I would love to see more of the northeast of Thedas. Antiva, Rivain, Seheron and the Imperium. These all seem like interesting places to see and experience, and an opportunity to see much more than the generic pseudo-medieval western European setting.

There's so much I'd like to see more of!

My favorite place in DA1 was Orzammar. It was beautiful, with all the lava and the caves and rock formations. As a result, my first playthrough was with a dwarven noble who really pined for his home. Really easy to roleplay because of how amazing Orzammar was, and it turned into a story and a character I'll never forget.

In DA2 Mark of the Assassin, I wasn't crazy about the sneaking parts, but I loved the Orlesian hunt and the party afterwards. It was great fun with lots of dialogue and careful manouvering to get what you wanted. The cameos and pretty dresses helped too. Overall, I haven't had the slightest interest in Orlais, as it has has been made to look kind of silly and
fashion-obsessed. On the other hand I love 18th century France, so
if it's anything like that I'll probably come around. And I guess Orlais would suit me since I like scheming and intrigues in a story.

Tevinter society fascinates me. Imagine a Dragon Age game where you get to be a mage in a society that is so totally different from all the mage-hating places we've seen before! Also, The Tevinter Chantry. How does that work? What's it like compared to the "normal" Chantry? Overall, if we got to see more of Tevinter society and not just a few NPC's talking about it, I'd be a happy camper.

Also, I love the Qunari. Can we visit Par Vollen or Seheron in the next game, pretty please? Or at least a camp or settlement that feels like it's alive. We learned lots about them in DA2, I guess, so I don't know why I'mnot satisfied. I guess I want to get to know the culture more, do a few quests, talk to lots of ordinary people, maybe see the celebration of a fallen hero that Sten was talking about? (Sten, I love you, come back!) Anyway, something more than the camp in DA2 where the only person you interact with is the arishok.

I'd also like to know more about the Chasind, maybe through a companion or visiting them?

As you can see, I'm crazy about lore and the cultures of Thedas, so bring on the wedding ceremonies and burial customs. ;)

What does Dragon Age mean to me? I've got real emotional connections to the setting and the characters. To me, Thedas and characters like Varric, Alistair, Teagan, Sten... They're as real as anything in a book or movie, probably more. If you hurt them, I'll cry. If Dragon Age 3 has always-online DRM or forced multiplayer or broken DLC or is unfinished, I'll cry too. Because my Bioware games mean so much to me that it's probably unhealthy.

Also, can we have less substance abuse?

In order to become Darkspawn killing badasses, Wardens have to drink Darkspawn blood. In order to become mage crushing badasses, Templars have to drink Lyrium. I also seem to remember something about Reavers having to drink dragon blood.

On their own, each of these is fine. But, together, they start to make an annoying pattern. It feels like warriors can't compete with mages and rouges without a little "assistance".

I would like to learn more about warriors who don't need foreign substances to be heroes.

While i am rambling about warriors and specialisations, what about Spirit Warriors? That warrior specialisation was introduced in Awakening, and i have always felt it deserved more in game discussion then it got. It is a very interesting premise.

You mean the word, "mage," right? (Because I'm interested to know more about qunari mages.)

Also.

What kinds of things would you like to discover and learn about the Dragon Age world?

The qunari and the Tranquil.

But, "discovery" implies that I don't know what is coming, which is entirely cool with me. I'd love more surprises, like that amazing surprise Sister Petrice had with her. (Without spoiler.) And that amazing Asunder revelation, on the other point. (Without spoiler.)

I would love to learn more about the Dwarves' history and their connection to magic.

Also I'd like to learn a bit about the Architect, I know he's not been mentioned since Awakening, but with the introduction of Corypheus and their similar character designs I'd love to know the connection. Was the Architect a magister who had forgotten his past? Or something entirely different? In the same vein, seeing as the magisters weren't really like the darkspawn we know, hurlocks and the like, how did the spawn of the horde come to be? It's hard to imagine Corypheus, who seemed completely normal minus his appearance, creating a broodmother. (They vomit their taint into the female's mouth don't they?) It might be a knit picking, but I would like to see the creation of the darkspawn clarified a bit.

More stuff about the Dwarves please. Specifically the Primeval Thaig Dwarves, whom I suspect were Mages.

The game practically says "This is what you should think, so think it!". Well... I'm thinking it!

And more Darkspawn related lore. I believe the PT is connected in some way to the Darkspawn's origins, which would be rather interesting.

Oh and an Awakened Darkspawn companion.

I would like to know more about the ongoing hostilities between the Qunari and the Tevinters.

