I'm really interested in learning about the Tevinter Emperium and some more about how it all intertwines with Andraste and the Elves. But the magic side of Dragon Age has always intrigued me and I love finding Codex entries with information about Thedas's history. Another thing I think would be cool is to find out more about the Chantry. Why did it start? Are templars really necessary? Does each Chantry operate individually or is there one person who oversees all of them? (I apologize if this last bit about the Chantry is information covered in DA2 -- I never finished it.)
Another topic in which I am interested is the Dwarves. I want to know more about their Thaigs and the red lyrium and how creatures of the Fade somehow always find their way into Dwarven cities.
Thank you for allowing us to post our thought and opinions here. The notion is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: And where/why does my Warden disappear? I would have liked her to live happily ever after with Alistair Image IPB History of the "Black City" and the REAL story of what happened -- not the Chantry version -- with darkspawn would be awesome.

1.) More about the history/mysteries of the Black City, magic, & the darkspawn:
a.) Was the city really corrupted by magisters/mages or was it already black as Corypheus stated?
b.) What is going on with the architect and the speaking. intelligent darkspawn?
c.) Are Archdemons dragons or do they merely incorporate dragons?
d.) Are the elven legends & Gods real/true and are they tied in to the mysteries of the darkspawn and corruption  of the Black City?
e.) Are the eluvians capable of portraying the Black City? What was it the Dalish saw in DA:O?

2.) Who or what is Flemeth?

3.) Any nation you choose to take us to on our characters' journey will be fine by me. I hope eventually we will               see/explore them all!!

Just because I feel compelled to add my 2 cents: <_<

I hope you don't stick with the cartoon-like direction MoTA started down.  If we go to Orlais don't railroad us into more Leiliana, please? Or over the top cartoonish animations and VA's?

Stick to your codex entries! Don't change them and then hand-wave it away. That's just kinda rude to your customers.  "When in doubt, leave it out!"  ;)

I do hope you give us all new awesome characters and LI's. Please don't bring back anyone due to fan service!!

You do wonderful characterisations and for every person that loved one character there are at least one person who hated that character.
All bringing characters back seems to get you is more whining than a brand new character would bring and ticked off fans of the characters you didn't bring back!
Or ticked off fans because you changed that character.
I think it's a no-win situation for you devs.

Thanks for seeing if there are things many people want to learn more about in the DA-verse.

Edited for formatting

I think you guys know what RPG fans want, the question is if you want to please that audience or not. If you do and put your heart and souls into the game it will pay off. But if you try to make a game by pleasing everybody and taking shortcuts DA2 will turn into DA3.

1.Make combat deep again. Remove spiders/ninjas drooping form the sky, fix the FPS/RPG identity crisis. Don't make it look like some anime, cartoony wow game.

2. Make game choices matter.

3. Don't recycle! Fill nooks and crannies with interesting things to see and do to make the world believable.

4. Get more editors to edit properly. In spite of how much I hated DA2 there were pockets of good writing littered through out, unfortunately they were lost in the zero structure and poor simplistic writing/editing of the game itself. Look at Planescape Torment/Baldur's gate/Arcanum/Fallout for cohesive writing examples. Don't make the world so black and white. Reality is not that way.

5. The way the dialoged wheel was done in DA2 is a slap in the face to "role playing". Maybe go back to the old trite and true dialoged choice option that DAO and all other older RPG's used to use to role play a situation. I am not 5 years old anymore and do not need to be told which of the three options "evil" "good" "romance " is what. Don't try to be like Mass effect.

6. As much as possible, take your time, don't rush this game.

7. Know your audience!

8. Know your audience!!

9. Know your audience!!!

10. Re-play Baldur's gate 2 for inspiration and have BG be the role model/spiritual successor for DA3 instead of just saying it and not having it come even close(like in DAO). I used to love bioware games, DA2 has really changed this. I now instead replay old games and/or new games from companies that understand what their fans want(CD Project RED). Learn from CD Project Red on how to please your fans again and they will buy your product.

Some people want to bring back the Warden but i think it's better to have a new hero, The Wardens story is over but having them appear as NPC will be ok.

But remember Bioware the warden could die and not do the dark ritual so don't screw us over with our choices like you did in Dragon Age II, i was so disappointed to see Leliana alive in DA II when i killed her in Origins when she turned against me and i looted her corpse.

In Mass Effect you could kill Wrex and he wouldn't show up in ME2 because he was dead and another character filled his role.

Also people who say bring back the Warden are limiting th e game as the dead wardens would have to have their DA: O options changed to doing the dark ritual and you can't choose the race also for people who started from DA II only had 3 options and the wardens were human male noble, female elf dalish and dwarf male noble. They have no choice but to be those.

