as long as it fits with the lore in the story i'd love to see the sylvans make a return. almost every companion from dragon age 2 seemed to have a non-personal relationship with hawke in the second despite going on personalized quests meant to help you get to know the character, and because that chemistry wasn't achieved (in my opinion) i am not looking forward to having them in my party again, they need to take a backseat in the story much like your dao character does in da2 (spoiler) "hey look i'm a king, or hanging out with the king, kay byeee!" i'd also like to continue that origin story, i totally fell in love with the first game's story and would love to see it further fleshed out! quick other suggestions: the combat in da2 stepped it up but i don't think it needs anything more than some subtle tweaks and expansions (seriously great job!) high resolution textures (you dont need a new engine, just some sprucing up) graphical options for pc players! and i know i'm beating a dead horse saying it but i would kick myself for not saying it: sell it on steam! you'll make more money and repair broken friendships with customers, completely win:win! drop ea if they pidgeon hole your game into an origin client exclusive. there are plenty of other ones out there, (i've heard paradox are some very nice people and would love to see bioware's consistent creativity. or you can do a kickstarter, it's not like you lack the fanbase and again players get inspired when they see a beloved developer go rogue and and succeed.

we say these things because we love you, and we love your games, and i wanted to thank you for giving players this opportunity to help shape your next masterpiece!<3

1) I would like 'DA3' to be as big, epic, and long as Origins was. Story mode wise and tons of dlc for characters, etc.

2) I would like the option to create my own character and to play as different races/origins again. Perhaps some sort of an off-shoot style mode with the created characters having their own side story that ties into 'DA3's main plot, etc? Maybe you guys can use this idea to help shape the multiplayer? That would be awesome!

3) I would like to know more about the archdemon-baby and to possibly have him/her as the new
protagonist.
4) I want dragon form as an ability for the shapeshifting class. (I've been dying to turn into a dragon since 2!) :o

5) I want Morrigan and Flemeth to return and to have a big impact on the story.

6) I want to know a lot more about "The Black City" and "The Old Gods".

7) I want more backstory for the city/dalish elves.

8) I want all of the main characters from 'Origins' to return in some sort: Oghren, Wynn, Shale, Allistair, etc, etc. Same goes for 'DA2'.

9) I want to see Hawke and the Warden team up in some way.

10) Keep the convo wheel, level up tree, and combat system from 'DA2'. Tweak them perhaps.

11) I want to customize my party members to my liking. Gear to weapons.

12) Let me return to Ferelden, Kirkwall, and everywhere else that I've visited in the previous games, along with exploring new places such as "The Black City". (Please?) :innocent:

13) I want free roam to be like Skyrim's style.

14) Bring back the arcane warrior class.

15) 'Dragon Age' needs more dragons! Skyrim style dragons!

16) Last but not least; I want to see an all out war for control between every race in 'Dragon Age': Dwarves vs Golems; Mages vs Templars; Nobles vs the poor; Dalish vs city elves; Werewolves vs dalish; Quanri vs the humans and whoever else; So on and so forth.

In simpler terms: If 'DA3' is a lot like 'Origins', I would be very, very, happy. :D

I want  to give a big thanks to everyone at Bioware for giving us fans the the pleasure/oppurtunity of shaping our next adventure. Despite all the hate certain people may give you guys, I and many of your fans will support you no matter what. You guys are truly the kings/queens of storytelling! ;)<3

Wha
t kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

  • I'd love to visit tevintar in the course of the main quest, to learn more about it and maybe incidentally help/hinder a slave rebellion why I'm there.
  • I'd also love to discover the ruins of Arlathan, both visually and lorewise that would be amazing, you could learn more about the ancient elves and just maybe meet some survivors? Image IPB
  • Learning more about corypheus and the other first/ancient darkspawn would also be cool
Regardless of where we end up exploring I'd like to be able to see it from different perspectives. l Like how a dwarf commoner, dwarf noble and a human mage walk into a bar view Orzammar and the events therein very differently. I enjoyed dragon age 2 and all, it was the first and thus far the only game to actually make me cry, but I did miss the replayability of origins.

It's been said quite a bit, so I'll focus more on general issues in a minute, but moving to Orlais for the next title is what I would like to see, but Antiva would be nice too, so long as there are also ships…and pirates…and cannon. Also, more mythology that explores the nature of the Darkspawn, the truth about Andraste and just where exactly all those griffons got off to wouldn't have me complaining, either.