The Qunari society as well. So far in the 1st two games I simply have not liked the Qunari at all and can't sympathize with them in the least. I was not a fan of Sten and hated the Arishok and his henchman. (I'm not saying they were not interesting characters but as a player I simply thought they were totally full of bull whenever questioned about anything.) I assume this is not the true intent for the developers, it will take a lot of effort on their part to make me feel otherwise.

I think one my favorite parts of the Qunari is their use of language. They do not have "mages" because under the Qun you ARE your role. And this is a role they do not allow to be filled.
But I can see that sounding like a bunch of BS to some people.

My beef with them is they go to great lengths in telling people how they should behave and yet totally ignore faulty behaviour on their own part and usually respond in a way which indicates 'you mere mewlings just don't understand'.  They are the biggest don't do as i do, do as i sayers around.

For example, the Arishok rails and rails about the terrible behaviour and self serving actiosn of the people of kirkwall and yet he does things like letting a crazed elf have some gas bombs and acts as if it is not his fault in the least of the consequences.

The Arishok lambasts Javaris tintop for having others do his dirty work for him and yet he is more than willing to have Hawke do the Quanris dirty work in a few cases.  Expansion on the other parts of their society might soften my stance on them but I kept saying my head most times I talked to the Arishok or Sten "You are so full of sh**!  :P

You should be feeling this. They aren't supposed to be sympathetic exactly. More interestingly messed up.

This is a bit hard to explain without going on for several pages.
Short answer: yes.
Medium answer: The qunari don't really even consider magic users to be beings at all. They are tools. As a result, they have no mages.

I'd be quite happy for you to go on for several pages. :) (But I can wait for the game or similar.)

But they're mages, from my perspective, because I'm human. That's why I like the qunari so much, and that's why I said "qunari" in general, rather than any specific example of a rank or gender or whatever. I'm looking forward to seeing how you guys collide them with humanity.

The Fade interests me a great deal. Particularly the Black City, so I would love to find out more about the Fade and the myths about the Black City and making it Golden again.

Dwarven history is also very interesting. The Primeval Thaig, how Dwarves are magic resistant, and all that. (And please bring back female Dwarves.)

One thing that my brain really wants answers to is the 'riddle' of Sandal's 'prophecy' and the Nexus Golem.
Golem: The Stone lives beneath Orlais. Mathas gar na fornen pa salroka atrast. Amgarrak tapped the blood, spilled within the Stone. We were once more than we are.
I don't know if that was intended to actually mean anything, but oh jeez it has been rattling in my brain since I heard it. And Sandal's 'prophecy': One day the magic will come back. All of it.
Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.
When he rises, everyone will see.

Heck, I don't know if those were just throw-out lines, red herrings, or whatever, but the two have been kicking around in the corners of my mind ever since I heard them. Especially the lines: "We were once more than we are" and "Everyone will be just like they were". The juxtaposition of those two just pings my brain like CRAZY.

- Morrigan and Flemeth. I've been pretty attached to this one. The seeds are planted, and they're long overdue for growth. This has to be resolved in some way or another.
- The Warden. I know not everybody's survived, but mine did, and I want to see him again. There was so much for him to live for, and the darkspawn aren't gone yet.
- For those of us: where's the baby?
- The Qunari are very interesting. Honestly, Act II of DA2 was better than the rest. The Arishok's dying words were "One day, we shall return." Is that day soon?
- How has the world changed? Kirkwall didn't show us most of what happened post-Blight. Ten years later, with the mage-templar war, how does it affect everyone else? What about those who have no mages or templars, like the Qunari or Dwarves?
- Speaking of dwarves, we find out what happens to Orzammar in the epilogue of Origins, but does that affect future events?
- I didn't like Hawke all that much, but he needs to [wo]man up and be accountable for his actions. How is [s]he living with him/herself? Guilt? Apathy? Something else?

That's all I've got right now. I wasn't a fan of DA2, but I sure tried to be, and I can understand its place if it fits. I'll keep this on topic, but in a recent thread on ME3 vs DA2, a lot of people said that they were more disappointed by ME3 because they weren't all that vested into DA2. That's the way I felt, though I tried so hard to connect. It's just hard go in fresh from fighting the Blight as YOUR character, then taking on politics and poverty as just some guy who avoided it.

One more thing: in the way that you guys did with Mass Effect books and novels, I think it'd be cool if you guys spun books/comics into a video game without requiring us to read it. It's a nice easter egg for those who did, but generates some interest for those of us who didn't. I know I want to go pick up the novels to read up on Anderson & Sanders' relationship.

One thing that always struck me as kind of odd was the way the Tevinter Imperium is handled. I have a hard time believing that all Tevinter are essentially evil and that all their mages are cruel. It'd be pretty neat if we could perhaps get some more depth into this land at it's people, perhaps some conflict between the old established Imperial slave owning mages and another rival group of mages who are anti-slavery and want to reform the Imperium.

