They want to charge us $1 to reload. I have yet to touch ME3's multiplayer, and I am really not interested in it... Mass Effect was never about mutliplayer. I wanted a singleplayer Mass Effect 3 with TONS of replay value, just like ME1 and 2 had. That's not what we got. Instead we got this, "Hey when you're done with singleplayer check out the multiplayer! Also please buy spectre packs!"

If they offered a DLC that cost $60, but removed multiplayer and made singleplayer what it should've been, I'd gladly pay it.

...you realise he was making an example of microtrasations using BF3 right? No-where in his statement did he say they were planning to do that.
Why does the internet blow stuff out of proportion all the time?
oh wait...internet...duh

Look up Spectre packs for ME3's multiplayer... Basically, you give EA money and they give you items for multiplayer like ammo, health kits, etc... How is that different from what he's talking about, even if he was talking about BF3?

Agreed. I love when games allow a player to be a female that isn't all skinny miss perfect...and I love how this is Miranda's character fault, that her looks are a source of her feelings of superiority but I always thought she felt insecure from them too. Anyways, Femshep is well respected, within the realm of believability, and I appreciate the little things like the 'girls' chat with Eve.

Edit: I'm also loving how this thread managed to so quickly ruffle a moderator enough to merit a comment. They are watching:bandit:(A good thing).

Multiplayer is handled by a separate Bioware Studio while edmonton focuses on the EC DLC. plus hey aren't focusing on it because there's tons of problems with it that don't seem to be getting fixed.

For the 6731957463175983rd time, multiplayer is developed by a seperate team with a seperate budget. How many times do we need to bring up this fact before people remember it. And MP is fun.

It's all about that emotionally engaging multiplayer with that amped up combat intensity. And combat rolls. don't know what you're going on about OP. mass effect is all about multiplayer.

Actually Polite, working in the business world as long as I have, he MAY not be too far off base with that comment.
Of course many factors are involved and as I have no access to EA's internal memos and files etc.

But when a project is worked on, usually the budget is forecasted from the get-go.  Now if something is added or needs to be changed additional funds can be made available on a per case basis.  So it is entirely possible that over the course of the game development EA alloted more funds than it would have to ensure that the MP portion got done, especially if they brought in another team whose sole purpose was to finish it.

You have to remember games dont have unlimited budgets and are produced usually witha  certain budget in mind from the outset.

Now could it have cut into the SP budget? Maybe, But we have about as much knowledge of that as we do anything else about EA's internal workings and budgets.

next to nothing.

The way I see it. Multiplayer is a means for them to make more money, but in all honesty, the more people play it the more they will cater to those that do... I tried multiplayer and have played on and off the last month or so, but in the end it gets really boring. It's the same nonsense grind every match.

If people really want to invest themselves into multiplayer they should do just that and play their Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Halo etc... And as for multiplayer allowing you to stay in the ME universe longer, it has no premise for single player. The multiplayer has no story has nothing to do with the ME universe and is a cheap way to make people play to make their single player campaign ending choices slightly more varied based on your EMS and Galactic Readiness. Even that is broken and we were lied to. Multiplayer was not supposed to be needed to get the full single player experience, but despite all that. Anyone that really wholeheartedly supports multiplayer in a franchise like this chances are would have traded their game in by now or are the Call of Duty and Gears of War multiplayer lovers, that I am sure EA was trying to entice by broadening Mass Effect's fan base.

I am not saying this as to cut anyone down, to each his/her own, but really to back up multiplayer in the ME franchise... It doesn't belong. Maybe in another line of games but not Mass Effect.

As for comments on spending real cash to use microsoft points or origin currency to purchase upgrade packs and stuff, if you wanna waste your money, I won't judge, but really just makes you kinda dumb in the long run. Why waste money on stuff like that when its easier to farm the credits in game? I will never fully understand.

Anyway, that is just my 2 cents on the matter. I personally hope people stop playing multiplayer in the near future. And any BioWare staff that supports the multiplayer is naive as well. They shouldn't have gone that far. If they disagree with my comment then they, weather spoken aloud or to themselves will just prove my point. If that is the case then they do care about the money and not the fans. Well, they care about the fans just not as much as the money.

