I for one had never heard of the Witcher. After beating ME3 I was wholly perplexed and came onto there forums to see what others thought. Ultimately this led to me hearing about the Witcher. I have sinced purchased it and am currently thoroughly enjoying it. I even bought the second one on 360 in advance. Therefore indirectly and somewhat directly Bioware led me into the hands of a rival while simultaneously enhancing the likelihood of losing my business.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
Did Mass Effect 3 lead you to the Witcher?

No, the first time I saw it was on Steam with a %10 off pre-orders next ot it. At that point I would be wasting money by not getting it.

Kind of. I have heard good things about it. The more mature a game story and dialogue - the better. I will try to play it someday.

Actually yes. I heard about it on here, went on Steam, saw it had a high rating and bought it, I beat it a week or two ago and loved it. Eventually I will get the second one as well.
I actually bought it and KOTOR at the same time. I currently need to infiltrate the gang base on the first planet but got distracted by ME3 MP again. I'll get back to it eventually.

Watching people whining about witcher made me curious about witcher. 1 yahtzee, angry joe, and bennet the sage review later and I was set to buy.
I still think mass effect 3 will be better, but that's personal preference more than anything else, I like to customize my character among other things.

No ME3 did not lead me to The witchier, I got lead to the witchier series after ME2 series because I was looking for a game similar to the witchier for me to sink my teeth into after all the ME2 dlc content had finished and had to wait to for ME3.
sadly I couldn't get used to the controls on the PC (I play those sort of games always on console) and going to be getting the witchier 2 on xbox 360 after I have played Max Payne 3 and got bored of Minecraft on the xbox.

Nah. When I crave epic science fiction I don't generally look towards fantasy games.

Wouldn't this be a better question to ask in the DA forums since that probably has more similarities at least setting wise?

Nope.
I played the first Witcher when it came out, and that was because I read the books, not because of Mass Effect.

I am not comparing the games to eachother or saying one is better than the other, that's all subjective. Just stating I may never have known about the Witcher had the ending to Mass Effect not been so underwhelming.

No, because ME1 wasn't released on PC until after Witcher if I recall correctly.
I was a madly invested Witcher fan before ME1 or DAO.
Although both ME1 and DAO are my two favourite games of all time.

Now would be a good time to mention that I A) play on the console only, and
Any advice for a console player?

I read the books, and then I played the first Witcher for PC - I then purchased The Witcher 2.
My love for Mass Effect and The Witcher are very separate and one did not lead me to another in my own experience.

Witcher 2, actually. After seeing the complete disregard for RPG elements and choices in this game, I needed the exact opposite experience. As other have pointed out, though, I don't like the predetermined protagonist that much.

I played the witcher and was considering getting witcher 2 at some point, the disappointment of ME3 lead me to get it earlier.

Got into Witcher 2 on Xbox, just finished my first playthrough.
Things that ME does better:
-Better morality system.
-Love Interests and Squadmates.
-Bigger worlds and more areas to explore (ME1 and ME2 only)
Things Witcher 2 does better:
-A vastly superior interactive world (seriously, you'll have dozens of options with a shopkeeper alone).
-A vastly superior quest system.
-A vastly wider system of choices (only ME1 can compare with how many ways it's possible to complete a quest).
-Choices MATTER. I've finished only one runthrough, halfway through the second and it feels like I'm playing a completely different game. My Geralt is different, my allies are different, my objectives are different and the quests I'm on don't even have anything to do with the ones done in the last run.
Mass Effect still holds all the cards for 'epicness', but Witcher 2 has claimed my future enthusiasm for a story driven game. Really, the only thing holding me onto Mass Effect at the moment is my love for Shepard and Ash, plus the promise of the Extended Cut.

I am not sure if you are serious. You do know Yahtzee hates almost all games? There are very few games he admits he truly enjoys playing. Also, you can't take his reviews seriously. He's more of a comedian. He usually don't finish playing the games, and his reviews only about pointing out flaws, errors, mistakes and other stuff he does not like. Are you letting one single "reviewer" decide for you whether a game is worth playing or not. Witcher 2 has been received with great reception. It has won fifty awards for best graphics, best adaptation or use of a
license, best story, best PC game, best RPG and Game of the Year

No. I'd heard of the series before ME3, but watching videos and what not (especially about the combat), it just doesn't seem like my cup of tea. I may try them eventually, but there's no desire right now.

@Made Nightwing - You make a crucial mistake there. The point of The Witcher that there is no morality system. There is no right or wrong - you purely use your own moral compass (or lack thereof). So ME doesn't have a 'better' morality system then TW, since TW hasn't one to start with.