Now for the general:

In relation to future games: It would be nice to have each game only focus on one region of Thedas. For example, in a hypothetical DA3, we find ourselves going about merry adventures in Orlais and the surrounding environs—and only those areas. This would allow you as developers to give each game a unique feel and look as well as the opportunity to expand the DA universe significantly as each region we visit in each title would be immensely detailed and specific. Jumping all over the map would naturally constrain the amount of detail in each area. You've already done this in the previous titles, so, well, carry on…

Gameplay: It could be a big mistake to go with a Skyrim sandbox approach to a future DA title. What attracts most people to Bioware games (among other things) is the narrative, the characters and the rich storytelling. Sandbox/MMO-style games are fairly light on narrative, heavy on solipsism and completely lacking in character(s).

I like the focus on encounters rather than combat in the DA2 DLC. This brought back the feeling of exploration and scope that we saw in DA:O as it got us away from reused environments and eliminated the sometimes-forced, fast-roping bandits we came across on the streets of Kirkwall. Plus, it gave each area and each encounter a narrative anchor rather than just an opportunity for more XP.

Technical things: Speaking of XP, more items that grant bonuses to XP (but perhaps negatives to other critical stats) would be a bone you could throw to XP junkies like myself. Also, while more of these were seen in the DA2 DLC, more items (especially accessories) that level with you (but, again, balanced in other ways) would be nice to see.

Each companion should have their own unique look, as much to maintain consistency with that character's personality as anything else, but it would be nice if we could give them different items or armor upgrades that would augment their look as the game progressed—much like the system you already discussed in one of your previous blog posts. In the DA2 system, we could upgrade their armor, but this was just a stat change when it could have been an aesthetic change as well. It would maintain each characters look while allowing for some customization, too.

Seeing more development between the [voiced] protagonist and and his/her companions—like we did with Shepard and his non-LIs in ME3—would be lovely.

In relation to the franchise as a whole, more cross-media tie-ins would be a great way to expand the universe. By this, I mean more canonical comics, web-series, short films (à la Dragon Age: Warden's Fall) and, most especially, novels. These could help to flush out aspects of characters and regions that were only touched on in other titles and perhaps not on the list to be revisited any time in the foreseeable future. Like the Gaider novels, they could focus on NPCs from the games or original characters. This could only add to the universe as well as raise interest in future titles. Speaking of which, as an experienced fiction writer and in an effort to take the burden off the game's writing team, I'll be happy to submit my CV, portfolio and any letters of reference you might require for your consideration…:innocent:

I liked the different armor graphics in DA: Origin. You should bring that back. Having a mixture of weapon and armor graphics customizes your experience really well. I do agree with rcollins1701 that each character should still have their unique look for whatever armor it is they have on.

I would also like to be able to play any type of race (human, elf, qunari, and dwarf) much like DA: Origin with their own backstory. I do like the conversation wheel and think it would be great with voice overs for any character race you play.

An open world like that of Skyrim would be totally awesome just don't throw in useless quests of gathering items to make stuff. Don't put in guys that keep saying they took an arrow in the knee. Story is the key much like previous DA and ME games.

Finally I liked the darker artistry of characters in DA: Origins. Some of the DA 2 ones, like the darkspawn and elves really put me off. I think the feel should be more of a Dark Knight type experience not a Val Kilmer batman type of experience.

There really are a lot of interesting things to learn more about. I wouldn't mind learning more about the wedding ceremonies, particularly by being allowed to actually 'have' one. I know that there almost was an Elven wedding ceremony in DAO, but thats about it. An Orlesian wedding would be nice. Onto more serious topics, one thing I'd like to learn more about is the Grey Wardens. I'd like to visit at least one of their major bases, maybe earn the chance to become one again, really get back into the whole Grey Warden thing, its just so cool, and such a major part of the DA Universe.

Of course I'd love to learn more about Morrigan and her child, Leliana, and Flemeth, I like all of them in their own unique way, and I'd really like for each of them to ultimately end up on the same side, fighting against some truly evil opponents, instead of it just turning out that Flemeth really is evil after all and we have to kill her or something, that would be sad. Also Queen Anora, did she ever have any children, or is she truly incapable of that, as some had apparently suspected? If so, who would be the next leader of Ferelden? Alternatively, could she possibly summon Morrigan to provide her with some useful magic that would allow her to have a child so that there would be a clear successor, preventing any sort of fighting or chaos upon her passing?

