I dislike shooters. (Thus, I have zero interest in multiplayer ME3.) Note: My dislike is not so much that 'it's got guns!', it's more the typical combat style of a game that relies heavily on gun combat. The way such games 'feel', to me, is simply unpleasant. I can usually overcome such unpleasantness, given enough RPG to counteract that feeling. And BioWare was the king of the RPG, right?
I pre-ordered ME1 because it was a BioWare game, and I was (past tense) a BioWare fangirl through and through. Their stories could do no wrong. I knew I just *had* to like ME1, for the story if for nothing else, and I can enjoy action games, so I'll just play it un-shootery.
Worked fine for me in ME1. Worked AWFUL for me in ME2- Biotics got smacked down, and those horrific shooting gallery after shooting gallery maps- ugh. ME2 was far too much a shooter for me... but I enjoyed the story well enough, so I tried to look past the problems I had. ME3 was the first BioWare game, ever, that I did NOT pre-order. I wanted to make sure I could hack the FoV to not give me a migraine. Thankfully, Biotic power came back in ME3, so once I got the game I was able to play my Adept comfortably. ME3 is less shooter-feeling to me than ME2, which is one of the few positives I can say about the game.
So, to me, the ME series truly became a shooter in ME2, which was indeed much to my great disappointment. ME3 pulled back from that stance somewhat, and there's so much more to be disappointed about in ME3 ... but I won't go into that. I'll just stick to 'shooter disappointment' only, and say that 'I was disappointed that they tacked on a Multiplayer shooter game in my single player RPG' and leave it at that with regards to ME3.
Am I the only one who was dissapointed when ME became a shooter?

Just because the shooting component was awful in ME1 doesn't mean it wasn't a shooter (technically action RPG) it means it was a bad shooter.
Unless you're playing one of the combat oriented classes like Soldier or Infiltrator you can seriously go 80% of the game without firing a single shot. I know I have do so with my Vanguard.