Take a look at the thread above and all the beautifull things forumites have posted there regarding most of the regions in Thedas. This thread gives ideas that could make the next DA absolute eye candy.

Totally agreed- that thread is a visual goldmine.

I want to see new areas and have more exploration in general, but only if the new areas actually look meaningfully different, impressive and feel like real locations with a genuine sense of place and not just video game levels. So having Tevinter architecture and armor and society feel like its arrived at where it is organically. And that means having the different nationalities and cultures have visual identities that don't feel arbitrary (Elves with no shoes? Huh?) but feel like everything exists for a reason- people in Ferelden having clothing/architecture/weaponry thats suited to the colder climate and geography and climate, just as cultures in different climates/geographical areas are suited to survive in their respective environments.

I have exhausted all my environment ideas in the linked thread and agree completely with Brockololly`s post above.
He put it more eloquently than I ever could.

I do not think I can add much more to what had been said on here before, but here is my novel incoherent wordstorm anyway.

It would be wonderful if we could explore more of Thedas, from Orlais through the Silent Plains to Tevinter and Nevarra,
Par Vollen,Rivain, and Antiva...I hope we get to travel the entirety of the continent in future installments.

As for Orlais,I will have to join the holy quest for The Masquerade Ball ™.
Oooh,to poison the punch bowl with some  Essence of Truth, then enjoy the political cakestorm when all those
Masters of The Game suddenly begin to speak the truth...

To be honest,I would love to see as many mysteries explained as possible. As for the Maker and the Elven Pantheon  - some more lore would be most welcome, but the definitive answer to those could be left to interpretation / we could be left to put the fragments together ourselves? I only speak for myself,of course.

I would be intrigued to find out the true nature and origins of the Blight...and everything about the sentient darkspawn, the taint, etc.
Who / what is Flemeth? Morrigan and the OGB,of course...
Where are the Warden and the Champion?
I miss Kadan terribly, and would be ecstatic if I could see him again. But definitely more qunari and kossith.
Not to mention Le Loghain, the King of Snark

What is going on underneath Thedas? What`s up with the Primeval Thaig and the lyrium idol?
Were the elves ever really immortal? What is the Eluvian? The Fade and the Dark City,of course.
Enchantment?  :wizard: And please, more Sandal swinging on chandeliers.
Has Shale managed to become a dwarf again? Are there any more pigeons left in Thedas?    <_<
Where are all the horses?
And most importantly : where did the meteorite come from (Starfang) ?   :alien:

With all that nonsense said,I think I will now file for a divorce from my keyboard, for all our sakes.

Something to consider for other media, maybe: more small-scale, personal stories that shed a different light on the huge, world-changing events of Dragon Age. The ME "Homeworlds" series does a great job with this, I think. Don't get me wrong, I love epic, extended battle scenes and raging political intrigue, and I enjoy nothing more than smashing an enemy with a great big hammer... but I think many people would be more emotionally moved (and invested) by a quick 2000 word story about a grief-stricken little sister picking up her brother's hammer after he's killed in a minor skirmish than by a five minute enemy-smashing interlude, even done in the name of plot and even if it comes with extra entrails. The entirety of DA3 could take place on a four-acre farm in Orlais and I would be perfectly content as long as the story moved me deeply enough. Well, and as long as it was nice to look at.

I adore the DA universe, and the ME universe, too, because they move me from an emotional standpoint. When I feel like setting someone on fire and smacking them around with a mace (and sometimes I do) I play TES, but I always end up back at Bioware's door. Bottom line: respectfully requesting more human/elven/dwarven/kossith interest stories! :D

More political scheming please! I just love power games, both watching them and taking part in them. This is why Tevinter interests me the most of all places on Thedas. I don't mind if we don't get to visit it in the next game but I think it's about time we'll learn more about magisters and The Imperial Chantry. Fenris had a very limited view on Tevinter and we never learned that much about it. Is Tevinter still a relevant political and military player? At least slavery rings seem to extend all over the continent. Are there imperial agents as well infiltrated to other nations?

Qunari are implied to be a serious future threat. DA2 with its DLC gave us a lot of insight on qunari culture but I want more. I'd like the Qun to become a clear religious and philosophical adversary to the Chantry. While I don't find the Qun appealing, I still hope we'll finally get a chance to actually side with the qunari. Generally, I want more choices that reflect the philosophy of our player character and I want those choices to have heavy consequences. A Tal-Vashoth kossith as a companion would be a great way to learn about the Qun from a new perspective.

