You come up with blow up doll and Utaker did Tink Krios. I think Tink should be just as well known as Marauder Shields.

Because Casey Hudson loves Liara. ( and some Bioware's devs ) That's the reason.
Mac Walters. His waifu is Liara
Ashley's hubby left middev of ME2 ... L'etoile.
That's why she has nearly no content in ME3.

Or Thane....
such a shame L'Etoile left, I loved the segments he wrote for the Citadel in ME2.
(Newton is the deadliest SOB, the Game clerk, the ad's anyone?)

L'Etoile is the one and only writer I'd like to talk to and ask him about the fans' interpretation of Ashley and Thane. I really love to sit down in a Café, talk to him about his creations, like to discuss new additions done by the fan, heck, even if he would do a ME1!reboot.
Thane is a good character and so is Ashley. I'm not a Thanemancer (no fem!Shep), but he has an interesting background. Overall one of the better characters in ME2 ...

I interpreted the OP to mean that it's easier to code scripts for single situations that have no exceptions. All the others can be dead so they have to work around that and it takes extra work. They didn't have to face that problem with Liara so if they spent the same amount of time on her, they could focus on the LI more than the rest.
Technically, you could either be a lover, friend, comrade and distanced to Liara.
Lover - she's your LI
Friend - you treat her as a good / close friend
Comrade - friendly but professional
Distanced - just necessary talk
Well, in ME3, Liara always acts as a close friend or lover. The other two branches got ignored 'though they were possible in ME1 and ME2.
So even if a character can't die, there's no "single script" in ME. It happened in Me3 since everything dealing with choices and RPG got dumbed down to two choices ...