As for locations, I think we all know Orlais is the place, and I'm definitely up for that. I'd like to see Tevinter at some point also, that sounds like a pretty unique place worth seeing. In general, I'd like to learn more about the Dwarves and the Deep Roads, whatever cities might be left at this point, and of course I'd love to explore some more interesting Thaig ruins. There's something about the Deep Roads, I know that they turned some people off in DAO due to the overkill, they seemed to go on forever and ever, but so long as they aren't too long I really just love em, they're so unique and cool. I'd like to find some more cool and unique items and/or creatures there as well, preferrably something thats actually useful, unlike that thing we find in DA2 that just turns people crazy.

I'd like to learn if there are some sane, non-racist elven clans somewhere. All that racism, the whole 'humans are evil' thing, it gets real old real fast, I'd much rather meet some elves that have enough of a brain in their heads to tell the difference between good and bad humans, the same way you can tell the difference between good and bad elves, dwarves, or anybody else.

I'd also like to learn more about the darkspawn, the different types of darkspawn, exactly how many of them can talk, or even think? Do they have any actual motivations, other than digging tunnels to find yet another archdemon? What exactly are they hoping to accomplish? Do they just want to kill and eat everybody, or is there more to them?

Honestly, there are just so many fascinating things to learn about in the DA Universe, that it would be a lot harder to find boring stuff to focus on than interesting stuff. I'm definitely looking forward to our next adventure, and I'm glad that the good folks of Bioware are interested in what we're interested in. I can't wait to find out more about what's coming!

To keep it simple, I want to see the story of hawke and his comrades expanded. Then maybe expand upon the Tevintar magistars agian, as with the Legacy DLC, then bring on the Qunari! Each of these elements from DA2 made the game memorable for me, as well as Varric, cant forget him or Aveline

1) I want the characters from dragon age origins back because they made Dragon Age to be love like that.
2) I want to know what happened with Morrigan and her baby.
3) I want more of the Gray Warden.
4) I want at least a little of Ferelden once more
5) I want Dragons.
6) I want a game like dragon age origins.

Here what I like to see in Dragon Age 3. Also agree with romulorsesende

1.Bring back the warden and hawk
2.Final fight with flemeth
3.What happen to morrigan and her baby
4.Maybe to build or recruited an army like dragon age origins.
5.Maybe you can build or take a fort or buy business, what I mean is something like dragon age awakening where you fix the fort up from the guards and the walls of the fort.
6.To influence politics like dragon age origins. What I mean is like at the landsmeet where you can convince the nobles to join you side, or even marry king or queen.

First of all i want you to take your time and create a game that stays true to the DA Origins spirit !~! Forget this ideology "lets's try to make DA more appealing to other audiences "DA is a fanasy RPG and this is the form it should remain !! Try to make breathtaking levels for exploration like skyrim RDR had !! Combine those with a very atmospheric great soundtrack !!! Try to deliver a great story and a big one so that the game to be replayable (un,ike DA2 ) .SOS Dont make the game with DLC in mind PLEASEEE !!! .WE WANT A GAME THAT IS WORTH 60 DOLLARS .And finally make a combat that its not action focused THIS ISN'T A HACK N SLASH GAME

There are many good suggestions on this thread like exploring the darkspawns' origin, the truth behind the Black City, Andraste, lyrium etc...

But there' one thing that I want to emphasis on, and it's that not everyone did the Dark Ritual with Morrigan. And not every Warden who refused to do it died.

I hope the import option takes issues similar to this into consideration, and I hope to see the [different] consequences of my actions from the previous games.

Being able to import our warden from Origins would please and impress a lot of people.
I want to see more of Oghren. He was the most fun, knocked back that darkspawn blood like a champion drinker should. We need more of that, someone who enjoys slaughtering enemies by the dozens and enjoys it.
Seems we all want to see more of the Black City. It was so enticing off in the distance. Made me want to crack it open with my destruction focused mage and take all it's secrets.

What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

  • History: Tevinter history, Elven history. Eluvian most of all.
  • Society & Politics: especially Tevinter, but I'd be happy with pretty much anything not faux-British.
  • Geography & Architecture: beautiful landscapes, impressive ruins, magnificent cities -- that actually feel like cities for once, thank you very much. I'm mainly thinking Orlais (Val Royeaux, Western Approach/Abyssal Reach, Dales, broken bridge across the Waking Sea,...) and its borders (Hunterhorn Mountains/Kal-Sharok, Tirashan/Urthemiel Plateau, Gamordan Peaks and beyond), but Par Vollen comes right after. The rest is pretty much on equal footing.
  • Conflicts: Mages v. Templars is fine, but Tevinter v. Qunari has my imagination running wild way more vividly.

As I have yet to play DA2 because of an incident with my local Gamestop, my wishes will
be based on the information available to me in Origins.

