Hello all,

Although Dragon Age does not take advantage of PHYSX I have a system set up with a backup nvidia card for games that do. Now usually games that do not use PHYSX simply detect my primary ATI video card and the game plays like normal.

In the configuration options for Dragon Age, if I hit the 'Summary' tab, it detects my display Nvidia display adapter (the old 8800Gt).

However, in the 'Display' tab, both display adapters are listed (my nVidia and my ATI card) - the nVidia card is detected as connected to my secondary display monitor and the ATI card is detected as connected to the primary display monitor. This is all correct.

My questio is - is there any way to tell what display adapter Dragon Age is utilizing? Because I sure as hell don't want it using the 8800GT! The game displays and runs on my primary monitor (which is the one connected to the ATI card) however I have experienced some graphical tearing on high settings and minor performance issues during large battles.

I just don't know what card is being utilized. Any ideas on how to check this? Better yet - anyone know how to force Dragon Age to use the ATI card if it detects both?

Cheers

If the display is connected from ATI card to primary display, you probably have gone too far up into the Catalyst series of drivers for this game and for your AMD card (the ATI brand name was dropped with the Radeon 4nnn generation). The 12.2 and 12.3 drivers haven't been universally successful, although 12.4 hasn't been as problematic as 12.2 and 12.3 turned out to be.

The ATI card is a Radeon HD5800, which should not have any problems running DA:O on close to full settings. By 'too far up into the Catalyst series..." I'm not sure what you mean Gorath?

Do you mean to say that the current (up to date) Catalyst drivers for my Radeon card do not suit DA well? Thanks in advance.

AMD's 12.2 and 12.3 version of the driver software were unsuccessful for several games. Version 12.1 remains the least problematic of recent drivers.