If the next DA game is set in Orlais, I'd like to see the protagonist completely pulled into the Game of Orlesian nobility. I want to see how the Chantry operates from Val Royeaux and spreads its power around Thedas. The history of Catholic Church is so incredibly bloody and fascinating that it would be great to see those tales of corruption, betrayal, violence and intrigue adapted into Dragon Age. Orlais is probably the best place for that.

At the same time, I hope we'll find more about the actual truth behind the Andrastian faith, old gods, the origin of darkspawn and how all those things relate or conflict. Some of that may be better left to speculation (after all, belief is the basis of all religions) but I hope we get some rudimentary answers. Overall though, I'd rather this magical stuff would not be used as an excuse to turn antagonists crazy or as a deus ex machina trick.

Thanks for listening to us!

Wow, I really like the idea of these threads! Kudos to whoever had the idea for them.

I have to say I've always been endlessly fascinated by the Qunari. I'm not sure how marketable it would be, but I would totally love a game where the main protagonist was Kossith/Qunari. Not just the race as a different skin for the player character with minor mentions in the main story like in Origins, but a story actually revolving around the Qunari culture (maybe one day far in the future). Even if that's impossible I'd like to see more side stories in DA3 involving Kossith. I loved the Ketojan quest in DA2 and was disappointed we didn't get to spend more time with him. I also loved the dialogue we got with the Arishok--I thought he was a great character all around.

I also would really like to see some of the countries we've been hearing in mentions but that haven't really been important to the storyline so far. I'm happy to be heading to Orlais next, for a change of scenery, but I'm most interested in the cultures that aren't based on European countries and peoples. Actually, out of the countries that have been major players in the storyline so far, I'm probably most interested in Tevinter and least interested in Orlais.

I loved DAO but I thought one of its biggest weaknesses was that it appeared to be so generic "western Tolkieneque medieval fantasy". Some of this was art direction, and I liked the changes made in DA2 on that front, but a lot of it was the world itself. The dwarves and elves and humans are set up differently than in other IPs, but they're still your standard fantasy races in your standard UK-based fantasy setting.

If it were up to me, I'd play up what sets DA apart from other fantasy IPs, and setting-wise, that's groups like the Qunari and the Chasind (maybe the Fex?) who are unique to DA. Also, expanding into places like Rivain, Nevarra, and Par Vollen, that are (probably) less like Western Europe/UK seems like a really easy way to make DA more unique, simply because so many other fantasy IPs don't go there.

I'm a huge lore enthusiast, so really anything that fills in more information about Thedas is great, but those are the things I'm most interested in.

Technical: A New Engine please! One with weather! And a thriving city full of people! And less reused levels!

Story: I'd love it if it started with the New Hero as a Tevinter Slave, working up to adventurer and beyond and freeing themselves from slavery, only to get tangled up in the Mage/Templar war. Less Orlais please - nobles aren't that interesting.

Characters/Companions: I'd also like it if you could introduce some of the Asunder characters, like Rhys and Evangeline. (I love Evangeline very much :)) But I'd also like to see some of the characters from the previous games as companions - for example, if Fenris sided with Hawke at the end, he could become a companion for the New Hero in DA3 (assuming he wasn't romanced/Hawke disappeared without romanced Fenris). I wouldn't recommend Anders for this though, as he'd be the most difficult to implement. Also, Feynriel would be a good idea as a companion, especially considering the attention he got in DA2, but that would rely on Hawke not tranquiling him or feeding him to the Sloth demon. (Unless he pulls a Pharamond...)

Oh, and MORE interactions with companions and important characters would be nice! Maybe there could be a quest where you can only take 1 companion, which boosts the companion's approval/gives friendship if done correctly, and puts it down/gives rivalry if the player fails?

Tevinter, first and foremost. We've seen one view of the role mages have in Thedas; after two games it would be interesting to see the situation from the other side.

And books! I'd love to see one of those novels(anthology?) where different authors contribute interconnected stories. It would be a natural (imo) for the Biowriters. Perhaps with a focus on future companions?

Something else I'd like to learn about is the main protagonists life prior to being thrown into his/her epic adventure. Maybe in the form of a short prologue where we play as the new hero going about daily life (whatever that might be) before fate steps in and throws everything into disarray. Maybe, depending on the class you pick (mage/warrior/rogue/whatever) then you'd get a different prologue... but that's for another thread.

The foucs of DA2 was almost entirely mage-vs-templar and I was really, really tired of that by mid way through the game. So I'm hoping for considerable 'other' subject matter to leaven out the tiresome 'main' theme that you have set up. I'd really like to learn more about Arlathan. Or, to a lesser degree, Tevinter vs Qunari conflict. Thanks for asking.
