Hey just wanna say quickly that I am a big fan on dragon age series (even the second although it definatly could of been better). Love playing as a Mage.

Anyway personally what i want to see from the game are these:

Gameplay
  • Combat was much better in the Dragon Age 2 but less button smashing please. With a mage for example, loved how the staff animation looked while fighting but resorting to pressing a button over and over again while waiting for cooldowns is kind of boring.
  • Add more weapons for classes, by all means make the combat look as awesome as it did in Dragon Age 2 but just a bit more variety would be nice. Mages need another weapon than just a staff, they looked very cool in the second game (spinning them around while fighting etc) but it would be nice to use another weapon. Personally I would like to see Wands, certain films have shown how cool wand combat can be but I have yet to see a game that makes using them feel fun (hint hint).
  • In Awakening we had a taste of what its like to have political power. I really enjoyed the whole theme of being a ruler and having a castle.
  • Perhaps the most important one, choices that actually matter! Not just matter as in "Wow that was a pretty big" but we actually SEE the physical and visual effects of making a certain choice. If there is one thing i hate in an RPG its when we are given a choice that seems important but then shows no change on the world. For example maybe a village is suffering cause bandits have blockaded a major road. You get the quest, you make some moral choice and depending on what you do, you can see what happens to that village. Maybe it starts to thrive again or it becomes a place of poverty. Even the small choices we make should have some sort of effect on the world like helping a merchant set up shop or something.
World
  • Make exploration more worth while, I would really love to be able to come across ancient elven cities and find out what their culture was like. Problem with the past games is that the overworld has felt like a place to travel across to get to a quest.
  • I would like to see a larger free roaming element instead of being stuck on paths that limit our exploration.
  • Wouldn't mind seeing Orlais but it would be nice if we could travel to other parts of Thedas (Tevinter!). Obviously we can't see the entire map because that means we wouldn't have anything to look foward too in future games and the data would be too massive. Perhaps we can revisit places from previous games like Denerim and Kirkwall to see how they are faring (mainly from past choices from the last two games!)
  • Again because I think its so important, the visual impact of our choices on the world. Helping Dalish re-settle one of their old ancient cities (quests that help breathe life back into it) or helping the dwarves reclaim parts of the deeproads or dwarven city (and not just leaving with no reason to go back!).
  • This is just a personal preference but I like the idea of having companions together again in one location when not adventuring. The camp idea was nice in Origins so maybe if you are in a different part of the world there could be a camp. However I strongly prefer the idea of having a castle. The castle could be home and camp can be used when away from it.
  • Cities, towns and villages dotted across the map.
  • Weather.
  • NO RE-USING DUNGEON MAPS!!!
Story
  • Obviously this is the bit that your writers should do (and they have done an excellent job on the other Dragon Age games :D) but because given the chance to say what I'd like to see. I'd like to know what more about the Black City in the fade and all the lore stemming from that. Very interested in this due to what Corypheus said.
  • Definatly want Morrigan to make a return, as well as the old god she gave birth too if you did the ritual.
  • The story with Flemeth as well, very curious about what she has planned (Unless thats being saved for a future game, I would still like to know more about what she is plotting though).
  • What the Grey Wardens are up too and the Darkspawn being led by the Architect.
  • An appearance from the past characters (who are still alive depending on past actions) and perhaps having a few of them join your team as well as new ones. Even if some of them are not in the new team, please place them somewhere in the world so we can talk to them and give new dialoge as the game progesses. It would be nice feeling like the past characters are present with us in some form instead of it just being a cameo. Not when there is a war on! :D
Edit: Oh and also, because I plan on buying Dragon Age 3 on PC. I have played all the past games on my Xbox 360 but now i have a proper gaming PC, I would really like to see an official programe that allows us to thorougly create a new back story of everything that we have done in Origins, Awakening and Dragon Age 2. Including side missions that would be used in import data. Mass Effect had one but it only covered the major choices. In a game series where choices are everything, these sorts of tools are needed. I want to be able to talk to past npc's that I have helped out and they would tell me about how their life has changed since the Warden or Hawke showed up. It would be very much appreciated.

I would like to see:

1) The storylines of all the choices we made in Dragon Age Origins such as
- The Redcliffe Storyline: I want to see if Connor (or Rowan Guerrin depending on the choices) become a companion of the player's character as well as a Romantic love interest.

2)Alistair. Nuff said

3) I want to see ALL of Orlais much liks we saw Ferelden. I would like to learn about Orlais's culture, society, history etc.