I'd prefer a new character and a new start, who are they and why are they dragged into this mess?

I hope you do let us play as what race we want and not be fiorced to be human, DA II felt like a fantasy version of Mass Effect, i'd like to see Qunari as playable race too, Origins was great for that and seeing how people treated me because of my race, i remember humans calling me rude names and i could react to them, I don't want to albe human and have elves going "you shemlen all too our land and treat us like crap".

Also bring back the dwarf female NPC's and i hope to see female Qunari too and would be awesome if the main character can be a qunari especially a mage, they'd have to be brought up outside the Qun of course.

Hope to see older characters play their parts but not saying they should be companions.
Your DA II characters except Varric weren't that interesting and romances were so disappointing, that needs improving on the new ones.

Some people also need to remember the mage and templar war and what role Morrigan and Flemeth play in it.
What are the Qunari planning?

I loved Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II was good but not great, you let everyone down with that.

I have faith that you will do much better with Dragon Age III, i hope you read my post and not ignore it.

Thanks for this thread Bioware!

Exploring Orlais and Tevinter would be interesting, but the most important things are technical.

But:

* Take your time.
* Do not release a product before it is done, done, and checked by a small army of people outside of
Bioware bubble.
* Do not reuse levels. Ever. Elements sure. Levels. No.
If Bethesda and Big Huge can do it, so can you.
* More party interaction, not less.
* People in the street do stuff, they are not furniture.
* Give the community modding tools to do what your dev group can't or won't do.

Really enjoyed Asunder so would like to see Orlais with the civil war going on. Very muched liked the origins part of the first game and how it gave you a slightly different cultural outlook on the game (dwarf commoner, city elf etc) so if it's Orlais perhaps a Mage/Templar origin, royalist/rebel origin or even a Qunari origin (he could be trying to exploit the civil war to the gain of the Qunari). I thought Corypheus was a great villan and I suspect we haven't seen the last of him, plus i'd like to know more on the Darkspawn's origins are they really a punishment from the Maker or a magical experiment gone wrong? What happened to the eleven city the Tevinter buried under the earth and would it be full of Darkspawn's now? And finally the ancient ruins in Ferelden's Forrest (and in the Daleish elf origin story) its suggested that men and elves were working side by side, what were they up to?

I like to see a game where the story is written, not given. Where we the gamers write the story, not live it. I think that what the dragon age universe means to me that everyone write there story differently. To be involve into the politics of the country to effect, a really good example is quest in Dragon Age: Awakening called "A Day In Court." The ability to make allies and see how the relationship pay off. I do not see the Dragon age universe as hack and slash universe, I see it as a universe of strategy. In addition, The ability to utilize companies talents for example, using Liliana to teach new generation of spy's and chose them to gather information to help the country.

In a nutshell, I would like to see a game that uses strategy and, where, we the gamers write the story not live it. it is something really powerful to do that.

The only bad thing of making games where the story is written in the game, is making movies, comics,..... etc. However, I really do not care about those, all I care about is making my own story in the universe and have my print in it.

I'd like to see Orlais, the Imperium, but most of all : the Anderfels. There the Grey Wardens are described as cold, stern, and there they are in control of a kingdom considered as being "the poorest nation in the world and the most feared" by Genetivi.

Well, with the end of Dragon Age II it's obvious that we are going to see the Warden and Hawke again, but maybe not as playable characters but they would be companions, maybe... and their personalities would be based on the dialogues we chose during the games. Yeah, it would be pretty hard to do this but a long development is better than a short one. Anyway it seems that is has been made clear that Dragon Age III will set a new character and I'd like to play a Seeker whose mission would be to unite the Warden and the Champion and put an end to the Mage/Templar War even though it seems that this hero will have to confront Flemeth. After all, Morrigan and Flemeth herself hinted that she is the main danger.

Orlais- MOA gave me a hankering for Orlesian decadence. I want masqurades, and music, and snide comments. I want to be drowned in gilded architecture and tasteful statues, and less than tasteful poetry. I want to see the schism between Orlisian Nobility and the Orlesian poor. I want to know that the Orleasian backstreets make Darktown in Kirkwall look like a holiday resort. I want to know about Orlesian plans for reconquoring Fereldan. I want the option to either thwart or support those plans. I want to see the Orlesian Wardens have differing philosophies about how to combat Darkspawn--example do they feel that wandering around the Deep Roads is actually stirring up trouble, threatening the Old Gods so they feel they have to retailiate? Is the Arichect up to his tricks--have some of the Orlesian wardens defected to his goals?

