as happened with Dragon Age 2!
P.S If that excuse for ignorance!)

With all the crap that Dragon Age 2 has been given, I will say that even though levels were reused, I enjoyed the game. I liked the fact that my character was voiced and I love the banter between party members. I would find myself just standing there and listening to them. But what I would really like to see is different areas. Let us go from maybe Orlais to Trevinter. I want to see the areas that have just been talked about and never gone to. I want to see the Imperium and learn more about the Qunari. Have the dialog options that the player chooses, have effect on the world as it goes through the game. Let there be different endings based on what we as the players have chosen to say and do. I love when I am able to get into the story and actually feel like I am the character. And please let us choose what type of character we want to be, maybe even a Qunari???

The Qunari are by far the most interesting group in Thedas in my opinion. I would love to explore the philosophical conflict between the Qun and apparently every other group in the area.

Well I like dragon age 2 but prefer dragon age origins because you have the opportiunity of other costumes the characters in your group and there are more differents scenar. I like the sistem of friendship and rivaly of dragon age 2 and the history and characters are pretty good but the weapons limitations for classes ,the tree of skill and do not costumisaze the characters in your group

hello all
I want to start from negative
I don't like when my character is taken away from me and all the rest including that one I was romancing. I don't like when story-line goes like a tight dress - preventing me do another step to the side. Come on, ppl, we all seen and played I am pretty sure The Elderscrolls series - how after that u can make something like Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 3 or SW: The Old Republic? ( just a bad examples
) I am afraid to think what Dragon Age 3 might become then...
Positive now
Please give players more freedom, more variety in the story, more rich dialogue options, more choices. I would like to have my original character back as well as original bunch of adventurers. All those personalities became friends and would be great to know their fates.
Please, don't make it tragic - would u? please? Let it be challenging but heroic, positive? We have enough crap around us in real life to have broken hearts also from playing the game... At some points when I was helplessly crying from not being able to change anything I wanted to throw my computer together with the game outta window not play it more and more again like it was with DA:Origins.
About places, really any new
May be a way to find out a cure from grey wardens taint to change their sad fates? Of course very interesting to know about Old God child. Let's continue Origins story

well here's my list from most important to least important.
1.Please bioware don't use the combat system from dragon age 2 as it was boring and just a hack and slash which is bad for an rpg.
2.Please don't make all the love interests bisexual as that's lazy and we need more diverse relationships. have any equal number of heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual LIs.
3.Please have Dwarves and Kossiths LI both male and female.
4.Please have where at some point every companion is can die like in Awakening.
5. more weapon diversity.

Would love to know more about the Qun. I understand the need for it to be mysterious so far, but Tallis made some great revelations in MotA that really got me hooked. The Arishok was one of the coolest characters in DA2.
Honestly, I kept hoping in DA2 there would be a point where Hawke could convert to the Qun. I know this is more about what we want to "know", but I am hoping that we have at least the opportunity to dive more into what being Qunari really is.
Other things I want to know more about:
Old Gods - My theory is that they were Dragons possessed by very powerful spirits/demons. But what are they?
Flemeth - What is she? A demon? An Old God (my guess)? Of course, you can't have Flemeth without Morrigan, so I'd like to learn more about their duel for power.
The God Child - Morrigan's baby (if that path is taken) in DAO. Certainly something that we want to hear more about.
And, of course, please continue to inform us about the Templar Wars.

I loved the relationships that developed in DAO. They were there in DA2, but .. they felt stilted. Less deep. Best example I have - When you romanced Alistair, you had to work at it, talk to him, flirt, learn about his past, argue with him over choices he didn't approve of that you made and he changed from this cool silly dorky stranger to a young man that was coming into his own, becoming an adult and making the hard decisions in a war to save a country he loved.
I became attached to Alistair.. just as I did with Sten, Morrigan, Oghren and the rest of the party. For DA2.. not so much, well, besides Varric and Aveline, oddly enough. The two un-romancables.
I loved the freedom of DAO, that you do the quests in any order (dwarves/elves/mages. mages/elves/dwarves.. etc etc..) and it was the same story, but with so many different options because of the character BG choices. It's replayable and enjoyable everytime.. not so streamlined and the same story, no other options. DA2 felt so narrow, so limited.. and the story was great, but the third time I played through and had to see Sister Patrice I was sick of her. Sick of the templars. Sick of the Mages.
I never got tired of Loghain's treachery. Of Balin and Harrowmont's battle for supremacy. Of Branka's CRAZY.
I liked how the battle system worked in DA2. It was easier, for me at least. Made more sense, was refined.
So, I suppose what I want is more story, deeper relationship sub plot arcs (more conversation-romance-seduction whatever) and I'll be happy as a clam.

1) A Darkspawn companion! Like you did in Mass Effect 2 with legion.
2) This time the whole world. Whole Thedas.
3) To continue the story from the warden but with Hawke as a companion.
4) A better story than DA2. We want to know what is going to happen with the mages and the templars and where did Hawke or the warden disapeared like Casandra said to Leliana in the second game.
Damn it i want answers right in the third game!

It should answer questions
For me,in no particular order
,A) The truth behind Flemyth, her Strange connection between the two heroes and her daughter.
in any case Flemyth remains a strong compelling character.
An actual interaction between the two heros.I dont particularly care how you do it, Perhaps loaded from previous saves? ( oh no not saves again! ;D....I realize DA 1&2 are different animals. Still....
C) What of the child?
D) This is a chance to expand this world of places and races, for example i like what you've done with the elves,
its refreshing to see them as a seperate race and not just fashion models with sharp ears.more of this.
E) I would like to ride a dragon,No?, Perhaps a re-emergence of Griffons and thier pivitol role in the war ?