I have ranted before and I have gotten away from it the last month 'cause I just got tired of it and everyone does it daily. This is just way I have been feeling for a while now and never really shared.

I hope BioWare knows they are wrong. Because they are weather they admit it or not. They can hide behind whatever excuse they want. In the end they have to look themselves in the mirror every day. Knowing they betrayed the core fan base that loved them so much. And regardless of weather you liked or disliked the ending. or if you are pro IT or against it. Everyone one felt let down in some way shape or form. Regardless of difference of opinion!

I apologize if that was too long, I got a bit carried away.

I think the fact that the moderators are courteous enough to comment (thanx to those who take the time to assure us) that they are not going to let their diamond in the rough of a franchise go down the same gurglar as so many other game franchises have- ie command and conquer 4 now THAT was a biblical blunder and a half!

However i strongly agree as my phrase under my namesake in my profile that I like the OP and a lot of you are STRONGLY advocating Bioware for greater focus on singleplayer content.

Sometimes it pays to look at the big picture sometimes we as fans get so fanatical we get caught up in short sightedness- looking at the big picture helps...

But encouraging Bioware that this is clearly a red hot button issue and must not be forgotten about does no harm and can only do good. In today's day and age there SHOULD be forums like this one for EVERY major game to hold the creator and developer to account.

That Bioware have such a forum and a high level of tolerance and respect for firm but reasonable criticism is something to behold and be commended.

i LOVE to see Ubisoft do this same thing- they were able to get away with bugs for Far Cry for instance and i have NO DESIRE TO get far cry 3 as a result.

Bioware are doing what all gaming companies should look after their fans ok, the ending was not right, but they are looking into it. I concede speaking for myself it is worth waiting and seeing before we assume.

All that said, i applaud strongly people like the OP of this forum who are prepared to fight for 'the cause for singleplayer focus' feel free to check out my profile and share your thoughts and grievances on the array of topics an join the groups i made in relation to this very topic.

Open invite to those who want to to all of you!

If you assumed I believe that video games have a blank check for budgeting, you couldn't be more off mark. I've worked with independent studios and have also managed my own, I know how the budgetary process works. The funds that were allocated to the multiplayer division could have been used towards making the single player experience more polished. For example, one of the writers, Patrick Weekes I believe, said that the reason they didn't have different missions for choices such as saving/destroying the Rachni Queen was due to monetary constraints. I'm assuming this doesn't just apply to that particular mission, but every instance where a lackluster consequence to a "choice" was presented to the player. Of course Bioware will come out and say how the multiplayer budget wouldn't have been used on singleplayer if it wasn't included. Right. They're only saying that because everyone's natural inclination was to believe that the inclusion of multiplayer would take resources out of singleplayer. It did, and it shows, both the singleplayer and multiplayer components of the game are mediocre at best. They should have focused on their strengths and ending off the trilogy with the best in the series rather than catering to a consumer group that couldn't care less about their barebones multiplayer attempt.

However, Mordin's view could be just as bad as well.

"Focused on big picture. Big picture made of little pictures. Just too many variables!"

Which is ironic since devs of any game is frowned upon for doing that, too.

The reason we have not seen any single player DLC is because the extended cut has put all single player content on hold. If Bioware wasn't working on the EC we would have had single player DLC by now so don't blame multiplayer.

Multiplayer content is created by a diffrent team and don't give me the BS argument about resources being wasted, if there is one thing EA has it's money.

I had the same thoughts the other day then i realized I would probably be more inclined to buy or play SP DLC if EC was awesome.

To be honest multiplayer is looking to be a waste as people start to get tired of it. For the first time the N7 Op Weekend mission even with PS3 owners now on board was a complete and utter failure.

As far as resources being outsourced to MP. Getting tired of that argument. The team of ME3 was already bigger than ME2 and the ME.

As far as SP DLC is concerned. If it is worthwhile I may just come back. I basically forgot the last time I put on my ME3 disc on my 360.

Sweet!

I hope the next SP story is called "Shepard can dance". The entire mission is a four hour dance classs that's a single QTE. One false move and you have to start the class over again.

I'm currently on an ME break, but after seeing what a crap-fest Diablo 3 turned out to be, I'm so glad ME came into my life 5 years ago! By the time I get ancy to play again, there will be some nice shiny DLC.