The Mage Question. I like the plot idea, and would like it developed further. I would like to see a mage here and there NOT turn into an abomination. I would like to see them DRAMATICALLY not turn into an abomintation. You see the swirlling lines, the smoking, the flickering ofthe abominations form and then--the mage. Just really pissed off. I would like to know how the Circle works in Orlais. Is it different than either in Fereldan or in Kirkwall--is it the least bad, or in some ways is it worse? How are they coping with the Mage rebellion? Has the Tevinter Chantry been preaching in the underground? Is there a strong Qu'anari influence. Maybe the elves are still effectively slaves there. Worse than merely being in an alienage, and working for scraps--

I want to see intrigue, the kind of backstabbing and double talking you can generally only get in a spy novel. I want to stumble into plots, and mess them up, and make some come into fruition. I want my actions there to have multiple consequences. Example, Because I help noble X, Noble Y dies, Noble Z gains an advantage, a village doesn't get medical aid, and a library is built--if I fail to help noble X, Noble Y lives, Noble A gains an advantage, a village doesn't get enough food, and a concert hall is built. A little extreme, but you get the idea. That to get certain goals accomplished you give up other things. I want to know that my actions have consequences, and not throw away lines.

I want to see tension between the Chevaillers and The Chantry. I want to be able to choose to join the Chevailies or the Chantry. I want that choice to matter, and affect the whole game. I want the feel of the differing Origin stories like in DAO to continue through the game. I like the ability to choose different characters, with different background, and different personalities.

I like the dialogue wheel, for two reasons--1) you can subtely influence dialogue through your choices- which is awesome 2) and you can have a consitant character. However, I am not a fan of the "paraphrasing" sometimes, I want to say what the paraphrase says, and not the actual dialogue. But I'm nit picking.

I like the button jumping between places, and I like the random encounters on the map. The thing I hate most about open world games is the DEAD TIME you have going from place to place. Yes that flower patch is very pretty, yes, the woods are full of monsters, Wow that statue is really in the middle of nowhere-- but I would like to get back to the story. I like the detail of an open world within the perameters of the map, but I don't want to go wandering around lost in the woods to fufil farmer joe's shopping list. I want to battle darkspawn, and mages, and explore important questions about philosophic morals choices--and bang my ridiculously attractive companions.

Also I want more sex. To be clear, I liked that when you had sex in DAO you did so with no clothes on. That the fade out scenes that still SHOWED YOU THINGS. I liked that. I liked the energy of Isabella's sex scence, I didn't even reallly like Isabella, but I like that scene. I liked being able to hold Merril in her underwear. I was mad that I couldn't do that with Fenris or Anders. I kind of liked that Avangline spurned my advances, I liked the option to try. I was sad that I couldn't with Varric--I would have accepted a flirt fest. And I was disappointed that I couldn't initiate sex when I wanted to with my character, and that the choices for exploring our relationship was limited to quests and actually directly interacting with my companions. I miss the random conversations that my companions imposed on me. I want that back. I would like to see these characters again, and not nessicarily as my companions. Just as being around.

I like the respect Rivalry/Approval gauge for companion loyalty. Keep that. That was awesome, if you can add more nuances to that, more's the better.

I want to see Tevinter. I want to see Tevinter so badly I can taste it. I want to feel the corruption, the darkness, the mavolence of a world that has swung the other way in the mage question. Is it as bad as Fenris painted it? Is it worse? Could it be worse? The idea that Fenris was actually downplaying Tevinter is terrifyingly awesome. Can I play a Tevinter mage? Can I be the bad guy? Can I have the choice of being a bad guy? In DAO I could be a bad person, but still accomplish good goals. It was hard to do that in DA2. I miss the option.

Tell me more about About the Chantry, about the Carta, about the Crows---All those groups that start with "C". Let me explore them, perhaps become part of them. I"m not asking for Guild Systems--but on occasional quest and influence on the plot would be nice.

Tell me more about the ELves' history, about the culture, let's find some pockets of archeological gold mines for them. And the other Dwarf cities, and what the hell was up with Hawke's dwarven ruin. What was the deal the Idol? I just want more.

A major theme I'm seeing in this thread seems to be that people really enjoy the history of the various nations in Dragon Age, and there's considerable weight given towards politics/ influencing your environment. Exploit this! Fix it so small changes can have dramatic effects on the environment if not thought out properly (thank you Kreia). Use Codex entries to explain why to this day Noble House A wants to kill Bloodline M. Even considering history lessons from previous games (including how history changes based on previous quests you did in other games) will have impact upon the world of Dragon Age, without just being numbers on a War Room Board.

