All of the negative aspects aside, I found Mass Effect 3 to be a very fulfulling experience.
So much emotional entanglement throughout the game, unlike the others, in my opinion.

It seemed more.. real, with honest human emotion embodied into these characters we have grown to love.
This is not to slam the ending, or to discuss what we dislike - but what we loved.

I didn't mean to say that ME1 and ME2 had NO emotional aspects -- I just feel that ME3 has a lot a lot more.

I felt the character were much more alive than in the other ones. In mass effect 1 the characters were pretty wooden exposition pieces, with backstory to sort through but not a whole lot else.

In mass effect 2 they had only began to understand characters but couldn't really do them well. I have no illusions about them, they were pretty 1 note characters, unless you romanced them and only if your romanced them. The "I'm always loyal to cerberus and super serious" miranda. The "I hate everything" brooding jack. The "I'm brutal and evil but wont kill you" grunt. The "I am sad and want to be alone" assassin thane. They even made garrus into a one trick "Revenge" character for most of the game. Mordin, legion, and maybe tali were the only ones who weren't like this.

In mass effect 3 we see them go through their own individual moments, not missions but scenes where they act on their own. Plus it was nice to see them finally interact with eachother outside of a cutscene, made it seem more like real characters.

I disagree with you completely, but I guess it just comes down to opinion.
I also don't feel like derailing this thread. Image IPB

Mine was the same.

Could NOT wait to get the damn game. Work for me shook out so I had a few extra days of PTO I had to use in March and so I figured it was a sign from above. Took March 7-9 off and played the hell out of ME3.

It was the first game I honestly could not wait to tear though. I'm 32, have a fiancee, own a home, etc. So being able to spend THIS much time on a game all at once was a bit unprecedented for me.

And it was ... so good. Yes, in retrospect there are lots of things I don't like about it, but everything can be overlooked until Priority: Earth begins. From that point on ...

When I beat the game I sat in shock. That's IT? Five years, countless playthroughs for THAT? A total narrative and artistic failure I was (and still am) in awe of how bad the ending is. And it COMPLETELY took the wind out of my sails for what was, up until then, a truly great experience.

To be honest, the first time around I was electrified. Each priority mission was exciting; I could not wait to see what was going to happen next.

I actually liked the beginning. Right away you're struck with a horrible blow to Shepherd's moral. With the death of the little boy she tried to save, it was extremely sad and heartbreaking to see. And you could actually see and feel the hurt Shepherd was feeling, which is hard to achieve for a video game. The music and cinematic s were amazing, in my opinion.

Love your OP, Brenna!

I had a blast with the game from beginning until the end (when some confusion and doubt snuck in during the last few minutes)...

Definitely playing it again once I go through ME1 and ME2 once more.

I feel as though I am playing a role, which would be Shepherd.
I am what Shepherd is. Shepherd is me.
Thus, Shepherd's morale was kicked in the face because of the child's death. ;-; In my opinion.

Thank you! :)
I think I am going to do another run through using an already saved ME2 Character.
Unfortunately, I got the horrible rings on my disc after my xbox fell over -- I am going to take it to the video store to get them buffed out, I hope.