Great. At least in DA2 the auto-dialog was determined by your previous choices. It kept the conversations flowing without the character saying something he/she normally wouldn't say. I liked the dialog icons in DA2 but if you chose to include icons in next games, I'd love the bribe icon to display how much money you're going to lose.Mike Laidlaw wrote...
Fredvdp wrote...
I also noticed that Mass Effect 3 toned down the RPG features by increasing the amount of auto-dialog and limiting the conversation wheel to only two options.
Our writing style will be similar to DAII, though not exactly alike; more on that when we have something to show. So, no, not a ton of autodialog.
I guess this thread is more about story and characters than gameplay so I'll say a couple of things about that as well:
I like Varric. He can't die in DA2 so it would make sense for him to return. His voice actor, Brian Bloom, was also in SWTOR and ME3 so I think BioWare wouldn't have too many problems bringing him back.
I felt a big problem in DA2 was that some choices in Origins were trivialized in DA2. Killed Leliana? No worries, she got better. I want to feel the consequences of my choices.
And now for something completely different: Please don't make us use Origin if we only want to enjoy the single player component. I gave it a chance with Mass Effect 3 but it adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay experience. I will likely not buy future single player games that require the Origin application.

I'd like to see Dragon Age break out a little more from the 'standard' fantasy mold and explore something truly different. Most of the cultures have real world analogues, like Orlais and France or the Quinari and the Islamic gunpowder empires. The standard fantasy fare is there as well (elves, dwarves, and dragons). That isn't a bad thing, but introducing something that lies beyond Tolkien would be good.
I'd like to see a little more contention within the ranks of the Chantry. For a continent spanning religious organization, it seems remarkably free of internal schisms and conflict.
More NPCs than slots available to have them all in your camp. One of the things about Baldur's Gate that was neat was the fact that you only had so many spots available. In order to brings someone in you often had to let someone go.
Permanent death of NPCs. NPCs should be able to die, permanently. Knowing that no matter how poorly you perform your teammates will get right back up at the end of a battle, provided the main character survives, stilts the experience IMO. NPCs should be able to die meaningless deaths, and NPC story lines/quests should be lost permanently if you can't keep your teammate alive.
Combat mechanics that mean something. DA2 was far too JRPG in the way it handled combat mechanics/rolls.
Combat mechanics that offer grappling, reach weapons, and the ability to parry/riposte.
You've been offering strongholds since BG2. Allow players to customize them more and give them a choice of locations. The warriors get a keep, wizards a cool lab sphere, and thieves their own guildhall concept in BG2 was cool. I'd like to see a return to that.
Romances are far too easy to complete, and NPCs are too easy to placate. Some NPCs should be just plain incompatible with certain types of PCs. This would not only give the game a much more personalized experience, but would increase replay value.
Varied body types. Not every woman should be built like a swimsuit model, and not every man should look like a pro bodybuilder. Everyone being the same height it annoying as well.
Rogues are overpowered, warriors are underpowered.
Allow some manner of multiclassing.
And PLEASE, for the love of the Maker, allow some sort of couch or LAN co-op play.
Love the games, but that's just my 2 cents.

I want to see a First Person and a Third Person game.
I want to see Blood, I mean LOTS of blood.
I want to see incredible finishing movies. This is really important.
I want to play with dialogues at the game. Like kotor, I want to manipulate my friends and enemies, and even get my friends to fight each other, and destroy each other. I really want to see a game that has a lot of inteligent options in dialogue, different from everthing I had already seen.
Multiple finals, depending if you are a "good or a bad" person.
Like in Fable 1, if my character does bad things, his body is going to change, with horns, blood in his hands, etc, but if he does good things, an angelic aura is going to be in him, i mean, his body is going to change to.
The armors should not be too "colorful". I want medieval armors.
It would be interesting, if you guys pick up some historical events and put it in the game, like the Crusades, etc, etc.
Marriage options. I want to get laid. XD
The option to have a son, and when he gets old, he can help you out in your adventures.
Womens SHOULD have big boobs. But not like those GIGANTIC anime boobs.
The option to be a thief, and steal everything from everyone. Oh, pickpocket too XD
The fights should be fast and never in turns. I prefer the Reckoning example, because it's more dynamic. The problem is the first person view, and because of that, I think you guys should follow the skyrim example... It's up to you to decide XD
Oh, If possible, make some summon magics.
The spells should be simple: fire, earth, ice, like the classics rpgs XD
The evolution should be fire 2, just like that.
Really focus on the history. A game with terrible gameplay, but great history always win. Take a look at the first Assassin's Creed example!!! Crap gameplay, great story!
Forget about DA 2. Do not continue the game from there. If possible, I really wish to see a new arc from the same universe of the series.
One more important thing: NO MULTIPLAYER, FOR GOD'S SAKE, NO MULTIPLAYER!!! This is going to destroy the singleplayer!!! It always does!! Don't do this! If you guys want a multiplayer, do a co-op singleplayer, or else, focus on the singleplayer, and then create a decent multiplayer. I love multiplayer games, but for me, the singleplayer is essential to a good game.
I think that's it! Thanks and good luck!
I still believe in you Bioware \\o/
XD

DA2 had great story but the lack of choice got to me.
DA1 was perfect only the combat let it down.
But both games had great characters.

I'd like to see more about the Primeval Thaig and its place in dwarven history. Also, more information about Flemeth, the Old Gods of Tevinter, Tevinter's current society, Morrigan and her child, and the weird bit about the meteorite from DA: Origins. Of course, getting more information on Orlais and the intricacies of the Qunari society would always be welcome.
