My boyfriend kept telling me I needed to play The Witcher but I kept putting it off. When the ending of ME 3 left me so completely confused and underwhelmed I came here where people were talking about how the CDP Red guys fixed their ending when fans complained. I bought it. Apparently they are a company that wants my money so I shall give it to them. Bioware, not so much anymore.

I'm also completely in love with Geralt.

I was already into TW1&2 before ME3.

CD Project RED are AWESOME, i have deep respect for them.
They really care about their customers, and if they release something not polished enough (and they do, despite TW2 was already more polished than TW1 at release), they enanche it (big time!) later FOR FREE!!

This is why I hate when someone says "Play a real RPG like TW2" on these forums. I don't think it should be against the rules to mention other games but grrrrr.

It's overrated. The programming or coding or whatever is shady, the voice acting is bland, the "maturity" of the nudity is a joke, and the combat never has a rhythm and is...not broken but just isn't as deep as ppl say.

There is a reason why Fallout New Vegas won RPGOTY over both DA2 and TW2.

Because an RPG with awesome shooter mechanics is going to get a lot of popularity. The same way FO3 was huge and Skyrim.

Simple gameplay + exploration = best seller.

Simple gameplay + exploration + in general GREAT = awesome best seller

TW2 isn't a game for everybody. CDPR admits that. And they don't want to expand to a 'newer audience.'

See this is the bull**** that regurgitates from CDPR fans.  Fallouts premise was the way it was and involved guns way before gun mechanics were "the it thing".

To say that Skyrim has shooter mechanics is an insult to me since I consider myself an old school shooter.....which sounds dumb.

It's so painful to see them manipulating ppl.  CDPR knows it's "cool" to like them so they work that angle.

There are technical reason TW2 shouldn't be GotY.

Heard about the Witcher but wasn't too interested in it. After Mass Effect 3, Witcher 2 became more noticeable on my search for something to fill my RPG fix and decided to get Witcher 1 first (happened to be on sale on steam). The story was great and the gameplay was different, but alright(a bit dated, but that's to be expected since it's pretty old now). Hoping to get to Witcher 2 soon though, it looks amazing from what I've seen.

If you only buy games based on whether Yahtzee likes them or not, your game library will be very small indeed.

You have no idea how many excellent RPGs you're missing out on if lack of character customization is such a deal-breaker for you. (Planescape Torment, Deus Ex, and of course The Witcher games) EDIT: argh, you guys above me beat me to it! 

Besides, in most of those games with character customization, the protagonist's face isn't even seen 99% of the time anyway because the game is either first-person or it's hidden behind a helmet.

Funny, because I prefer shepard over the constantly brooding adam jenson. I tried to play him as someone not depresed and kept losing all the conversation checks. Seems kinda cheap that I can't play him as being good with his augmentations without the game deciding I need to be punished for it.

Also tricking me into sabotauging myself by fixing the current glitches before my fight with the main terrorist is a cheap blow, espically since all my strategy went out the window and I had to randomly run around and fire blindly to kill the guy.

But to each his own I guess, either way I still like them all, I just like making my own character more.

Agreed. It also tends to be immersion-breaking for me to have everyone call me "Champion" or "Hero" or some other vague title instead of my name.

I agree with Gareth.

I heard about Witcher and watched some vids on YouTube, some of my friends love these games. But I don't even want to play them. I almost don't play games where I can't play as female and can't create my own character.

Mass effect 3 was by all means a terrible game, if you don't know why then I am afraid to say that you were never a fan, you just liked Miranda's ass.