4)I would love to see some of the storylines from DA:O and DAII tie into each other setting off an umbrella storyline.

5) An update on all the possible companions that we had in DA:O and DA:II

6) Be able to import game settings of both DA:O and DA:II into DA:III.

7) Learn more about Empress Celene I.

8) Consistent Continuity from both games.

9) Have more than 4 Romantic love interests.

That's all I have for now but I have more for later.

Shouldn't there be more variety with all the different criminal factions in the Dragon Age world? Origins played it simple with all the standard armors being everywhere so there really isn't much to talk about there, but in Dragon Age 2 each human enemy was the same person. When it comes to monsters or Stormtrooper esque soldiers, nobody minds that they all look alike. But what we have from the enemies in kirkwall is that Sharps Highway men, the Coterie, The Redwater teeth, The crimson weavers, the Invisible Sisters and loads of random mook mercenaries all have the same unique outfits, minus tougher mooks who don't wear helmets.

Is there a shop in Kirkwall that sells standard thug clothing that all the criminals shop at?

I'd love to see more about the Tevinter Imperium. I'd also like to spend a lot more time with the Qunari. I also think it'd be really awesome to see more of the pirates that crop up occasionally in the second game. Some stuff set at sea would be totally awesome!

I actually liked DA: II a lot so I want to know
-what happened to my Hawke's.
-Leliana
-how the Qunari are going to retaliate
-Flemeth and Morrigan
-the entire thing with the Architect
-what happened to Velanna
-deeper romances and the ability to spend more time with them. (Marriage and dates things like that)
-but most importantly what happened to my Hawkes and Fenris!!!!!!!

As a last bit of housekeeping, the purpose of these exercises isn’t crowd sourcing or soliciting your game dev concepts (keep those close in case you want to make a game someday!). This should remain a discussion between BioWare and fans about what you loved about Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2—what this franchise means to you.

Each monthly question is also not meant to be a debate so please keep things open enough for everyone to contribute their thoughts.

I agree with everything said above! I would also love to see a form of building incorporated into the game. For example: After I finished the DLC of the Wardens Keep, I was hoping there would be some more "rebuilding" to do for the Keep. Like finding dwarfs to rebuild walls or farmers to grow food and then people could come and live there. This was explored a little in the Awakenings expansion pack, but, I would love to see it go further. Something along the lines of the Suikoden games.

Q:What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

A:
Orlais: More Orlesian history, culture and politics, more information about Empress Celene, Grand Duke Gaspard and the civil war.

Ferelden: What the monarch thinks about the Templar/Mage War and the Orleasian civil war (Anora expanding Ferelden?).

Tevinter: More Tevinter culture and politics, perspective on the nation from a Mage/Senator. More info about the ancient Tevinter imperium.

Old Gods: Any more information would be interesting and appreciated.

Templars: Who is leading them against the mages?

Qunari: What happend to Sten from DA:Origins? I would like to see Andrastians who converted to the Qunari and to see some Qunari "citizens", not just the army. Learning about the Qunari priests would also be nice.

Thank you

I am always interested in socio-political conflict, the invidvidual vs the state/chruch, the push and pull of order vs chaos and containment vs freedom. Given that, I am not particularly fussed by what aspects of the dragon age world the next phases focus on, as long as whatever the framework or medium it is explored in maintains the narrative depth and complexity that make BioWare games so strong.

This one would like to discover more answers regarding the cultures, most importably The Qunari/Kossith race. It would be nice to see the rest of The Triumvirate, and what caused them to act very drastic towards the mages. Also on a smaller note, this one is also curious on what happend with a certain Darkspawn, sent by Architect, which Warden could spare. This one thinks, that he would be an interesting companion option. This one hopes, that the Enkindlers would consider his questions.

First off I'd like to know what happened to my Warden after the events of "Witch hunt". I think we need a bit of closure. On that note what happened to Hawke after the events in Kirkwall. What are Flemeth's Plans? As for places, like most of the posts I have read Orlais,Tevinter, and Par Vollen would be very interesting places to visit, perhaps even Rivani. I'd like to see more of the Fade, which has always interested me. As for what I liked between the games. I like DA 2's combat system a bit more, seemed more fluid and exciting. Didn't care for visiting the same cave 30 something times made multiple play throughs a bit redundant. To me the two DLCs were more Dragon Age than the actual game. In Dragon Age: Origins I liked the locations and the story, Combat was a bit slow but still interesting. I think the next game should have a bit more open feel to it like the first one, instead of going around in one city. Open a region for us to explore.