I would like to know more about the Grey Wardens in Anderfels, seeing as they have a
great deal more political power than in Ferelden. That would of course include
Weisshaupt and the First Warden.

Another popular destination it seems is Orlais. How “the game” is played, the tension
between Orlais and Nevarra (a place I would like to learn more about), and the
clash between liberals and conservative religious in the country.

The Tevinter Imperium is might be an interesting place to learn more about, either
as an antagonist or otherwise. The Old Gods and the Imperial Chantry are things
that would fit together with this setting.

And finally, the thing that perhaps intrigues me most is the plight of being a mage
in Thedas. I already know this is touched upon in DA2, but I would like to
learn infinitely more about the circle of Magi, the way they are treated in the
Imperium and so on.

On second thought, you also ask what we wish to discover. I would like to discover more about elven and dwarven culture and history, and some new races, or reintroduced (griffons) would be exciting. I would also like to discover lesser houses that perhaps do not hold any importance to the plot, but to be able to befriend them and perhaps call on them for aid, maybe even in a later game would be an awesome feature. :wizard:

* I'd like to see more about the Satinalia festival and how its celebrated.

* More on Morrigan, Flemeth and the archdemon-baby. I have a feeling their story is going to be core to the overall plot somehow.

* I loved the Mark of the Assassin DLC but it would've been nice if there was an option to wear a dress at the party (I haven't seen any of my female characters wearing a dress yet).

*Sandal and Bodahn should remain as reoccuring characters. I'd like to know more about Sandal or dwarven magic if it exists.

* I'd like to know what happened to my Cousland queen after awakenings and if she was able to have a baby with Alistair? (I generally want to see more of the Couslands if possible. Like how Fergus rebuilt his life during the events of DA2? Did he remarry? Is he searching for his sister/brother? )

* I'd like to see what Antivans and Orlesians do for entertainment (more along the lines of performing arts and music. Do the Orlesian chevalier have jousting? Masked balls etc.)

*I'd like to play more missions where your character can disguise him/herself (maybe if they're a rogue type for example).

That's all I can think of right now, but more than anything - please keep a good range of endings/possibilities like you did with DA:Origins. It was perfect!

The Black City, the old gods, flemmeth/morrigan/baby.
In regards to Ms. Meridans further defintion of the purpose of the forum, what I loved about Dragon Age origins was the perfect balance of collosal, epic, terrifying quests (the achievement of slaying the Archdemon is easily one of my favorite moments in gaming) with the beautifully written, intimate small details, the stories and relationships with your companions the sheer historical depth of every corner and facet of Ferelden. You truly did create a beautiful game.
Admittedly, I didn't enjoy Dragon age 2 as much however I hugely enjoyed the shock and awe "OMG" moments (Hawke's mother, the blowing up of the chantry) the more cinematic conversations with characters (although there could of been more of them and I would appreciate at least the option of interacting with the character outside of camp) and, on the consoles, the gameplay was fun, if lacking the strategy of origins on the pc.
I genuinely have nothing buy hope for Dragon Age 3, Leliana's description of Orlais gave me chills and I hope you enjoy making it. Don't be disheartened by the absurd hating.... People wouldn't be so obsessed if the first one wasn't so damn good (probablly my favorite RPG). I cannot wait for what you have to offer and wish you all the best from one fan.

Dragon Age 2 was so bad i dont have much urge to learn anything from the Dragon Age universe any more... but i remember that Morrigan and everything about her was very intriguing.

If Dragon Age 3 will be like Dragon Age 1, then maybe my interest in the world would come back.

What do I want to know?

1. What is this promise that Maric made to Flemeth?

2. What is Flemeth up to?

3. What's going on with Morrigan and our child?

4. What is the Architect up to?

5. Why did Hawke and the Warden both disappear? and why did Leliana say that it was no coincidence? (assuming Warden Survived)

6. I want more depth with the mage/templar struggle, I want to see more of both sides.

The elves' lot is so sad - relegated to slums in the cities, while the remaining elves left to their nomadic ways are so suspicious of outsiders.  It would be nice to see how they were before slavery, to see their whole, undamaged culture.  Actually I'd like to see where the slavers came about in the first place - the darker side of culture is always fascinating to me.

Origins of the wardens too - I liked being a warden much better than being the Champion and I want to know how they started and why they don't ride griffons any more and where can we get new griffons?

I see a lot of people mentioning an Orlesian ball, and I can't help but echo this sentiment.  A masqerade and political intrigue, oh my.

4) (continued from previous post) more on elven history, especially pre-quickening elves