No one wants a reading simulator, but it'd be nice to see a more cerebral game that rewards attention to detail, investigation, strategy, and care. Give players a challenge to their intellect that's also fun, and people will flock to it.

Overarching themes and plots will be critical. You saw how a good many players felt disconnected from the Templar/ Mages arc in DA2, and the other arcs felt far too minor by comparison. Let us be involved with building a great army again, or working on some great accomplishment throughout the game, and then let us behold as our creation awakens in the endgame. It worked for the Crucible and the army-gathering in DA:O. Even the Star Map questing in KOTOR followed this path. Maybe the quest won't be as epic as stopping the Blight, but maybe we can get something better than helping a slave city with its relatively piddling problems.

Tentacles and bondage. Also more pro-longed interaction with Demons. As in, not just for the duration of a single quest, rather for significant segments of the game. Maybe even have a Demon as a companion or a Summon spell.

You've already experimented with having Justice in the party, and how Merrill uses Blood-magic to summon demons. Give us the opportunity to enter a direct relationship with a Demon.

That is all.

P.S. I know its highly unlikely, It'd be nice to get those tentacles... and I don't care which way it goes :P

Been said before, but repetition is the key to remembering I guess so here goes: Orlais (opportunties for Leiliana interaction here), the Black City (with Morrigan could be particularly interesting), the Qunari homeland, Weisshaupt Fortress, Kal Sharok, the Tevinter Imperium (Fenris + this = fun times) and post-reconstruction Denerim (always nice to see the outcome of your actions from past games). The key is to get a feel for the atmosphere of the places, their cultures, etc. Each of these places has so much lore associated with it and built in conflicts and possibilities that they would make interesting places to explore (in depth) and interact with (i.e., rich enough canvases to tell heroic stories - although I think I just described most of Thedas.) For me the key is spending some time there - not flitting in and out (ME3 - Thessia, I'm looking at you).

The most important thing for me (though a lot would disagree) is the toolset.
I played DA:O and DA:2 a year each mostly because I and a lot of players can create mods. I really believe that if not for the story, the toolset is waaaaaay better than all DLCs combined. It adds a LOT of life to the game.

Now for the other stuff:

1. I loved the story of DA:O and liked DA:2. However, what made the former superior than the latter for me is the ending and the closure that it provides for the beggining of a series. Yes, it always ends in the Archdemon dying but how and what happens afterwards can be different in a lot of ways depending in your decision.

2. I really loved the fast paced battles, mostly because it is fun to see it (I find it boring if my warrior or rogue attacks really slowly) Though it still depends on what the majority or Bioware wants, please give us a total control of the camera's point of view or something and improved (or fix) the environment leveling.

3. Different races is really good but for me isn't a must (it really adds a lot of gametime and replayability though). However, companion customization and different looking surroundings is definitely a MUST. Please don't just recycle the environment and please please add the companion signature look that can be customized.

4. Improve and include cross-class and skill combos. I really love this because it really makes  you think what skills to prioritize and what strategies to use.

5. Please read your plots and codices carefully. No matter how good your story is, plot holes really makes it look bad.

6. If you can, please don't remove the developer console. You can cheat using it but why retain it? We all know that Bioware doesn't and can't really fix bugs and glitches at a seconds notice, just like quests that can't be finished or acquired, or getting stuck in a place or something, or those game breaking bugs and glitches. Well, the console can help us immensely when we encounter them. We'd be able to get pass them without raging so badly that it looks like we are harassing the customer service when in fact, we are just really pissed off we can't continue playing a game we paid for.

7. IF possible, more specializations and give it an impact in the story. Just like if I decided to be a Blood Mage and my super devoted to the Chantry Templar companion finds out about it, he/she should confront me about it and I should have to explain myself. Also, the exclusive content for specific choices shoudn't just be a 5 second additional dialogue or cutscene that will make a player shout "That's it?!"

8. Also, please don't ignore the other races and the other parts of your lore.

9. I don't mind co-op or some sort of multiplayer but I hate and despise it if it forces me to play it when I don't want to. Like the multiplayer Mass Effect 3 and its relation the the galactic readiness.