I would like Dragon Age to start tying up some of the loose ends presented in the last two games. Things like Flemeth's identity, what the Black City really is, where my Warden and Morrigan went that is beyond the Fade, The implications of the Old God Baby, etc. One of my biggest disappointments of DA2 is that very few of those questions were touched upon, and the ones that were didn't receive real answers, just tidbits the muddied the waters even more. I don't expect every question answered, but some substantial information would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like an actual crafting system placed in the game. I didn't care about that until I played Skyrim. It was a great diversion that lengthened my gameplay time considerably. It also allowed my to create great weapons without having to find them. However, one of the things that irritated me about Skyrim, and especially the Witcher 2 was the sheer amount of crafting/ alchemy agents that you could acquire. The Witcher 2 went way overboard in that regard.

I would also appreciate a less linear game design. I'm not asking for a completely open world, but I would appreciate a few less doors that I can't open, or places I can't run.

I really like the Qunari, but besides them, I would appreciate it if the game did not focuse on the more mundane aspects of the the Dragon Age universe, ie. politics (unless it makes sense in the story).

Places I would like to see: Rivain, the Tevinter Imperium, Antiva. I know I'm alone in this, but I'm not very excited to go to Orlais.

A return to a more epic feel in the story. I don't want to find the Catalyst, I want to BE the Catalyst. By way of analogy, in DAO, the Warden was Aragorn. In DA2, Hawke was more like Eomer- important? Sure, I guess. But hardly essential in terms of world events. Just my opinion.

That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for asking.

My biggest recommendation would be to not force users to use Origion.  I passed on Mass Effect 3 for that reason and will pass on Dragon Age 3 as well if it forces me to use Origion.  I would also like to be able to purchase it via Steam but as long as I am not required to go through Origion or install that software at all thats the biggie.

My main concerns from DAII have been adressed in the video you posted awhile ago.  I would like to see different races again.  Maybe a mix of the DA:O and DAII artsyles would be nice, it seemed like DAII just got kind of plasticy.

Dear Bioware,

I am a fan of the Dragon Age series. I enjoyied playing the first one and got through the repeative nature of the second one. As a fan of both Fantasy and Sci-Fi I hve come up with several ideas that I would like to see in the Next incarnation of the Dragon Age game. However, and this is a big however I will NOT GIVE MY IDEAS out for free like the rest of the fans. This is not an attack to all who are here but a statement of my opinion. With the debalcle of the Mass Effect 3 ending and these harsh economic times an idea or set of ideas that could make a RPG game of Bioware's caliber are as valuable as gold. I am willing to give you my ideas, typed up in a well formed letter in exchanged for a Job or atleast a paid internship. As an underemployed college student I would look like to apply my various talents with all those amazing people at Bioware and be able to say that I worked at such a wonderful company.

Thank You for taking the time to read this.

I wish i could see more dragons, more welcrafted female characters, a deeper story interaction with the characters that acompany the player... Something like Mass effect Series, trully deep characters... I would also ask about the possibility to have kids in the game, and how this would affect the world around you, marriage too, also i wish we could have romances with other characters that dont usually acompany you.

I wish we could also understand more deeply the darkspawn, that we could have castles and raise pets. I wish whe could get to know more about the tevinter imperium, the orlesians, antiva, and that our actions had more impact on the world

Also, i was thinking about the possibilities of introduction a free and explorable world similar to skyrim. were we could explore inside the deep roads, the forests, cities, and anything else we could think...

I also would love to see new factions!

I personally would like to see more of the cities of the Dragon Age world. I thought that Denerim, Orzammar and Kirkwall were really cool locations that were flavorful and fun to explore.

I also liked some of the "secret" quests in Dragon Age I, like finding all the Revenants and Gaxkang. I like the Dragon Age universe because there are so many dark, evil things with really cool back stories.

The Tevinter Imperium and Qunari seem like they have a lot of room for story growth. The imperium characters thus far have all been involved in some diabolical plot or another and would love a chance to go the Imperium itself. Everyone knows about the Qunari from the second game, and its going to be interesting to see what its like when they attack Ferelden.

I think the actual origin of Darkspawn needs some clarification too. Not sure exactly how they came to be. Also the Architect was one of the more grey characters and would love to find out what happens to him.

As a whole, I find the religions of Dragon Age really interesting and want to learn more about the Old Gods, the Golden City, the Maker and Andraste.

As much as I found the fade sections sort of tedious in the Origins (they were more interesting in Awakenings), I think the fade is a really cool concept and one of the more interesting parts of Dragon Age lore.

