Oh we CAN make clear and simple human judgements on what is and is not abnormal.  Everyone can and does all the time.  

There's the cutesy game fantasy issue of imaging banging some cartoon alien vs the real deal.

Uh-huh, like the real deal of banging an alien species that doesn't even exist so any kind of description based on something that is not even written in game is kinda silly.

Actually, I am referring to the fairly interesting dynamic.  In the CARTOON that is the game, some people get all dreamy about birdlike/reptilian, spikey, spiney, boney, claw-y, insectoidal aliens but if created in "reality" in a movie (like the movie alien) the dynamic changes.  Because the movie version, even though no more real than the cartoon version, is MUCH more realistic and believable than the cartoon.  Like the difference between a cartoon spider (big whoop) and a realistically rendered (or even real one) in a movie (heebeejeebees!  Except for me, that is,  I like spiders...just not in THAT way).

OK...a xenomorph (the alien from the movie "Alien").  It is humanoid in that it is bipedal, has bilateral symmetry, a head on a neck atop shoulders, a chest, stomach, hips...humanoid.  Let's make it nonaggressive and have it speak and act like Garrus.  Friendly overall.  Picture that thing.  Now it is great you can be friends or friendly with this slightly reimagined alien.  It really isn't that much different than a turian, at least when compared to humans.  They share the same nasty needle teeth, claws, boney armor plate, spikes here and there.  You want to bump uglies with that alien? 

No.  Why?  Because it is much more realistically imagined in actual 3D vs the cartoonish rendering of a turian in a video game but the principal is the same. A faithfully rendered or 3D generated turian would NOT be something you would want to French kiss, let alone give a reach-around...or get one from.  Needle nasty teeth, spikey hard sharp armor plate, leathery skin, claws, the works.  Pretty much very similar to the alien xenomorph.  

Oh I am not saying that I'm interested in sex with a Turian of course.  Turians are probably really disgusting naked.  And ever since I saw this...well, I'll let it speak for itself...

My personal preference is romancing the humanoid ones like the Drell or the Asari.

I could only find the quarians and asari attractive enough to sleep with and they're not very alien at all (well, everything other than the hanar are really variations on a human - same basic body and face structure).

It's your INNER beauty that makes you beautiful (or desireable, etc).

Nah, it merely helps.  Physical biological attraction is THE core (and evolutionarily programmed FOR GOOD REASON) and anything else is mere icing.

Oh and to slightly modify an old flippant saying to make it less "offensive" in the word use:  'You don't hump someone's personality."

Uh, no.

The only reason I shipped Shep with Tali in my games is because she had the most likable personality out of the given choices. Chances that I'd shack up with an alien IRL are pretty slim, no matter how human-like. Well, *maybe* if they were very human-like. The fact that they're alien wouldn't be the deciding factor of attraction, anyway.