10. And oh, did I say that my choices SHOULD matter all the way to the end?

wow long list...
1) I'd like to learn more about the rest of Thedas, Orla, Weisshaupt, Antiva etc... all these exotic lands we here about that I want to see.
2) learn more about the Qunari, perhaps go to Seheron or Par Vollen to learn more about our horned neighbors (who look suspiciously like Flemeth in DA2). Personally I would have liked to have a huge horned Qunari on my team.
3) learn more about the dwarves, about Kal Sharok and the dwarves there, how they live and through them learn mre about the lost theighs, especailly the lost one we found in DA2, very interesting.
4) learn about the elves, perhaps the Dalish will consider building another nation and we be apart of it, or find the original Arlathan, sounds interesting
5) Learn more about the origins of the Darkspwan, something tells me we don't know the whole picture. or what we think is true is actually a lie, also follow up on the awakened darkspwn.
6)who or what the hell is Flemeth, something tells me that turning to a dragon is not the worst thing she can do...
7) follow up on our friends from all the games, even awakening. Even let some of them join our party during the game.
8) The templar mage war, an event this big must have a terrible war to follow
9) Grey Wardens, can't have a game of Dragon Age without them, and what becomes of our Grey Warden from origins
10) New worlds, places and creatures we haven't heard of or seen.
11) Choices, we want our choices in previous games to matter, I don't care if it adds years to the development I'll wait.
12) As for technical and graphic issues, the gameplay was nice in DA2, fast paced fighting was nice but a bit too fast, slow it down a bit so we can have fun stabbing or shooting fireballs, also the graphics in DA2 feels a little rushed, faces look less real then origins and the colors were so strong, I'm not an expert but that's how I feel.

I know it's a very long list and you probably won't get all of it, though I'm hoping they'll be more dragon age games after the third then maybe you'll get it all, but I trust you'll get most of it. I always loved Bioware's games, even though lately some of the games fill a little rushed I still think theyre great :)

Generally I'd prefer to have DA3 be more like DA:O, even though it was a story game it felt less streamlined and more open ended than DA2 when you played, even though DA:O was far from being an open world game it didn't feel as though it was holding your hand and dragging you through the story like DA:2 did.

Most of the other thoughts I had have already been mentioned but from a visual perspective I'd personally like to see the Darkspawn return to looking like their undead/zombiefied look from DA:O than the way they looked in DA2 but that is just a personal preference.

But I do agree with Kickiluxxx on his 7th point in the Dragon Age mythos Bloodmages are said to be evil and hunted down and whatnot and yet that never seemed to apply to my mage who appeared to be the only exception to the rule as it were.

Chris Priestly wrote...
What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

I'm curious to know more about:
  • Flemeth - I like the mystery about her and I'd like to keep not knowing everything but it's always intriguing to listen to bits about her past, future plans, etc.
  • Qunari homeland - Arishok's and Sten's opinions were so different, it would be great to see what does their homeland look like.
  • Circle - How does every day life really work inside the Circle camps for people like Bethany. What she told Hawke, it sounded pretty strict but oddly offered something - if not much - to live for at same time. It's a theme worthy of additional content but probably not interesting enough to be a centre of plot or something.
  • Morrigan - I didn't help her to get pregnant and an epilogue indicated she wasn't pregnant either. It sounded as such a dark choice, it's definitely a cliff-hanger which begs to be solved :).
  • Different states/places/cultures - I like a diversity, so I'd love to see anything what hasn't been uncovered in DA 1&2. Both games have already offered plenty of insights into the places where protagonists were walking around, so I think it'd be a good time to move on and competely focus on different parts of world, be it Rivain, Par Vollen or something what hasn't been mentioned in previous volumes yet.
In general, I'm far more interested in how the world works than in the plot about Dark Spawns/Old Gods/Grey Wardens (no offense but the main plot of DA:O is overplayed).

I wish for the game to become more dark again. Please return to the old design of the dark spawn! It was so scary but in number two they looked like guys in skull masks! I want the blood, the more reality like combat back. Return to how they fought in origins please. And make me scared and make it like difficult again because saving the world or if it's true about the plot being stopping a war between mages and Templars...is hard. Lol. Thank you so much for listening. I know that you do your best.

Oh and one thing has been on my mind, if a Mage is in hiding, why do they have their staffs and Mage clothing showing? Maybe mages in hiding have small staffs, like wands, and dress like anyone else. Maybe staffs are used by mages in the circle, but in hiding, mages made wands because their easier to hide and maybe they do more magic with just their hands. Thank you again!

I do want to see the following in the world of Dragon Age III:

1) Orlais culture, people and history there for you to find. I got an good idea in DA 2- MoA DLC but wanted more after finishing it. I really like to see the Orlais daily life.
2) Everything about the Qunari from the culture, history, their religion and other important factors about em. I loved DA 2 Qunari since I have an feel they are a strong group of people and heck even loved them talking abut the Qun.
3) Want to discover what's Flemeth all about. It's an long shot but worth asking.
