I loathe always online DRM, only got AC:2 and AC:B after they patched it out. Wouldn't pay money for DIII, my brother got it free for his long time WoW subscription, might jack it in a few months to watch the cool cutscenes. I hate to see it coming to this, D2 was among my first games I bought as a kid.

It was used as word of god to prove that games people thought were better than DA2, are actually bad while ignoring DA2's ratings itself. Fun times.

lol, if anything, putting DRM on a game is like painting a BULLSEYE on it for pirates. From what ive seen, pirates GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to crack games with DRM.Arppis wrote...

Eh, most of it is just people ****ing about not being able to log in.
It's odd that they wouldn't give an offline mode like with Starcraft 2.
Reduces the piracy... or so they think.

I am beginning to agree with you, some of the scores are crazy.

Don't know if it's true, but I heard that the game kicks you if you AFK 5 minutes, even in the single palyer mode, since you are taking server space. That's pretty funny DRM you got there.
Not true at all from my experiance. It had to be at least 30 minutes since that is the time set for being moved to the afk channel in my vent.
I am no fan of the always on BS and if it becomes too much of a problem I know there will be a "fix" for that around.

"Whaaaaaaaaaaaa! Dragon's Dogma and Torchlight 2 are releasing near Diablo 3! None can stand before Diablo 3!"
And now half these people will be buying Dragon's Dogma or Torchlight 2 because they hate Diablo 3 because it isn't the like the first two Diablo games or because they can't even play it. Those metacritic scores will be bad for the game in the long run too as I'm pretty certain some people won't even buy the game after seeing that many dislikes and I'm pretty sure the hatred for Diablo 3 will travel beyond metacritic (as we're already seeing here) and inspire people not to even touch the game.
Blizzard are worst than Bioware for thinking that online login being required to play the game was a good idea.
Next stop Bethesda...
Oh wait. People have already done them too...

I love the fact that developers care so much about Metacritic scores; it makes me feel like the customers actually matter for once.

I'm surprised Diablo: III wasn't an instant 70-90 in the user reviews; it seems like it had a strong following.
As for metacritic scores I take it you approve of situations like Obisidian missing out on a bonus for FONV because they got a metacritic score of 84 instead of 85, and despite the outstanding sales of the game.

TBH Obsidian deserved it for releasing a bugged game. Maybe they'll learn in future.

Can't fully blame Obsidian for that. A lot of the bugs are in the actual game engine they had to use since many of the bugs have appeared in Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls 4.

I think its more that it forces people to connect to their cash auction system.

If they didn't like the terms of their deal, they shouldn't have agreed to it. At any rate their bonus was based on critic scores, not user scores.

It baffles me how anyone can still believe this. Did Blizzard think they would be above the kind of backlash Assassin's Creed 2 had back in the days ? How precious.
1) Invasive DRMs ****** off legitimate consumers and give them a bad first impression, which colors their experience negatively to begin with. They give people an incentive to talk trash about the game, creating bad publicity that spreads rapidly because DRMs annoy everyone.
2) Invasive DRMs encourage piracy by giving pirated copies the added value of not having them, and makes it easy for pirates to assume the role of benevolent 'Robin Hoods' who deliver content for free and devoid of the perceived tyranny of DRMs.
How many times does this need to be hammered into the industry's face ? Honestly.
Pirating Diablo III makes you a jerk who refuses to pay for an experience spoiled by DRMs, a jerk for refuses to endorse such practices by paying for his game. It makes you a dashing, understandable jerk. Even though it's still wrong.
Pirating The Witcher II makes you a jerk. Because it's just wrong.

Blizzard is usually known for creating superb games that never fail to satisfy their customers, but this year they've been outdone by BioWare! Congratulations guys!
Mass Effect 3 - 3.9
Diablo 3 - 3.5
There is an unwritten universal law that the more popular something is, the greater its number of detractors. The Mass Effect series may be well known, but it's fame is a crater on the moon that is Diablo. Of course it will have a lower score. That many more people love it or hate it.

Can you elaborate on the difference between these two? They look quite similar, judging by gameplay videos.