Whatever you do, keep putting awesome, detailed codex entries for the dedicated fans. The codex is really really awesome and adds an additional element of story for the most hardcore fans.

I thought of another thing that would be nice the little bar where you have your quick buttons - maybe like Diablo make it so you can have more than one bar? It'd be nice to have enough bars to put all your potions and skills/abilities on.

the old gods and how they were worshipped, how they are turned into archdemons, ect all seemed a little light on explanation. also the game describes the tevinter imperium as the old power of the world, even though it is still in existence in da2, how did it get to be just another nation from its glorious roots? Also andraste and her story. in dao i always felt like andraste was just someone that he religious npcs talked about, her story seemed important but hard to care about.

Also from a writing perspective: the da world is full of ruins of old civilizations and such, but every time the player character gets there there are bandits hiding there or looter have already raided the place. I miss the feeling of being the first person stepping foot in a location since its original inhabitants died out or left. Maybe take a hint from the uncharted games in this matter.

A few things I'd like to see explored...
1. Orlais. If we aren't going back to the first game's setting, we might as well go to the interesting French inspired land of Orlais.
2. The religious assassin guild we saw Leliana a part of in DA2.
3. More of the Grey Wardens story. The first game established that as such an interesting group which barely had any kind of effect on DA2. Even if it's a new Warden character, it'd be interesting to see how that group exists/are viewed in a different land with different villains.

I want to learn more about Red Lyrium and the Primeval Thaig. What secrets did the ancient dwarves know that their descendants aren't aware of now? Was it possible that the thaig dated back to a time where dwarves were magic-capable? What exactly is The Stone and how can it create beings like the Profane? There are rumors that The Stone is located under Orlais which happens to be the most powerful nation in Thedas and the seat of the Chantry's power.

Also, what would happen if the last remaining Archdemons rose up together to lead the single greatest blight of history. Is it possible that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the Archdemons' capabilities? Could Razikale, the Old God of Mystery, spin a carefully-planned of intrigue in a future game? Could Lusacan, the Dragon of Night, cover Thedas in a blanket of darkness to strike fear into the hearts of all that appose him? Do the Disciples still remain after Dragon Age Awakening? How many are there, what do they intend to do? Is it possible for a Disciple who agreed with the Architect's motives and wanted to become good; could he help the main character in a future Blight? So many questions plague my mind regarding the darkspawn... so little answered.

Then there's the Templar-Mage War. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out but I see a confrontation in Orlais' capital that'll be crashed by the darkspawn hordes but that's just me.

BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka has mentioned that we’d like to open up more in future Dragon Age titles, so now we turn to you: What kinds of things would you like to learn more about? Antivan weddings? Orlesian balls? The remnants of the Tevinter empire? Burial customs among the Chaisind?

What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

We look forward to hearing from you. :)

Bioware, glad you could join us.
Ask, and ye shall receive.
What i would like to discover/learn:
1. Discover more Areas, that look different.
2. Learn what happens with The Architect and Corypheus(If you let the architect live and there were hints Corypheus survived).
3. Discover If you (or alistair/loghain) have a son with Morrigan, what happens to him.
4. Learn What happens with The Hero of Ferelden in the intervening time.
5. Discover if has Wynne died yet.
6. Learn what happens with the Qunari with one of their "pillars" dead(Arishok).
8. Discover what happens with former companions of the Warden and Hawke ( Sten, Shale, Oghren, Sigrun, Velanna, Fenris, Varric, Merrill etc etc. Awakenings companions are important too, i worked my arse off to make sure the fortress holds because that epilogue sounded beast).
9. The Eluvians. Learn what the hell do they actually do.
10. Learn Flemeth's plan, what she is and what shes up to(or at least some of it).
11. Discover how the Mage/Templar war affects your protagonists, especially if they'e on different sides (mage warden, sided with templars DA2).
12. Discover a bit of expansion with some of the quest storylines(qunari, mages.
13. Learn What happens to Hawke's sibling(if they survive).
14. Learn what Sebastian does if he returns to Starkhaven out of anger.
15. Discover if Vengeance consume Anders, and make him into an abomination if he lives.
16. Discover more loot. I don't want to have to save money for 3 ingame years and be barely able to afford a ring.
17. Learn whatever is continually refered to as being "Beneath Orlais".
18. Learn what happened to those Harvesters you see at the end of "Golems of Amgarrak".

Half this is probably already in the thread, and some might be unimportant. But i'd like to know this stuff.
Still no guarantee i'll care, i'll wait until the Extended cut of ME3 comes out.
