Whoop, made it alive through normal hardcore with my valiant Barbarian! I absolutely loved walking in a boss fight without knowing what to expect. Had a huge blast really! With rather high stakes of HC mode present, it is easy to forget how ridiculously easy the normal difficulty level is.

Shame the story blows.
...Or rather story itself makes an average story of an average video game, certainly nothing bad enough to ****** one off. However, tons and tons of dialogue and characters are made with such a TERRIBLE TASTE it is easily enough to ruin everything having to do with plot or storyline. Saturday morning cartoon Demons who are SO EVIL they taunt the player character through levels. Seriously?   Having to endure Diablo's " Mwhahaha!!! It doesn't matter you destroyed my rifts cuz I destroy heaven like super soon since I am just  so evil!!! - BS was prolly 1st time since DA II I've felt ashamed on behalf of a video game:p Seriously. WTF? If you are a goddamned prime evil demonic super antichrist, changes are some " Super hero? HA!! More like SUPER FOOL!!!!" - level of retard-fest isn't exactly the type of thing you wanna keep ranting about.

....Luckily story isn't exactly in the very core of Diablo - experience. Still, a damn shame. Based on my admittedly limited experiences, DII had some awesome storytelling. Wonder what happened.

Umm this is what the story was like in the first  two games as well. In fact if anytinhg they have expanded the world and lore in Diablo 3. The Demons in D1 and D2(in particular D1) didn't exactly have the biggest depth of character possibly with the exclusion of Leoric.

I've just been playing Diablo 3 for the past week and it's had various ups and downs so far. My current opinion is positive though despite initial misgivings about the purchase.

I really, really, really dislike the fact that Blizzard is so focused on managing my single player experience by making me login to play, and micromanaging whether or not I update the software I purchased. If you put money into anything you exchange a part of your life for a part of someone else's. Without internet, Diablo 3 is worthless outside of being an ineffective drink coaster. That said, I also found the skill trees very limited and I was very disappointed with the lack of customization for each of the five classes. They should at least let us change hair and skin colors if not allow a few different default faces. I've heard the explanation that armor eventually covers up such things but that's truely a crap excuse.

After accepting that I have to be online and getting used to the limited skill trees and utter lace of character customization, I started having fun! I knew it was going to just be a Monty Haul campaign, afterall I enjoyed the first and second games for what they were. Luckily the limited skill trees do become entertaining as the game goes on and the companions are nice to pick up for flavor and even a slice of utility. It's a beautiful game, I like the art direction and the pacing is decent. The online auction house is an interesting idea but I have no inclination to take part. I played WoW for a little while and I don't need that in my Diablo. The story is alright and the voice acting is also pretty good so far.

In the end I feel that Diablo 3 is fun, it satisfies my expectations as a whole for a hack and slash Monty Haul adventure but it feels antiquated, and not in a good way. I like that the game feels like it's predecessors in an updated fashion with new graphics and effects. But, I hate that the game is far more limited in how I play it. Sure, there's a gender option for each class but the class abilities feel less involved than even the first Diablo. The wizard's spells are so limited, there's no replay value for me with a wizard. The unlocking of runes is nice, but there isn't enough variety. I really dislike that Blizzard took away player assignment of stats when I level up a character too. A 1996 game shouldn't trump a 2012 game in play style. In some ways Blizzard really dropped the ball, but they also succeeded.

I like Diablo 3 dispite it's shortcomings, which is something to be said. It feels though, that alot of game companies are really dumbing down gameplay. Are consumers really just not interested in customized playstyles or are companies just getting lazy in the downed economy? It's likely a mix of both, the answer is more complicated than the question but Diablo 3 should of been far more, especially with the wait.

I'm not sure if " Ah but see, these two 12++ years old games had bad dialogue tooo!!" will hold in court.

Oh how I wish Demons in DIII had less depth. Even vaguely threatening, silent, mouth breathing Diablo would be so much better than one with such embarrassing dialogue. Depth is a bad thing if everything underneath the surface is rotten:p  Now. it's not like I expected arch evil with deepcomplex personality or anything, dontgetmewrong. I just wanted one that doesn't come off as villain of a crappy grade B cartoon.

I don't have enough 1st hand experiences of first two Diablos to form a too valid opinnion of their take on !Evil Demon Dialogue!  However, based on what I've seenin game  and gotten shown via Youtube, storytelling in D2 is vastly superior to D3.  In such straightforward hack n slash game, narrative of events just works so much better as a cutscene  than showing  the actual events.

I worry of Online AH. Can easily see how big and important role it will have on highest difficulty levels. Playing the buy low sell high AH game being the best and perhaps only option to obtain enough gear come Inferno sounds ...unsettling.

End of act bosses are really easier then most of mini bosses and packs.
Especially slow caster types like Azmodan or Magda.

Not the experience I've had. Retried at least 40-50 times beat the Butcher on Nightmare and Belial just kept mopping the floor with me. Whereas Magda was pretty easy likewise with Leoric and Zoltun Kulle.

After years of WoW raiding, wow type movement base bosses have no chance against me :)

But those unpredictable pack vermins are indeed a thorn on our side. Especially Mortar ones, how they shoot that accurate is beyond me.

And fast-chain, teleport-chain ones are hard too.

You know, that's very true. The D3 bosses are very similar to WoW instance bosses now. I guess playing WoW was good for something...if not just to beat another Blizzard game!

Managed to get good enough gear to start farming Act1 Inferno. Though Act 2 is another huge jump in difficulty it's insane.

1.03 patch is here and Inferno act 2-3-4 get a bit easier (not a cakewalk still and repair bills just doubled)

But my Witch Doctors Zombie bears got glitched and Blizz says they can fix it till 1.04 and there is no ETA for that patch .........................................................................................................................................................

Whoop, made it to Inferno with my brave HC barbie. Still having a blast. White mobs towards start of Act I Inferno hit harder than Diablo in Hell:o Such significant increase in difficulty. My barbie needs new clothes:l

I've personally completely stopped playing. Just lost interest. Weird because I played Diablo 2 to death. I quit right around RMAH and the duping stuff happened or w/e. I'll probably pick it up again sometime but the problems early on really irked me. Rolled a Barb, should've went Wizard route. Didn't want to level another character, so I lost interest lol. Barb is fun but the constant PvE and no PvP just kills the game for me. No point collecting gear without PvP...

I just got Diablo III and I'm pretty bad at this. I'm using a WitchDoctor but can't get the hang of firebats so I'm using poison darts, grasp of the dead or whatever it's called and the three dogs.

I think they did a good job of getting more skills to try out on the monsters.

I really enjoyed Diablo 3 for a few weeks. I played D1 and D2 for years, but for some reason my interest has waned in Diablo 3. I think I enjoyed it for what it is, but so much has happened in gaming since 1996 and 2001 or whatever, that by today's standards this latest iteration isn't keeping me hooked.

I think maybe the item shop has ruined the desire to run bosses or zones for my own drops, since I only got 1 good drop since I started playing.

I think currently one problem with D3 is that characters scale way out of control, not sure if any of you agree. If you have super powerful gear you can basically one or two shot bosses. I'd much prefer a more flat scaling curve.

Also item shop is a problem. It was supposed to be unnecessary, but the reality is that if someone gets a really good item, no way he's going to sell it in normal auction house (not that he should, gold has always been a weak currency in diablo series). I also prefer the old system, even if it means there are community's chosen currency such as certain runes.
