I know horde mode with limited options is geting stale for some, but I played the beta of D3 and it was one of the most underwhelming experiences I've had in years...

Did those of you who've tried it actually enjoy it?

I'm not gonna bother with Diablo III.

Max Payne 3, on the other hand...

Not enough people will leave to matter, is what I predict.

I was unimpressed the first time.
But by the time I ran it with every character, I liked it.

I'll do D3 for a week probably, then go back to doing whatever, whenever.

I will play both. Mostly now spending my time with this game, Rift and now add Diablo 3.

The beta was exactly what I expected. Very little to no content shown but just gives you an idea of what the gameplay is about. Really just a modern d2. Can't stress that enough.

Eh. There's going to be some inevitable overlap, but I suspect the two games for the most part appeal to two different demographics.

That said, I worry that the PC is going to see the biggest loss. Lot of older PC gamers have fond memories of Diablo, after all.

All of the "casuals" will leave, or at least anyone who does will be branded so by EA in an attempt to hide the fact that they are actually losing their dedicated fans from their stockholders.

Everything else post wow-tbc (World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade (First expansion pack)) has been really just a steppingstone to D3.

I played the Diablo 3 beta until level 8. I hated it. Diablo 2 was great when it came out in 2000.

Who would have thought that gaming has changed over the past 12 years?

I know I won't. I've had my fair share of Diablo 6-7 years ago. Played it for 2.5 years solid and enjoyed it a lot, but it now seems more like mindless clicking instead of playing an actual game. I might buy it cause my brother is so hyped about playing it and keeps pestering me to play with him, but I'm sure I won't enjoy it. D3's story seems so weak...

Anyhow, I'm staying with ME3 =)

I'm sure many of us will be coming back to this game at least for the operation weekends. Frankly I'm good until Borderlands 2 hits.

This and this.

Nostalgia is a pretty powerful draw, but there's only so much you can do with a game tha plays like it's over a decade old.

Everything is cyclical. People will migrate to D3, and to other games. People who enjoy ME3 will keep playing ME3, even if they go play new games. We all talk like it's all or nothing. It's not.

I didn't try it.

How was it boring?

But yes, people will leave ME 3 for Diablo III. The average gamer doesn't play a game for months on end. They play until something new comes along.

Y eah, I'm not a PC gamer (Only been playing the xbox 360 for the last several years), but I did grow up playing Diablo 1 and 2.  For this reason, I have to give it a go.  Just updated some components on my crappy PC to handle it.

I don't think there are that many players that overlap on both fanbases.

Maybe it's because I still compare Baldur's Gate and Diablo, you know. They're from around the same era. I always played BG, but Diablo bored the hell out of me. They're just two very different games, and I assume it's the same with Mass Effect and D3.
